Abstract:
The study radiographies the scientific contribution of Professor Odile Riondet in communication domain. It is ascertained that the standard R. T. Craig, of the "seven major traditions" of "communication field theory", is inapplicable. The method that is used is the axis of segregation of problems after expressed ideational. It emerges that Odile Riondet as advocate of SIC (Sciences de l'information et communication), is positioned by default in "communication science". It results that she has meritorious contributions to communication epistemology, in communication ethics, communication philosophy and communication anthropology. It is concluded that in the communication horizon, Odile Riondet can be remembered as outstanding specialist of the "communication anthropology" axis.

Abstract:
Methods of determining insulin sensitivity that use an oral challenge of glucose are preferred to those using intravenous administration since the measurement is made in conditions more akin to normal physiology. One previously reported protocol (ODILE) studies glucose uptake in isolation from absorption and endogenous production by the intravenous administration of tracer approximately forty-five minutes after the oral dose is given. However, this methodology has not been validated against other accredited procedures. This study utilizes the euglycemic hyperinsulinemic clamp in order to validate the ODILE method.

Abstract:

Paris 8, 2003. http://www.theses.fr/2003PA082355.

Abstract:
This thesis focuses on discourses as they are produced in context during the transmission of dance. The aim is to study the articulation between discourse, practical knowledge and aesthetic production in dance, in the field of poetics. An anthropological approach to fieldwork was chosen to observe the work of the choreographer Odile Duboc. The methodology included participant observation, video documentation, and formal and informal interviews including simple auto-confrontational techniques during which the choreographer explicated her own actions during their video replay. The results of the study enabled us to categorise the principal functions of discourse, and to understand how discourses enable the choreographer to generate qualitative nuances and to gain access to the genesis of the gesture. Moreover, these discourses convey, during the choreographic process, an ethical dimension. By appropriating the other's gesture, the dancer constructs a form of empowerment, imbued with knowledge and autonomy

Lemerle, Sébastien. "In carne veritas ? : le biologisme comme phénomène éditorial en France, 1970-2000." Paris, EHESS, 2007. http://www.theses.fr/2007EHES0080.

Full text
Abstract:
Numerous social theories inspired by biological sciences have been developing in France for decades. If one takes a look at the publishing field, where this development is particularly obvious, it occurs that such a phenomenon is more the result of the action of cultural go-betweens desirous of diffusing new conceptions of knowledge and modifying intellectual hierarchies, than a true revolution among the social sciences. The growth of biologism relies on the prestige accumulated by biology since World War II, as well as on the emergence of a new kind of intellectual, the « scientist ». It also rests on the contribution of biologism to the criticisms levelled at 1960's critical theories, as well as to the discussions concerning the « return of the subject » in the 1980's. It is taking shape with the promotion of a biopsychological social engineering that does not pay much attention to environmental factors (social, geographical, etc. )

Abstract:
Contemporary processes of urbanization have outpaced the traditional notion of city. Connectivity has become a distinctive characteristic of urban spaces, so that networked cities don’t rely anymore on continuous urbanized areas, but on connections that rarely leave a direct spatial footprint. The new spatial structure of urban areas include greater inter-penetration of built-up and open spaces, and the emergence of urban enclaves, which can be spatially isolated despite being functionally connected to a city. In order to study these enclaves and their impact on urban form, a sample of 47 Spanish functional urban areas was examined, ranging from 36,000 to 6.0 million inhabitants. Land use polygons provided by SIOSE were grouped into three main categories (residential, non-residential and urban infrastructure) and cross-matched with functional urban areas defined by AUDES (an iterative method than combines morphological and functional criteria) in order to calculate compactness proximity index, gross and net density. Factors that influence urban compactness were identified: most northern and some coastal urban areas display a low compactness which can be attributed to orographic conditions; bigger cities tend to display high compactness, but smaller ones display a great diversity of values, from the highest to the lowest. A further analysis of small and intermediate cities helped to identify two complementary mechanisms of urban growth, spatial expansion of core areas and functional integration of peripheral nuclei, whose ocurrence in different proportions can explain the variation of compactness in the studied sample.
