Abstract:
Early childhood producing future human resources, is a group that is susceptible to a variety of health issues and nutritional disorders. It is important to pay attention to the fulfillment of excellent nutrition and to optimize every stage of its growth. According to estimates, 10% of the children in the Amanah Kahmi playgroup are malnourished due to nutritional abnormalities, and many parents lack awareness of the importance of feeding children a healthy diet. It could impact the risk of infectious disease and growth issues. This activity aims to inform parents about the monitoring of a child's nutritional condition and the preparation of nourishing foods for young children. The activity began with education on assessing children's nutritional status and putting it into practice by measuring the height and weight of 35 school students and then applying it using the WHO child nutrition monitoring chart. The results showed that 19 children with normal weight categories consisting of 5 boys and 14 girls; 8 children with poor nutritional status consisting of 7 boys and 1 girl; and 8 children close to the normal nutritional limit, consisting of 2 girls and 6 boys. The activity was followed by educating parents regarding balanced nutrition for children through the video presentation and preparation of nutritious food for children. This activity is expected to increase knowledge and assist parents in monitoring the growth and development of children and providing nutritious food for children to prevent nutritional disorders in early childhood.

Abstract:
The improvement of the nutritional status of the Indonesian children require an increase in food production, per capita income, level of education, better environmental hygiene, immunization and health services and nutrition education. Nutrition education is an important as an adequate food supply (by the government) and purchasing power as long as long as ignorance and superstitions concerning food are present. The importance of nutrition education is realized by the lndonesian government and is reflected in its Five Years Development Plans. Nutrition education will be emphasized and included in the program of health improvement. There should be ''educators" (in nutrition) available to make this program a success. The medical doctor, even more the pediatrician, is potentially, the right person as nutrition educator. However, the clue is that each doctor realizes the importance of nutrition education and does nutrition education, making the best use of his/her potentials.

Abstract:
AimTo synthesise a selection of UK medical students’ and doctors’ views surrounding nutrition in medical education and practice.MethodsInformation was gathered from surveys of medical students and doctors identified between 2015 and 2018 and an evaluation of nutrition teaching in a single UK medical school. Comparative analysis of the findings was undertaken to answer three questions: the perceived importance of nutrition in medical education and practice, adequacy of nutrition training, and confidence in current nutrition knowledge and skills.ResultsWe pooled five heterogeneous sources of information, representing 853 participants. Most agreed on the importance of nutrition in health (>90%) and in a doctor’s role in nutritional care (>95%). However, there was less desire for more nutrition education in doctors (85%) and in medical students (68%). Most felt their nutrition training was inadequate, with >70% reporting less than 2 hours. There was a preference for face-to-face rather than online training. At one medical school, nutrition was included in only one module, but this increased to eight modules following an increased nutrition focus. When medical students were asked about confidence in their nutrition knowledge and on advising patients, there was an even split between agree and disagree (p=0.869 and p=0.167, respectively), yet few were confident in the UK dietary guidelines. Only 26% of doctors were confident in their nutrition knowledge and 74% gave nutritional advice less than once a month, citing lack of knowledge (75%), time (64%) and confidence (62%) as the main barriers. There was some recognition of the importance of a collaborative approach, yet 28% of doctors preferred to get specialist advice rather than address nutrition themselves.ConclusionThere is a desire and a need for more nutrition within medical education, as well as a need for greater clarity of a doctor’s role in nutritional care and when to refer for specialist advice. Despite potential selection bias and limitations in the sampling frame, this synthesis provides a multifaceted snapshot via a large number of insights from different levels of training through medical students to doctors from which further research can be developed.

Abstract:
Globally, 30%-40% of cancer patients are at nutritional risk, while about 20% of patients die due to malnutrition rather than the tumor itself. Malnutrition in cancer patients can occur at any stage, thus, it is necessary to carry out multimodal nutrition education on several different occasions. We believe that providing education at three important stages: upon admission, during hospitalization and at discharge can provide a good outcome. Multimodal nutrition education can include materials that are experienced through three different senses: seeing, hearing and touching, and can include online education, offline education, oral education and brochures. This literature review indicated that providing nutrition education can not only improve the nutritional status of cancer patients, but can also improve the ability of patients and their families to manage their own nutrition.

Abstract:
The teaching and learning of nutrition science as well as its application to clinical practice are all included in the dynamic and ever-evolving discipline of nutrition therapy education (NTE). A range of viewpoints are necessary for NTE educators to properly instruct and engage students. This review article examines the perspectives in NTE and suggests crucial viewpoints that are necessary for efficient instruction. The scientific basis of nutrition is essential for NTE educators. This includes knowledge of biochemistry, physiology, and the scientific method. NTE educators should have a strong understanding of clinical nutrition practice. This includes knowledge of assessment techniques, nutrition interventions, and the management of various medical conditions. NTE educators should be aware of the cultural diversity of their students and how culture influences food choices and nutrition beliefs. NTE educators should understand the nutritional needs of individuals across the lifespan, from infancy to old age. NTE educators should recognize that nutrition is one aspect of a person's overall health and well-being. They should consider the interconnectedness of nutrition, physical activity, mental health, and social factors. NTSE educators should encourage students to think critically about nutrition information and to evaluate the credibility of sources. These six viewpoints can be incorporated into NTE to assist educators in giving their students a more thorough and interesting learning experience. Through an awareness of the various perspectives that impact nutrition, NTE instructors may better equip their students to become well-rounded and productive nutritionists.

Abstract:
The impact of providing nutrition education on the nutritional knowledge of young athletes in IndonesiaBackground: A lack of nutritional knowledge can lead to poor eating habits and nutritional deficiencies in young athletes. One of the issues leading to athletes' need for more knowledge is the absence of professional assistance in educating them about nutrition. Objective: This research was analyzed to investigate the impact of nutrition education through counseling and group-based nutrition education on the nutritional knowledge of young athletes in Indonesia. Methods: This study is a pre-and post-experimental study without control. One hundred eighty-five young athletes who trained in PPLP and SKO received nutrition intervention for two months, including three nutrition education sessions using sports nutrition module media, nutritional counseling, and eating assistance based on eating etiquette. A modified Abridged Nutrition for Sport Knowledge Questionnaire (ANSKQ) questionnaire assessed athletes' nutritional knowledge before and after the intervention. Data was examined by comparing scores before and after the intervention. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used in the normality test, and a paired t-test was used to compare nutritional knowledge before and after the intervention. Results: Before the intervention, 88.65% had a low level of knowledge about nutrition. The scores for sports nutrition and overall nutritional knowledge increased significantly (p<0.05). The scores of general nutrition knowledge increased but were not significant (p>0.05). Conclusions: There was a significant increase in sports nutrition knowledge but not general nutrition knowledge. The provision of nutritional education assisted by nutritionists impacts athletes' nutritional knowledge.

Abstract:
Understanding balanced nutrition in children and toddlers is the key to success in efforts to prevent nutritional problems (Adriani, Kartika, 2011). Nahdlatul Wathon Elementary School is a private elementary school in the Sumberbaru area, Jember Regency which has the habit of eating lunch together with provisions from each home. From routine learning activities, it is known that the habit pattern that is instilled from the family, especially from the role of mother and family, is that healthy and nutritious food is expensive food. Children's understanding of balanced nutrition has an impact on attitudes and behavior in selecting and providing food ingredients and on children's appetite, so providing education to students about the components of balanced nutrition and providing an understanding that nutritious food is not expensive food is a solution to nutritional problems through activities community service through Balanced Nutrition Education activities using the fill my plate method at Nahdlatul Wathan Elementary School. Balanced nutrition education activities are carried out at the stage of brainstorming by asking questions about what food they consume every day. Then ask about their favorite food. The activity then continues by showing a video of the children's song "My Plate". After observing the video of the contents of my plate, students were invited to sing together. At the end of the activity, share pictures of plates and various side dishes and then ask students to arrange balanced nutrition according to what they understand.

Objective: This study aimed to obtain an objective overview of nutritional topics discussed in community pharmacies to adapt the nutrition-related course content in pharmacy education. Methods: We performed an observational study between July 2014 and April 2015 in 136 community pharmacies in Belgium. During four months, each pharmacy intern recorded the first two food- and nutrition-related cases with which they were confronted. Each case was classified into one of 18 categories. Results: 1004 cases were included by 135 pharmacy interns. The most often discussed subjects include “food supplements” (38%), “baby food” (19%), and “healthy food and nutritional recommendations” (11%). In 45% (447/1004) of all cases, pharmacy interns were able to immediately discuss the cases without searching for additional information. Eventually, after looking up extra information, 95% (958/1004) of cases could be answered. Conclusions: Food- and nutrition-related cases are discussed in primary healthcare. We recommend food- and nutrition-related courses in the curriculum of every healthcare profession.

Cel.

Abstract:
The low level of nutritional knowledge among athletes and coaches in Indonesia is on of the main problems. Therefore, it is important to know the role of nutrition education on improvment in knowledge, attitudes, and behavior and factors which affect the nutritional knowledge of the subject. Narrative review literature has a more flexible structure. The search for the source of article was carried out using Google Scholar, Pubmed, and Elsevier using the key terms: “education” “requirement”, “nutrition status”, “nutrition”, and “athletes”. Increased knowledge, attitudes, and behavior can apply consumption patterns that can meet nutritional needs as an athlete and for coaches, officials, and administrators can provide encouragement as a peer group in implementing balanced nutrition patterns in athletes' daily lives.

Abstract:
Evidence of the importance of maternal nutrition during pregnancy is growing, and midwives are the healthcare professionals in charge of monitoring pregnancy. In the present review, the aim is therefore to look at the relevant contributions on midwifery and the role of midwifery in the provision of nutritional education. Searches were conducted on three databases—Medline, PubMed Central, and Web of Science—using two key search terms (“nutrition” and “midwives”) and their synonyms, for an extensive set of results. The final selection consisted of 27 original papers, most of which concerned the nutritional knowledge of midwives, their training, and their views, attitudes, and practices within the field of nutrition. According to the findings, although the midwives considered nutritional education to be part of their role and they agreed on the importance of nutrition during pregnancy, their knowledge of this topic was poor, perhaps due to inadequate nutritional education during their midwifery training. Academic programs on midwifery must therefore be reviewed, so as to increase the workload of nutrition-related subjects, in order to reinforce the corresponding knowledge bases of future midwives. In addition, based on the success of the nutritional interventions discussed in the present review, these sorts of initiatives could be of utmost importance to improve the knowledge of practicing midwives. In any case, it must be highlighted that the available evidence discussed in this review was drawn from only a few countries around the world. Further studies involving midwives of varied origins are therefore needed. Such research would be of immense assistance in the design of the corresponding nutritional interventions in the field, so as to improve the health of pregnant women.

Abstract:
Nutrition literacy, which is one of the important components of health literacy, includes basic nutritional information and understanding, interpreting and having the ability to make healthy decisions on nutrition-related issues. This study aims to dwell upon the relationship between sociodemographic and anthropometric variables and nutritional knowledge and nutrition literacy. A total of 1600 people aged 19–64 years, 934 women and 666 men, voluntarily participated in the research in the capital city of Turkey. The mean age is 28.2 ± 10.9 years. More than half of the participants (57.4%) have a university graduate/postgraduate education level, and 66.2% are unemployed. This cross-sectional study evaluated demographic information, anthropometric measurements, nutritional information and nutrition literacy. Nearly all the respondents (94.6%) were determined to have sufficient nutrition literacy. Body mass index (BMI) and age were negatively associated with nutrition literacy, whilst nutrition knowledge was positively associated. Respondents with nutrition education at school had the highest nutrition knowledge and nutrition literacy scores, and primary school graduates had the lowest. Participants who received nutrition education scored higher in all the subgroups of the GNKQ. Age, gender, marital status, education status, employment status, BMI and nutrition education were significantly associated with nutrition literacy. The results will be useful in developing food and nutrition policies that will pave the way for making decisions on the most useful themes of health and nutrition campaigns.
