《Ochikubo-monogatari》is the earliest masterpiece from the existent 「the story of stepchild abuse」.This work employs the realistic technique to describe the real social situation. Neither does the work exist redundant unnecessarily modification nor appears other hypocritical decoration. In addition, the writer represents the supernatural contents with the realistic description which makes the mythic description disappear in《Ochikubo-monogatari》. This thesis aims to discuss the reality depiction in this work through characters personalities, scenic settings, contents and writing skills. In Chapter One, we will first analyze and compare the differences between Chinese and Japanese 「momokoizimetan」. By doing this, we expect to have a further understanding on the reality of《Ochikubo-monogatari》. Chapter Two will move directly to the reality and realistic description in 《Ochikubo-monogatari》. We will explore the realistic description through character’s personality, behavior patter, and parodic scene. Furthermore, we will make a process to analyze the reality through “objects” in Chapter Three. The purpose of this chapter is to find out the reality depicted in the work. At last, we will examine the reality and realistic description in 《Ochikubo-monogatari》by the emotionally expressive words in Chapter Four.
