Abstract:
A temporary confinement of the quaternary tetramethylammonium tetrafluoroborate (TMA BF4) salt among polyamide molecules has been used for the preparation of aliphatic polyamide nylon 6,6 fibres with high-modulus and high-strength properties. In this method, the suppression or the weakening of the hydrogen bonds between the nylon 6,6 segments has been applied during the conventional low-speed melt spinning process. Thereafter, after the complete hot-drawing stage, the quaternary ammonium salt is fully extracted from the drawn 3 wt.% salt-confined fibres and the nascent fibres are, subsequently

Nylon 6/66 copolymer with 0-10wt% content of hexamethylene adipamide salt (AH-salt) was prepared by melt polycondensation. It was found that the comprehensive performance of the copolymer was the best with 8wt% content of AH-salt through the test of tensile properties and bibulous rate. Compared with the performance of nylon 6 under the same condition, the elongation at break was increased by 131.04% (the stretching rate was 30mm•min-1) to 274.41%, the tensile strength increased by 19.38% to 64.68MPa, and the bibulous rate was decreased by 8.58% to 2.14%.

Nylon 5T is one of the bio-based nylons, its raw material 1,5-pentanediamine is derived from biomass resources and produced by biological methods. 1,5-pentanediamine-terephthalate (PDA-TPA) is the monomeric salt for nylon 5T polymerization, and its own product quality has a significant impact on the performance of nylon 5T. PDA-TPA was prepared by anti-solvent crystallization in this study. It exists in two solid forms, a monohydrate [form (I)] and an anhydrous phase [form (II)]. The transition temperature of the two phases was around 65°C in the given ethanol–water binary (7:1) mixture. The c

ABSTRACT Poly-γ-glutamate (PGA) is a chiral polyamide material that possesses a nylon-like backbone, a bionylon polymer. We examined the PGA productivity of Bacillus megaterium and found NaCl-responsive PGA production in the bacterium. In the system of B. megaterium, salt would be significant in controlling the yield, molecular size, and stereochemistry of bionylon.

Abstract:
One of the most common environmental exposures that nylon undergoes, when used for automotive applications, is that of salt splash, which commonly occurs during winter driving. This study looks at the effect of various salts (NaCl, KCl, CaCl2) on the thermal and mechanical properties of nylon when exposed to one and four molar aqueous salt solutions. It was found that the diffusion of salt solutions into nylon 6,6 occurred in a pseudo-Fickian manner. Also, it was found that the presence of salt had an effect on the rate of decrease of yield stress with increasing exposure time. The presenc

Polymer/clay nanocomposites currently attract immense interest from both research and industrial communities. By dispersing at the molecular level a tiny amount of clay within a polymeric matrix, a wide range of properties can be significantly improved. The efficiency of the clay (layered silicate) in improving the properties of the polymer materials is primarily determined by the degree of its dispersion in the polymer matrix. To promote the molecular and stable dispersion of the clay layers, the clays should be organically-modified with onium salts. In this work, nylon-6 nanocomposites based
