Abstract:
Background: Most of male infertility are caused by defect in sperm motility (asthenozoospermia). The molecular mechanism of low sperm motility in asthenozoospermic patients has not been fully understood. Sperm motility is strongly related to the axoneme structure which is composed of microtubules and supported by outer dense fiber (ODF) and fibrous sheath (FS) protein. The objective of this study was to characterize the ODF (ODF1 and ODF2) expression in asthenozoospermic infertile male and control normozoospermic fertile male. Methods: Asthenozoospermic samples (n=18) were collected from infertile patients at Andrology Lab, Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital Jakarta and control were taken from normozoospermic fertile donor (n=18). After motility analyses by computer-assisted sperm analysis (CASA), semen were divided into two parts, for Western blot and for immunocytochemistry analysis. Antibody against ODF1 and ODF2 protein were used in both analyses. Results: Analysis of ODF1 protein expression showed bands with molecular weight of ~30 kDa and ODF2 ~85 kDa. The mean band intensity of ODF1 and ODF2 protein were lower in the asthenozoospermic group (AG) compared to normozoospermic group (NG). Moreover, both ODF proteins were less intense and less localized in the AG than NG. Sperm motility was lower in AG, compared to control NG, i.e. average path velocity (VAP) = 32.07 ± 7.03 vs 37.58 ± 8.73 µm/s, p = 0.455; straight line velocity (VSL) = 24.17 ± 6.90 vs 27.61 ± 4.50 µm/s, p = 0.317 and curvilinear velocity (VCL) = 45.68 ± 7.91 vs 55.55 ± 16.40 µm/s, p = 0.099.Conclusion: There is down-regulation of ODF1 and ODF2 protein expression and less-compact localization in AG sperm compared to the NG. These changes might have caused disturbances in the sperm motility as observed in this study.

Abstract:
The most used pharmaceutical formulations for children are syrups, suppositories, soft chewable capsules, and mini-tablets. Administrating them might create an administration discomfort. This study aimed to develop and evaluate orodispersible films (ODFs) for pediatric patients in which the fluoxetine (FX) is formulated in the polymeric matrix. Six FX fast dissolving films (10 mg FX/ODF), FX1, FX2, FX3, FX4, FX5, and FX6, were prepared by solvent casting technique. In the composition of the ODFs, the concentration of the hydroxypropyl methylcellulose and the concentration of the propylene glycol were varied. Each formulation of fluoxetine ODF was evaluated by determining the tensile strength, folding endurance, disintegration, behavior in the controlled humidity and temperature conditions, and adhesiveness. All the obtained results were compared with the results obtained for six ODFs prepared without FX. The disintegration time of the FX ODFs was of maximum 88 s for FX2. Via the in vitro releasing study of the FX from the ODFs it was noticed that FX1 and FX2 allow a better release of the drug 99.98 ± 3.81% and 97.67 ± 3.85% being released within 15 min. From the obtained results it was also confirmed that FX ODFs were found to follow first-order release kinetic.

Abstract:
A novel system that forms two-dimensional (2D) structures on a rotating drum and three-dimensional (3D) structures on 3D molds through proper integration of a laboratory scale meltblown unit with a small die and six-axis robot is briefly described. The system advantages over traditional systems are demonstrated. Parametric studies evaluating the effect of take-up speed, die-to-collector-distance (DCD), polymer throughput rate, and attenuating air pressure on the fiber orientation distribution functions (ODFs) of 2D structures formed by the system are reported. An additional new parameter termed “fiber-stream approach-angle” is introduced and its impact on the ODF of 2D structures is also reported. Under the experimental range studied, the ODFs were significantly impacted by the parameters studied. The fiber-stream approach angle showed the highest impact, among the parameter studied, on the ODF.

Abstract:
Most influenza vaccines are administered via injection, which is considered as user-unfriendly. Vaccination via oral cavity using an orodispersible film (ODF) might be a promising alternative. To maintain the antigenicity of the vaccine during preparation and subsequent storage of these ODFs, sugars such as trehalose and pullulan can be employed as stabilizing excipients for the antigens. In this study, first, β-galactosidase was used as a model antigen. Solutions containing β-galactosidase and sugar (trehalose or trehalose/pullulan blends) were pipetted onto plain ODFs and then either air- or vacuum-dried. Subsequently, sugar ratios yielding the highest β-galactosidase stability were used to prepare ODFs containing H5N1 whole inactivated influenza virus vaccine (WIV). The stability of the H5N1 hemagglutinin was assessed by measuring its hemagglutination activity. Overall, various compositions of trehalose and pullulan successfully stabilized β-galactosidase and WIV in ODFs. WIV incorporated in ODFs showed excellent stability even at challenging storage conditions (60 °C/0% relative humidity or 30 °C/56% relative humidity) for 4 weeks. Except for sugars, the polymeric component of ODFs, i.e., hypromellose, possibly improved stability of WIV as well. In conclusion, ODFs may be suitable for delivering of WIV to the oral cavity and can possibly serve as an alternative for injections.

Abstract:
Fabric tensor has proved to be an effective tool statistically characterizing directional data in a smooth and frame-indifferent form. Directional data arising from microscopic physics and mechanics can be summed up as tensor-valued orientation distribution functions (ODFs). Two characterizations of the tensor-valued ODFs are proposed, using the asymmetric and symmetric fabric tensors respectively. The later proves to be nonconvergent and less accurate but still an available solution for where fabric tensors are required in full symmetry. Analytic solutions of the two types of fabric tensors characterizing centrosymmetric and anticentrosymmetric tensor-valued ODFs are presented in terms of orthogonal irreducible decompositions in both two- and three-dimensional (2D and 3D) spaces. Accuracy analysis is performed on normally distributed random ODFs to evaluate the approximation quality of the two characterizations, where fabric tensors of higher orders are employed. It is shown that the fitness is dominated by the dispersion degree of the original ODFs rather than the orders of fabric tensors. One application of tensor-valued ODF and fabric tensor in continuum damage mechanics is presented.

Full text
Abstract:
¿a quienes?

Abstract:
This thesis deals with conversion of text documents from the format of so called formatting objects (XSL FO) to OpenDocument format (ODF). This conversion can be useful e. g. for distribution, printing or additional modification of a document in a text editor which supports ODF (e. g. OpenOffice). The thesis starts with description of both formats and it mentions basic elements that the formats offer for defining a text document. A comparison of both formats and description of possibilities of converting documents from XSL FO to ODF follows right after. The proved-by-practise and widely available XSLT transformation is chosen for the conversion implementation. It is illustrated on a sample application which enables to launch the conversion from an internet browser, from OpenOffice or from a command line.

Figueiredo, Rosa Edite Maria. "ODAM: valores modernos e a comfontação com a realidade produtiva." Doctoral thesis, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, 2006. http://hdl.handle.net/10803/6819.

Abstract:

This dissertation instigate upon the premises of the modern and it's impact in the transformation of Portuguese architectonic practice, analyzed through the specificity of the architecture produced by a group of architects of Oporto, the ODAM group, that defended (the) modern ideals, in their individual and collective manifests. The aesthetic and conceptual foundations, constituted by this group, are researched as privileged instrument of Portuguese architectonic production outstanding the new proposal of the modernity in favour of Portuguese humanists and cultural values.

The election of this group stands on the idea of the "collective", as an ideological vehicle of divulgation of the "Modern" principles. Doctrine that is taken as collectives premises, accepted as transforming bases of architecture, in its respond to society, as a cultural phenomena, and that allowed, in the specificity of the group, to reveal the fundamental lines of a production confronted between the dialectic, of modern values and the permanent valences of cultural and productive artesian.

The general structure of the work was organized methodologically in four parts. The part I, is reserved to explain problematic issues within the work and summary the interrogations drown upon the analysis objects: the group ODAM. In the part II, are approached the general "apprehensions" (concerns) of this collective, showed through projects with a "expository" character and constituted/proposed by the group as "absolute models". The part III, deals with the intensive materialization of these concerns within the productive practice of the group, through the study of selected (constructed) works treated as, paradigmatic manners of doing. To conclude in the part IV, with a theoretical reflection, of the global production and a synthetic critical of the most relevant architectonic contributions elaborated by the group, intended to answer the interrogations brought out in the part I.
The centrality of the work lies in the demand of understanding this "specific collective formality", by the sighting of three categories (of actuation) common to the elements of the group, here denominated as patterns, that reveal the main concerns, essential to its characterization and inherent to its conception. The period of study among 1945 to 1955 correspond to the statement of identity of the Group ODAM, constituted in 1947 and with its acme within the exhibition in 1951at the commercial athenaeum of OPorto.

The first pattern contest generically with the (initial) production of modern performs of the Group, where the expressions of the artefacts are more substantial /weighty than their modern contents. In this stage are identified the first polemics works that imply the architects to associate in a vindicate group with common architectonic interests and actuations. At this stage the production reveals a commitment with the conventional values not in favour of a modern radical.
In the second pattern, the formal contents correspond to an aim/ to total trust/ to belong to the ethics ideals of the machine age that is reflected in original uses, innovative programs, in the "rationalization of the function", in a philosophy and methodology of project that it is mirrored in a more abstract form, as a universal code .

In the third pattern, assimilated the modern content, other focal beliefs maybe added. To the pure abstractness of the form is associated the local identity, more humanized and the search of other relegated valences, the "memory" and the "instinct."
These three patterns that are presented as premises, try to confirm through the crossing of the theoretical and project production of the group, its pertinence as new mater of modern values in Portuguese architecture.

To define the importance of the modern contents, discovered in Group ODAM'S statement, as precursors of a specificity, that one today generically designate as the school of Oporto, constitute one of the points of relevance of the work turning understandable and valuable the actual productive processes in Portuguese architecture.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Organizations need to exchange information simple and efficient, with costs as low as possible. Such information is sometimes presented as documents and with pre-defined content. These documents may be equivalent or nearly equivalent, but quite distinct in different organizations. In the same organization, documents can be different historical contexts. The purpose of this work is to enable interoperability of documents and achieve portability of digital documents through the reuse of content and format in different plausible combinations. We propose the characterization of digital documents using ontologies as a solution to the problem of lack of interoperability in the implementations of document formats. As proof of concept we consider the portability between ODF(Open Document Format) and OOXML (Office Open XML) document formats.

Abstract:
Anyone who reads Greek tragedy encounters moments of special elevation, greatness or transcendence in which the text seems to transport the reader/spectator out of himself to an sphere of heightened emotion and significance. Generally, as the result of a series of reasons, these moments in the action of the play create an effect of amazement, wonder and awe. During these moments, the characters on stage and the audience share a sensation of what may be called sublimity. It is the sort of moment in which either suffering, pleasure, inspiration or insight seem to associate to create an effect through which the spectator is taken by emotion or by understanding, by involvement or detachment, or better by a combination of these. The effect appears evident to me in scenes of tragic drama, particularly of Greek and Shakespearean tragedies. In Greek tragedy, one may consider as sublime some parts of the carpet scene in Aeschylus Agamemnon, the deception speech of Sophocles Ajax, or the second messenger speech in Euripides Bacchae. In Shakespeare, the apparition of the fathers ghost to Hamlet is stunning, and unleashes intense emotion and insight. The intention of this work is to examine some especially relevant passages of Greek tragedy and to try to trace structural elements that may concur to the creation of this sensation of elevation. It is evident that I refer to the sublime in subjective terms and, therefore, it is my aim to provide some objective ground upon which to support what I shall be identifying as moments of elevation, greatness and extreme emotion.

Abstract:

Abstract:
It is agreed that the main factors in sustainability are the environment, economy and the society; however, it is still largely undecided how organizations can best transform themselves to incorporate consideration of these factors. Successful integration of sustainability into the business plan will require an organization-wide effort. A proven technique in organizations for creating systemic change is Organization Development (OD). Unfortunately, OD has not yet been extended to include the key areas of sustainability and organized within a practical framework for implementation. This paper extends OD for Sustainability (ODFS), creating a conceptual model called here “the Sustainable House.” The conceptual model clarifies sustainable organizational characteristics and interdisciplinary interactions. The PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) approach is introduced as a framework for implementing ODFS. It is demonstrated that ODFS requires a substantial support structure and a dynamic learning process for accumulating knowledge. This article identifies key areas of ODFS and provides a conceptual model and a framework for operationalizing sustainability into organizations. Various sustainable tools, methodologies, interacting concepts and gaps in ODFS are also included.

Abstract:
Many governments in Asia and Africa have set ambitious target dates for their countries becoming open defecation free (ODF). Some have recently concluded national sanitation campaigns; a number of countries have campaigns underway; while others are in the conceptualising and planning process. Monitoring and reporting results is one of the key challenges associated with these campaigns. This Frontiers of Sanitation presents lessons learnt to date to inform ongoing and future government campaigns intended to end open defecation and improve access to safely managed sanitation. Firstly, we discuss campaigns, targets, monitoring, reporting, and verification arrangements, showing how these processes can be used to increase the credibility of national declarations and strengthen campaigns to respond to challenges. Secondly, we present case studies from India and Nepal, providing campaign-specific details from two recently declared ODF countries.

Abstract:
This issue of Frontiers of CLTS explores current thinking and practice on the topic of tackling slippage of open defecation free (ODF) status. It looks at how slippage is defined and identified, and at different patterns of slippage that are seen after ODF is declared. Although a considerable amount has been written on how to establish strong Community-Led Total sanitation (CLTS) programmes that prevent slippage from happening, this issue looks at how to reverse slippage that has already taken place. Note however, that at a certain level, strategies used to reverse slippage and those used in advance to set a programme up for success to prevent slippage occurring overlap. From the literature, there is little documented evidence on how slippage can be reversed; evidence and guidance tend to focus on prevention. This review begins to address this gap. Implementers are encouraged to use the proposed patterns of slippage framework and slippage factors section to understand the type and extent of slippage experienced, then use the examples in the section on tackling slippage to identify potential slippage responses. In addition to a review of current literature,1 in depth interviews were carried out with key informants at global, regional and country level. Key informants were selected purposively to identify experiences and innovations in tackling slippage from across the sector.

Full text
Abstract:
Community-Leave No One Behind (CLNOB) is a new participatory approach to identify both challenges and solutions in community's journeys towards ODF-S. It has been designed to be integrated into Phase II of the Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen (SBM-G). The government of India has issued the guidelines for Phase II of SBM-G, of which one of the guiding principles is ensuring that no one is left behind. CLNOB demonstrates a way to achieve this goal. It encourages communities to identify gaps in sanitation coverage and use and promote actions they can take themselves. The purposes of this handbook are two-fold: first to inform policymakers and stakeholders at all levels about this new initiative, and second to provide guidance to facilitators and practitioners for CLNOB implementation. This handbook is a living document and will be updated and refined after more field experiences are conducted. It is based on limited experience from a small pilot carried out between June and October 2020 during the challenging environment of the COVID-19 pandemic.
