Full textPulverized coal injection (PCI) is used in the blast furnace tuyeres attempting to provide energy and reducing gases to the process. New technologies have been studied to improve PCI and to make ironmaking process suitable to environmental requirements. Oxy-fuel combustion technology consists of burning coal in a N2-free atmosphere, which is exchanged by a CO2-rich gas. Aiming at a possible application of oxy-fuel combustion in blast furnace, chars of three typical PCI coals of different ranks were obtained under conventional (O2/N2) and oxy-fuel (O2/CO2) atmospheres in drop tube furnace. The aim of this work was to evaluate the CO2 reactivity of these chars via thermogravimetric analysis by isothermal method at 1000ºC. Coals burnouts, BET surface areas of chars and chars morphology before gasification gave support in the reactivity results analyse. In general, the higher reactivities were observed for the lower rank coal chars. Reactivity increased when coal burnouts and chars BET surface areas also increased. The CO2 reactivities of conventional and oxy-fuel chars, obtained under the same oxygen content, have not shown significant differences.

Full textThe problem dealt with in this thesis is that of transcending the ambivalence of life and living and this, in the context of paschal law of the grain falling to earth. A trajectory is outlined here, from blasphemy to consent, that doesn't attempt to evade anything. Progress is not linear, doubt is maintained to the end. Many stages the progression : to utter the name - and maybe already the name -, to discover the rebellious god, to desire "to heal", to make oneself present, to dare to confess, to "put one's hand on one's mouth", to precede oneself in speech and enter into paradox, to rejoice, to collapse and dare to weigh, to choose to "allow oneself to be determined" by god. The decisive movement of swinging from "no" to "yes" corresponds to the substitution in jacob, that key work, of the preposition "vers" ("towards") in place of the expected preposition "contre" ("against") in the nominal phrase : "incessant dispute with ("vers") you"

Full textThis research is formally classified as a study of Franco-Vietnarnese non governmental relations. It deals with the evaluation of the French non-governmental organisations (OSI), one of the major contributors who has significantly invested in Vietnam as well as in many humanitarian endeavours to aid in the development since 1975. On one level, it takes into consideration these various aspects: origin, structure, resources, practices, employment conditions, and modes of intervention at the national office as well as in the field. On the other level, it indicates gratitude for the diversity study and the implemented actions taken. It also indicates the assets they have above other participants, the weaknesses that limit theirs actions, the relations they have established with other partners, and the role they play in instituting social policies for the country. The objective is to clarify the factors that constitute and affect this community, and to indicate how they can obtain the objective of thejr function in the particular Vietnamese context marked by the seizure of a Party Government and the presence of a great number of international actors. Over 300 French NGOs working in Vietnam is an impressive phenomenon. Their contribution to the promotion of Franco-Vietnamese relations is undeniable, However, this motivated and competent community has suffered from jnsufficient attention from the political protagonists of the two countries. There are many things that can be done by both the public authorities and the non governmental organisations to make French help more efficient and to give an exemplary image of the cooperation between a developed country and a developing one

Introduction: Colorectal cancer is one of the most frequent cancers in our country as well as in most of the occidental societies. Environmental factors play a crucial role on its development. Nutrients and in concrete fat seems to be one of the most determinant components. Although relatively high fat diets are consumed in Greenland, Finland and some Mediterranean areas, colorectal cancer incidence remains relatively low there. An important difference between these regions and the rest of the western countries is the much higher consumption of fish and fish oil (rich in the n-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic, C20:5 and docosahexaenoic, C22:6) in the case of the Northern countries, and fish and olive oil (containing mostly oleic acid, C18:1, n-9) down in the Mediterranean basin.
The hypothesis of our study was if "fish oil and olive oil are able to modulate the colorectal cancer development".
Aims: The objectives of this study were to evaluate the mechanisms implicated in the modulation of cancer by these oils and determine the implications of its fatty acids.
Results: In order to answer the objectives mentioned above we followed two study strategies. First, we performed: in vitro studies using adenocarcinoma cell lines, Caco-2 and Ht-29. The other one is the study of the effects of several nutrients in an animal model of carcinogenesis induction .
Fish oil and olive oil induced the differentiation of Caco-2 cells. As a result of this differentiation, the cells began to express Sucrase-Isomaltase and Dipeptydilpeptidase IV enzymes.
Homeostasis regulation of colonic tissue depends on a tightly relationship between cell proliferation and cell loss, through apoptosis.
With [3H] thymidine incorporation studies, we demonstrated that fish oil has an important inhibitor effect on the proliferation of Caco-2 and HT-29 cells. It seems that this effect is caused by EPA i DHA (n-3 fatty acids present in fish oil). The most important effect on the development of colorectal cancer by fish oil and olive oil is the induction of apoptosis. To determine the Apoptotic index we evaluated cell morphologic changes by DAPI staining.
Fish oil, olive oil, as well as DHA, EPA and oleic acid are able to increase apoptosis in a significant manner. These effects are related to a very fast inhibition of the expression of COX-2. Antipoptotic Bcl-2 protein expression decreases after Cox-2 expression inhibition, suggesting that these two genes are implicated in the antineoplastic effects. On the other hand, we demonstrated a clear implication of the proapoptotic protein BAX, because when an inhibitor of BAX was added, apoptosis significantly decreased.
Fish oil and olive oil have an important protective effect in the induction of colorectal carcinogenesis in animals which received an azoximethane treatment. Animals fed with fish oil and olive oil as a principal source of fatty acids in its diet, showed a higher apoptotic index. On the other hand, fish oil may have a preventive effect due to an acceleration of the turnover of colonic epithelia through the induction of apoptosis of these cells.
Conclusions: Fish oil can modulate the development of colorectal cancer in cellular differentiation, proliferation and apoptosis processes. Fish oil could have a preventive effect on the development of colorectal cancer modifying the regeneration of normal colonic epithelial. Olive oil could modulate the development of colorectal cancer although not having effects in all of the studied mechanisms.
