Abstract:
Amarochara formicina sp. n. (Canada: New Brunswick), the 26th representative of the genus in the Holarctic region, is described and illustrated. The following synonymy and new combination are proposed: Amarochara freyi (Bernhauer, 1940), comb. n. (ex Ocyusa) = Amarochara splendens Jarrige, 1952, syn. n. Additional records are reported for several species of the Palaearctic and Nearctic regions. The previously unknown aedeagus of A. inquilina (Casey, 1906) is illustrated.

AbstractPrevious research on the rates of juvenile re‐offending have been found to be as high as 66% when measuring recidivism by rearrest and as high as 33% when measuring re‐offending by reconvictions within one to three years of release. However, accurately estimating a national juvenile recidivism rate is problematic. This is even more complicated when attempting to determine recidivism for delinquency prevention programs. One of the oldest, and perhaps most successful of these programs, is the Oakland County (Michigan) Youth Assistance Program (OCYA), which began in 1953. The present pape

Abstract Investigation of the reciprocal effects of hematopoietic cell types and osteolineage cells on each other’s cell fates have clinical applications to improve bone fracture healing, prevent age-related bone loss and immune deficiencies. A significant knowledge gap exists as to the contribution of different osteolineage cells to the differentiation, proliferation, and long term survival of B cells in the BM. In global sclerostin knockout (SostKO) mice, we previously uncovered a cell-extrinsic requirement for sclerostin on B lymphocyte development. It is widely accepted that sclerostin is

Abstract The von-Hippel Lindau protein (VHL) regulates hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) degradation. Conditional-deletion of VHL in osteoblasts and in hematopoietic progenitors have demonstrated a role for VHL in these cell types, but how changes in bone homeostasis affects immune development are not fully understood. Osteoblasts (OBs) support B cell development. OBs mature into osteocytes (OCYs) and to test if OCYs also support B cell development, we generated OCY-specific (Dmp-Cre) conditional VHL knockout (cKO) mice. cKO mice display dysregulated bone growth, high bone density, smaller bone m

The imbalance that occurs in bone remodeling induced by irradiation (IR) is the disruption of the balance between bone formation and bone resorption. In this study, primary osteocytes (OCYs) of femoral and tibial origin were cultured and irradiated. It was observed that irradiated OCY showed extensive DNA damage, which led to the initiation of a typical phenotype of cellular senescence, including the secretion of senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), especially the C-C motif chemokine ligand 5 (CCL5).
