Abstract:
Currently, it is generally accepted that atomic nuclei consist of protons and neutrons and nuclear forces are explained by the action of a special strong interaction. It occurs due to the fact that nucleons exchange special particles - gluons. This article proves that the attraction between particles in nuclei can be explained by the well-known quantum mechanical effect, which was first described by W. Heitler and F. London about a hundred years ago. These classics of quantum mechanics proved that there is an attraction between two protons if they exchange an electron (in this case a relativis

Abstract:

Effective theories have applications in many areas of physics, from Newtonian mechanics through to condensed matter physics. In this thesis we discuss effective field theories in the context of constructing nucleon-nucleon interactions in a systematic and model-independent way. We start with the examination of the spin-singlet P-wave, by using distorted wave methods to remove the effects of long-range pion-exchange forces from the empirical 1P1 phase shift. The divergence appearing in this channel is renormalised using a counterterm that is provided by the relevant (Weinberg) power counting. T

AbstractIn this chapter, we explore the nucleus, focusing on how the number of neutrons in a nucleus influences transition frequencies and the stability of atoms. We begin by examining the effect of neutrons on transition frequencies, then shift into detailed discussions of the nuclear forces and principles governing atomic stability and radioactive decay. Various modes of radioactive decay, including neutron and proton emission, $$\alpha $$ α decay, spontaneous fission, $$\beta ^-$$ β − decay, $$\beta ^+$$ β + decay, and electron capture, are investigated, with an emphasis on the conditions u
