Eating problems and nutritional status were studied in a consecutive series of 104 stroke patients admitted to emergency hospital care. During their stay in hospital eating problems were observed in 46 patients. Abstract:
Over the years, the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) has been at the forefront of the government’s efforts to alleviate poverty and improve health and nutrition outcomes among the most vulnerable Filipino families. This program, which offers financial assistance in return for complying with health, education, and nutrition-related requirements, has shown positive effects on children's nutritional outcomes. This study investigates how children's nutritional outcomes are affected by conditional cash transfers (i.e., 4Ps) in the Philippines. It aims to explore the role that the 4Ps play

This presentation deals with the relationship between malnutrition and behavior patterns. As examples on how nutrition affects human social development it presents a series of crossed indicators such as neonatal iron status and temperament and height and weight as predictors of achievement, grade repetition and dropout in rural Peru. This presentation was commissioned by the Poverty Reduction and Social Protection Network of the Regional Policy Dialogue for the VI Hemispheric Meeting celebrated on December 9th and 10th, 2003. Can clinic based data give good estimates of program impact? Most large scale nutrition interventions do not have accompanying social experiment. Nature of program; costs; political constraints. Clinic based data on nutritional status is available virtually everywhere. Useful to know whether these data can be used for program evaluation.
