Recibido 20 de marzo de 2013 • Corregido 14 de junio de 2013 • Aceptado 19 de junio de 2013 Este artículo analiza el modelo didáctico-pedagógico para la enseñanza de la literatura en la educación media salvadoreña. Es parte de un trabajo más amplio de tesis doctoral. El objetivo es caracterizar el proceso histórico de conformación de dicho modelo mediante un análisis crítico de las fuentes de canonización. Los hallazgos sugieren que la enseñanza de la literatura se realiza con base en un enfoque historicista, europeizante y masculino; entre las consecuencias de este tipo de enseñanza se encuentran la progresiva invisibilización de la mujer escritora y el estatus marginal que ocupa la literatura salvadoreña, pese al discurso reformista que postula la equidad de género y el fortalecimiento de la identidad nacional como políticas centrales del actual proyecto educativo. Doctor en Educación de la Universidad de Costa Rica. Máster en Derechos Humanos y Educación para la Paz. Licenciado en Letras. Investigador del Consejo de Investigaciones Científicas de la Universidad de El Salvador (CIC-UES). Actualmente labora como profesor de la Universidad de El Salvador, sede Facultad Multidisciplinaria de Occidente, Departamento de Santa Ana, en donde es catedrático de Teoría Literaria y Literatura Salvadoreña. Abstract:
Cuando los hombres fuertes lloran (1976), novela de la escritora salvadoreña Carmen Delia de Suárez, por diversas razones, ha permanecido olvidada por más de cuarenta años a pesar de la importancia de su temática. La novela no tuvo buena recepción por parte de los sectores políticos de derecha e izquierda, puesto que ninguno de ellos estaba de acuerdo con las ideas presentadas en ella. La izquierda no iba a estar de acuerdo con las tesis idealistas sobre el cambio social que la novela propone. La derecha no iba a aceptar su denuncia de los sistemas dictatoriales como algo nocivo para los pueblos y que había que eliminar. La novela dramatiza el dolor que una dictadura causa a las personas que se oponen a ella. Es hora de volver a leer la novela y valorar su aporte a la novelística para situarla en el canon de la narrativa centroamericana.

Abstract:
En Nicaragua y El Salvador las revoluciones de los años setenta y ochenta pusieron fin a la era de dictaduras militares, la mujer redefine su identidad política mediante la participación revolucionaria. Gioconda Belli reflejó el sandinismo en sus obras, y en La mujer habitada (1998) marca el papel de la nicaragüense durante la revolución. De la misma manera, Claribel Alegría representó la mujer revolucionaria salvadoreña en su novela testimonial No me agarran viva (1983). El propósito de este trabajo es demostrar como las obras reescriben la historia para reivindicar a la mujer como sujeto histórico en Nicaragua y El Salvador.

Se analizan los simbolismos de la novela Cualquier forma de morir (2006), del escritor salvadoreño Rafael Menjívar (1959-2011). Esta novela negra contemporánea trata acerca de la destrucción del orden social por causa de la violencia del narcotráfico. En el relato, priva una perspectiva determinada por el empleo de imágenes propias del mito, en particular, una visión apocalíptica de la sociedad mexicana. Tal recurso al mito forma parte de una tendencia común en la nueva ficción criminal hispanoamericana. This article addresses the symbolism in the novel Cualquier forma de morir (2006), by Rafael Menjívar (El Salvador; 1959-2011). This contemporary black novel deals with the destruction of social order due to violence from drug trafficking. As the novel unfolds, the prevailing perspective is determined by the presence of images corresponding to the myth, in particular, of an apocalyptic view of Mexican society. That use of the myth is part of a common tendency in new Latin American crime fiction.

AbstractThis article focuses on the political thought and practice of the martyred Jesuit intellectual during the late 1970s. It employs the concept of desencuentros, probing the relationship between linguistic misunderstandings and political division. The article highlights Ignacio Ellacuría's novel analyses of the relationship between the ecclesial and the popular organisations, led by the radical Left. It discusses his political thought in relationship to the author's research on the base communities of northern Morazán. The article also discusses the Jesuit scholar's critical support for the Junta Revolucionario de Gobierno (15 October 1979–2 January 1980). The concluding section discusses Ellacuría's relevance for contemporary Latin American politics.

Abstract:
El escritor salvadoreño Jorge Galán en la novela Noviembre (2015) aborda el asesinato de seis jesuitas, un hecho que definió la historia reciente de El Salvador. En un marco amplio, la novela puede inscribirse en la llamada literatura testimonial, que, en el contexto centroamericano, durante las décadas de los años setenta y ochenta, se convirtió en un género canónico. No obstante, la novela de Galán subvierte las convenciones genéricas de este repertorio tanto en su forma como en su finalidad. Desde esta perspectiva se analizará cómo la forma y el propósito de esta novela amplían las posibilidades de la literatura testimonial. Noviembre amalgama una diversidad de estrategias propias de géneros de escritura referencial con estrategias plenamente literarias para constituirse como una expresión de literatura de lo real.

This article analizes the labors of memory in Vanessa Núñez Handal’s novel Dios tenía miedo. By looking into both the familial and the national past in El Salvador through an autofictional exploration of the ways in which her own family was involved in the war she herself experienced as a child, Vanessa Núñez Handal experiments with the explanatory potential of both the creative imagination and the use of symbolic language, in a process where writing seems to be as much a method as a goal in order to remember and, above all, understand the percepticide that took place during the war. The ambiguity of the autofictional pact rules over the novel, giving her the liberty to combine fictional, autobiographical, and testimonial techniques, with the aim of articulating her interpretation of the traumatic past.

Este trabajo analiza dos novelas del escritor honduro-salvadoreño Horacio Castellanos Moya, La sirvienta y el luchador (2011) y Moronga (2018), y demuestra que la producción novelística del autor representa un todo complejo y abarcador donde los lectores se informan, no solo a través del texto de la obra, sino también por el hecho de acceder al espacio entre las novelas donde ocurren muchos de los eventos cruciales para la historia del istmo y las vidas de los personajes de estas obras. Aunque cada una de las obras escritas por Castellanos Moya se puede leer sin conocimiento previo de otras novelas suyas, la capacidad de los lectores de entender el valor y el sentido de cada obra se ve profundamente impactada por su acceso a los intersticios que se ubican entre las novelas.

Abstract:
This study, Jupiter, a theatre play: an ideological discourse through literature, is based upon the play written by Francisco Gavidia that tells the story of the Salvadoran nation, which after having lived many decades under the Spanish yoke, is organized with the help of the Creole elite, in order to obtain independence. For Francisco Gavidia it is important to raise awareness of the importance of freedom in the Salvadoran population. The objective of this work is to analyze the main characters in order to identify the existence of an ideological message in the drama, Jupiter. To accomplish this purpose, we have used some drama concepts established by García Barrientos 2007; some other concepts based on the narrative theory by Mieke Bal (1995), and the theory of the Historical Novel explained by Fernández (2003); both theories have served as a tool to facilitate and deepen the study of the characters, some structural elements, and ideological discourse that we find in this literary work. Our study has focused on the analysis of the main characters, both fictional and historical, with the main character being a black slave: Jupiter. This figure represents the Salvadoran population that has lived several decades under the Spanish yoke. Then we find the figure of the woman embodied in the character named Blanca. This character plays the role of a passive woman, since she has no voice or power, and she is seen as an object through which the male characters can obtain power and material wealth. Another fictional character is Beltranena who represents the Spanish power in Salvadoran territory during the Colonial era. Finally, there are two historical figures who serve the purpose of leaders in the planning and execution of the rebellion to acquire the freedom for the people. Our hypothesis has been corroborated, since according to our analysis the characters deliver an ideological message, because the author exposes the ideology through the main characters.
