Spatial variability of leaf nutrients in oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) plantations in Goa, Karnataka, Mizoram and Gujarat states of India were examined for implementation of site-specific fertilisation programs. Georeferenced leaf samples were collected randomly for the oil palm plantations. The leaf nutrient concentrations were assessed and analysed statistically and geostatistically. The concentrations of leaf nutrients such as nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), sulfur (S) and boron (B) in oil palm plantations varied widely at different locations.

In the European Union (EU), food production needs to become more sustainable and environmental-friendly. Farmers play a crucial role in sustainable agricultural practices on their farms because one of the goals of the EU Farm to Fork Strategy is to reduce nutrient losses by at least 50%, while ensuring that there is no deterioration in soil fertility, which could reduce fertilizer use by at least 20% by 2030. Therefore, the aim of the present research is to examine fertilizer consumption in EU Member States and to assess the impact of the potential fertilizer use reduction by at least 20% by 2

This study investigates the effects of foliar fertilization (FF) on the yield and quality of corn grains, utilizing Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to optimize foliar treatment applications. The PCA approach enabled the identification of the most effective FF formulation for enhancing grain production and quality. The experiments were conducted in 2022 and 2023 at the university's experimental field, evaluating seven treatment variants, each with distinct chemical compositions labelled from V1 to V7, along with a control group. FF applications were carried out during the 15-16 BBCH and 20-2

Harmful algal blooms (HABs) and coastal hypoxic zones are evidence of cultural nutrient enrichment affecting public health and water supplies, aquatic ecosystem health, and economic well-being in the United States. Recognition of the far-reaching impacts of Midwest agriculture has led to establishing nutrient reduction objectives for surface waters feeding the Gulf of Mexico, Lake Erie, and many smaller water bodies. Municipal nutrient enrichment impacts have been addressed by increasing levels of sewage treatment and waste management through the Clean Water Act era, but HABs rebounded in the

The Mid-Atlantic Inventory and Monitoring Network (MIDN) monitors water quality due to the ecological, management, and policy significance of aquatic resources in MIDN parks. Specifically, water quality is monitored due to the direct effect it has on aquatic communities, the National Park Service?s responsibilities for the protection and improvement of water quality, and the clear connection to state-based regulatory programs. Here we provide a summary report on the status and trends in ?core? water quality parameters as defined by the National Park Service (i.e., pH, dissolved oxygen, water t

Trees and shrubs are potentially important sources of food for livestock in many parts of the world, but their use is limited by tannins. Tannins reduce food intake by decreasing digestibility or by causing illness. Supplementing cattle, sheep, and goats with polyethylene glycol (PEG), which has a high affinity for binding tannins and thus attenuating their aversive effects, increases intake of high-tannin foods and improves weight gains and wool growth. Voyageurs National Park (VNP) is a water-based park that includes part or all of four large lakes and twenty-six smaller lakes commonly referred to as “interior lakes”. The 26 interior lakes of VNP are important aquatic resources with differing size and depth, water chemistry, trophic status, fish communities, and visitor use. Despite the remote location of these lakes, they have been impacted by multiple stressors, including contaminants and non-native species. This assessment provides key information in support of a science-based management plan for these lakes. The objectives of this assess
