With a novel identification strategy, we estimate the span of stabilization power. Abstract:
This paper shows that the United States Inflation Reduction Act improved the supply of climate finance globally, and notes that effective domestic climate policies can attract international finance. Industrial policies greening the economy aim to accelerate the transition to net zero. Using granular data on global investment funds, this paper identifies a novel international spillover channel of industrial policies. Sustainable global investment funds received more inflows after the Inflation Reduction Act was announced and increased their cross-border portfolio investments worldwide. Recipien

Abstract:
This paper studies a model where student effort and talent interact with parental and teachers' investments, as well as with school system resources. The model is rich, yet sufficiently stylized to provide novel implications. It can show, for example, that an improvement in parental outside options will reduce parental and school effort, which are partially compensated through school resources. In this way, by incorporating the behavioral responses of parents, teachers and policymakers, the paper provides a rationale for the existing ambiguous empirical evidence on the effect of school resourc

Abstract:
This paper uses spatially granular surface urban heat island (SUHI) data to quantify the impact of COVID-19-related containment policies on economic output in the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Governments have adopted various policies and measures to control the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Results of the study suggest containment measures in the PRC decreased SUHI in locked cities marginally yet generated positive and negative spillover effects in unlocked cities, with positive effects dominating. The paper also notes that initial experiences helped inform the management of c

Environmental policies are characterized by salient short-term costs and long-term benefits that are difficult to observe and to attribute to the government's efforts. These characteristics imply that citizens' support for environmental policies is highly dependent on their trust in the government's capability to implement solutions and commitment to investments in those policies. Using novel survey data from Mexico City, we show that trust in the government is positively correlated with citizens' willingness to support an additional tax approximately equal to a days minimum wage to improve ai

Abstract:
U.S. policies on artificial intelligence education and the AI workforce must grow, cultivate, attract, and retain the world’s best and brightest. Given China’s role as a producer of AI talent, understanding its AI workforce could provide important insight. This report provides an analysis of the AI workforce demand in China using a novel dataset of 6.8 million job postings. It then outlines potential implications along with future reports in this series.

Abstract:
This paper describes a novel, dynamic, forward-looking applied general equilibrium model of Saudi Arabia that represents interactions between the energy sectors and the rest of the economy. This model serves to produce long-term scenarios that describe possible energy transition trajectories in terms of policies, emissions, and economic impacts. This model covers all the sources of greenhouse gas emissions and features several emission reduction technologies and a representation of hydrogen supply and demand. We explain the overall structure of the model and how the different energy demand tec

Abstract:
Stakeholder engagement is an important component in developing policies on critical issues such as the use and development of novel methods and technologies, including biotechnologies and nanotechnologies. Understanding the perspectives, needs, and concerns of stakeholder groups can facilitate the development of transparent and trusted policy recommendations. Innovative online research platforms have been developed as alternatives to typical stakeholder engagement methods such as in-person focus groups, interviews, and online and paper surveys. These platforms facilitate the engagement of geog
