The time has come to return to our nursing roots and the wisdom of the past to transform not only what we teach, but also how we teach pre-licensure students. This chapter provides an overview of prelicensure educational pathways, including a review of current standards and regulations for entry-to-practice nursing programs. To transform curriculum so that programs reflect the values, concepts, and principles of integrative nursing, radical revision is not necessary, nor the ultimate goal. Adding content and skills is a misplaced focus and simply exacerbates the problem of content overload. The integrative nursing principles offer a fresh lens to examine the ways we currently approach role development and identity formation in our student nurses. These resources ranged from library licensed content to free virtual reality simulations. In order to identify materials, the librarians first defined visual literacy within nursing, as well as met with various constituents to understand curriculum goals and needs. Making connections with both the faculty and the curriculum was the impetus for examining similarities between the Association of College and Research Libraries Visual Literacy Competency Standards and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Clinical Resources Essentials for Baccalaureate Nursing Education. Both librarians are eager to continue working on strategically and systematically incorporating visual literacy library instruction into the nursing curriculum.

Abstract:
This chapter addresses the innovative solutions implemented by faculty members at Regis University to pivot simulation experiences to a virtual platform during a global pandemic. Healthcare faculty ensured nursing and pharmacy students actively engaged in content and with one another without sacrificing the necessary interprofessional knowledge. The authors adapted a previously in-person acute care simulation to a virtual platform by utilizing technology and specific, intentional pre-simulation, during simulation, and post-stimulation knowledge checks. By following the standards for interprofessional, nursing, and pharmacy education, the authors were able to execute this simulation and implement meaningful feedback for continued advancement for future students. The continued goal of the simulation will be to provide students with high-stress, low-occurrence acute care patient experiences while working closely with other members of the healthcare team to enable students to experience required, necessary curriculum before graduation and working on the frontlines of healthcare.
