Abstract:
The oxidation of cyanide by peroxide in alkaline aqueous solution is catalysed by copper complexes. In the presence of excess cyanide, copper(II) is reduced to form the tricyanocuprate (I) complex. The cyanogen oxidation product is hydrolysed with disproportionation to cyanate and cyanide:2CuII+2CN-→ 2CuI+(CN)2(CN)2+2OH- → OCN-+CN-+H2OCuI+3CN- ↔ Cu(CN)32-The stoichiometry and kinetics of the catalysed oxidation have been investigated. Hydrogen peroxide oxidizes coordinated cyanide with a rate that is first order in peroxide and first order in copper but independent of cyanide concentration in

To improve the mechanical properties of the casting alloys, various attempts have been made to use alternative casting technologies. The Ohno continuous casting (OCC) process is a unidirectional solidification method, which leads to high-quality cast samples. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of the casting process parameters, such as casting speeds and cooling conditions, on the crystallization characteristics and mechanical properties of OCC-Al-Si-Cu-Mg alloy.

AbstractTrace mineral assemblages in the bornite- and chalcopyrite-rich Cu-Fe zone of the Ocna de Fier-Dognecea skarn deposits, Banat, SW Romania provide additional constraints on the genesis of this classic zoned skarn system. Observed assemblages substantiate a model, in which the Cu-Fe zone forms the proximal fluid-plume root of the system. Observed trace mineral assemblages in the magnesian forsterite-bearing skarns crystallized at ~650°C in a volatile-rich environment, evidenced by widespread phlogopite, ludwigite, valleriite and apatite. The entire assemblage thus belongs to the initial

Fertilization affects soil processes in many ways that remain unclear. The effects of N, P, and K application on plant growth and Cu and Pb accumulation were thus evaluated in a soil-maize system using five treatments: N, P, and K application; N and P application; N and K application; P and K application; and control (no fertilization). Compared to the control, fertilizer application treatments, especially N application, significantly increased maize photosynthetic rate, which further improved shoot biomass production. To investigate the effect of coal mining on soil quality, opencast and underground mining sites were selected in the Raniganj coalfield area, India. The physical, chemical, and biological parameters of the soils, and trace metals and PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) in the soils were evaluated. Cu-Al layered double hydroxide (LDH) was intercalated with Keggin ion of polyoxometalate K4[a-SiW12O40] to form Cu-Al-SiW12O40 LDH. The obtained materials were analyzed by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR) spectroscopy, and Brunaur-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area analysis. Furthermore, the materials were used as adsorbents of malachite green from aqueous solution. Some variables for adsorption, such as: effect of adsorption times, malachite green concentration, and also adsorption temperature, were explored. The results showed that diffraction at 11.72° on Cu-Al LDH

Crystalline phases of thin films were controlled by adjusting N2/ O2flow rate ratio and sputtering power precisely during the sputtering process, and the single phase of Cu2O(111) thin films were obtained at room temperature. The thin films deposited at different sputtering powers were characteristics of 2D growth and the root mean square (RMS) of surface roughness of thin films gradually increased with the increasing of sputtering power.
