Abstract:
Asiatic citrus canker, caused by Xanthomonas citri pv. citri, is a bacterial disease of major economic importance in tropical and subtropical citrus-producing areas. X. citri pv. citri pathotype A can cause severe infection in a wide range of citrus species and induces erumpent, callus-like lesions with water-soaked margins evolving to corky cankers and leading to premature fruit and leaf drop and twig dieback on susceptible/very susceptible cultivars. A chlorotic halo is typically visible around canker lesions on leaves and young fruit, but not on mature fruit and twigs. This quarantine organ

A year round phytosociological study was carried out in 2012 to study different forest types in Pashupati Sacred Grove in Kathmandu Valley. Concentric circular plots (n-19) were laid down along eight parallel transects, 100 m apart from each other, traversing north and south passing through various vegetations. Our results showed that the grove had experienced change in forest types over the time period. Three forest types namely Schima-Pyrus, Moist (Myrsine- Persea) and Mixed (Quercus-Myrsine) were identified based on the importance value Index (IVI) of tree species instead of Myrsine-Schima

Dimethylsulfide (DMS) is recognised as a potentially significant climate-forcing gas, owing to its role in particle and cloud formation in the marine atmosphere, where it is the dominant source of acidity. Ammonia, the dominant naturally occurring base in the atmosphere, plays an important role in neutralising particles formed from DMS oxidation products and may even enhance the formation rate of new particles. A biogeochemical coupling has previously been proposed between DMS and ammonia fluxes from the ocean to the atmosphere, in the form of coproduction of the two gas

Abstract. Mesoscale eddies seem to play an important role for both the hydrography and biogeochemistry of the eastern tropical Pacific Ocean (ETSP) off Peru. However, detailed surveys of these eddies are not available, which has so far hampered an in depth understanding of their implications for nutrient distribution and biological productivity. In this study, three eddies along a section at 16°45´ S have been surveyed intensively during R/V Meteor cruise M90 in November 2012. A coastal mode water eddy, an open ocean mode water eddy and an open ocean cyclonic eddy have been identified and samp

Striped marlin is a highly migratory species distributed throughout the North Pacific Ocean, which shows considerable variation in spatial distribution as a consequence of habitat preference. This species may therefore shift its range in response to future changes in the marine environment driven by climate change. It is important to understand t

The 147 specimens examined belong to nine species of four families: Phreodrilidae, Naididae, Tubificidae and Enchytraeidae. Extreme problems and their practical applications have been under the scrutiny of mathematicians since ancient times. An important step in the development of extreme problems was made by P. L. A significant role of the formation of the theory of approximation of functions was played by Carl Weierstrass’s theorem on the convergence to zero of best approximations by polynomials of a continuous function. The transfer of water from evaporating regions to precipitating regions drives the global water cycle, and understanding its dynamics is essential in determining how weather patterns will respond to changes in global climate. An intensification of the global water cycle has been reported using 50-year sea surface salinity data (Durack and Wijffels, 2010, J. Climate) with the consequence of more frequent extreme weather events. However, data under extreme weather conditions over the ocean are rare and a lot of physics remains to be investigated. A two-dimensional plane wave fit method is employed to 1) suppress mesoscale contamination by extracting internal tides with both spatial and temporal coherence and 2) separately resolve multiple internal tidal waves. Global maps of amplitude, phase, energy, and flux of mode-1 M2 internal tides are presented. The M2 internal tides are mainly generated over topographic featur

The writers are similar in their innovativeness, a thirst for experimentation. Both of them mainly worked outside Argentina, which also influenced the poetics of the novels.
