Abstract:
NS-2 is a tool to simulate networks and events that occur per packet sequentially based on time and are widely used in the research field. NS-2 comes with NAM (Network Animator) that produces a visual representation it also supports several simulation protocols. The network can be tested end-to-end. This test includes data transmission, delay, jitter, packet-loss ratio and throughput. The Performance Analysis simulates a virtual network and tests for transport layer protocols at the same time with variable data and analyzes simulation results based on the network simulator NS-2.

Network Simulator-2(NS-2) is one of the most popular simulation systems that is widely used in the network community. C++ and the object-oriented Tool Command Language (TCL) are both used to write this simulator. C++ works as a background for this simulator, whereas TCL is responsible for scheduling discrete events and network configuration objects. The TCL language is used to write the code of the simulation scenario. NS-2 does not present enough graphical interfaces that could help a researcher reduce the time spent on writing long TCL scripts. Therefore, network researchers spend a great de

This thesis focuses on the enhancement of the IEEE 802.15.4 beaconless-enabled MAC protocol as a solution to overcome the network bottleneck, less flexible nodes, and more energy waste at the centralised wireless sensor networks (WSN). These problems are triggered by mechanism of choosing a centralised WSN coordinator to start communication and manage the resources. Unlike IEEE 802.11 standard, the IEEE 802.15.4 MAC protocol does not include method to overcome hidden nodes problem.
