Flexible planar eddy current probes are widely used to detect conductive components with complex surface. In this study, topological transformation is applied to design a differential Koch coil exciting eddy current probe. Two kinds of Koch exciting coils, Koch A and Koch B , were obtained by topological transformation from a three-dimensional differential exciting eddy current probe. Finite element model simulation is conducted to visualize the differences of eddy current distributions induced by the probes and get the defect signal. Abstract:
Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the oral cavity and can ultimately lead to tooth loss. Oxidative stress has been identified as a key factor in the development of periodontitis. In recent years, natural polyphenols have gained attention for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. This study aims to evaluate the potential of a bio-adhesive patch loaded with Semperivium ruthenicum Koch extract, rich in polyphenols, as a novel oral antioxidant delivery system for reducing oxidative stress in periodontitis. The plant extracts were prepared by maceration and wer

The orb-weaving spider Trichonephila clavata (L. Koch, 1878) (Araneae Nephilidae), commonly known as Joro spider, was recently introduced into North America and has been spreading in the invaded territory. Several studies have suggested potential negative impacts of this spider on native communities. The present study focused on risk-taking behavior in Joro spider individuals from their native range. A comparison between our behavioral experiment and a previous study investigating an exotic population in the USA suggests that spiders tend to exhibit more risk-aversive behavior in the introduce

Abstract:
An invasive spider (Trichonephila clavata [L. Koch 1878], or jorō spider) is rapidly expanding throughout the southeast of the United States, engendering many questions about how native fauna will be affected. Here, we describe an observation of a northern cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis, L.) consuming prey items from a jorō web, which serves as an example of a native species deriving a (small) benefit from this new invader. Moreover, the manner of the kleptoparasitism is also noteworthy; the cardinal perched directly on the web, which supported its weight (which is 42–48 g in this species). T
