Abstract:
In this article, Laura Roy and Kevin Roxas draw from two studies with Somali Bantu refugee families in South Texas and Michigan. Findings from both study sites revealed a disconnect between how educators perceived the Somali Bantu families'educational goals and Somali Bantu families' actual views of education. In contrast to educators' perceptions, Somali Bantu caregivers stressed the high value they placed on education through their storytelling practices in the home that related past struggles, including experiences of violence and poverty. The stories told and advice given by parents and elders showed an embedded value of education within the community and a counter-story to the way in which Somali Bantu families were viewed by the majority of their teachers. The authors conclude that the discourse employed by educators was grounded in a deficit-based paradigm that created missed opportunities for connecting with Somali Bantu parents and marginalized students by blaming them rather than evaluating the lack of education provided to families in how to "do school" in the American context.

Abstract:
This article explored the range in teacher expectations held for Somali Bantu refugees using content analysis of one-on-one interviews with teachers who taught Somali Bantu students at an elementary school in Chicago. Analyses revealed the emergence of five categories of expectations: (a) general acculturative expectations around language and knowledge (b) behaviors, (c) internal attributes, (d) classroom behaviors, and (e) family/home. These findings raise questions about the potential danger of teacher’s expectations that might suggest assimilation to oppressive racial statuses. Implications for teachers and future research are discussed. Limitations and generalizability are also discussed.

This research is a software development research that aims to develop learning aids software for hardware subjects based on PHP (Perl Hypertext Preprocessor) in the Computer and Informatics Engineering Study Program, Department of Electrical Engineering Education, Faculty of Engineering, Makassar University. The design of instructional media is carried out by collecting learning materials then designing the software and the necessary database. The learning media that has been created are then validated by two media experts. The objects in this study were 37 students of class 04 class 2012 Informatics and Computer Engineering Education Department of Electrical Engineering Education Faculty of Engineering, Makassar State University, as many as 37 people who program hardware courses in the even semester of the 2012-2013 academic year. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire given to respondents. The results of the descriptive analysis show that the views of PTIK JPTE FT UNM students on the implementation of PHP learning media in the Hardware course are in the good category or equal to 91.89%.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of age and level of education on the performance of agricultural extension assistants, either simultaneously or partially. This research is an explanatory study with a quantitative approach. The sample of the research was the Agricultural Extension Assistants in Banyuwangi Regency. The sampling technique was a total sampling of 40 respondents. The main data of this research are primary data obtained by data collection techniques using a questionnaire. The analytical tool used multiple linear regression to determine the effect simultaneously and partially. The results showed that age and education level had a positive and significant effect on the performance of agricultural extension assistants, either simultaneously or partially.

Dube describes the introduction of Bantu Education and draws attention to the intended and unintended outcomes of this system. Software ini berguna dalam membantu proses analisis data jenis penelitian kualitatif grounded theory, dalam pengolahan datanya setiap data diberi coding sehingga memudahkan peneliti nantinya untuk memanggil kembali data tersebut sebagai bahan diskusi dalam penelitiannya. Melalui penelitian ini, peneliti memiliki harapan agar muncul prosedur proses analisis data kualitatif berbantuan ATLAS.ti, melalui contoh penerapan pada salah satu kasus di bidang pendidikan matematika. It became one of basic problem that the researcher wants to discuss. Hoping after all researchers read this study, the interest of them appeared to do qualitative research. In this study, researcher introduced one of data analysis qualitative software, namely ATLAS.ti. This software was useful in helping with the process of data analysis qualitative research, especially grounded theory. Grounded theory, as ATLAS.ti, was given coding in any research data. It would be making easier for researchers to call back data later, or so on. Based on this helpful thing, researcher hoped through this research it would create a procedure data analysis qualitative research assisted by ATLAS.ti. This procedure appeared through an example of an application of one case in the field of mathematics education. The result of this research was a procedure based on the case of researcher used.

This study was aimed at looking at teaching tools and materials (ABM / BBM) used by lecturers in implementing student-centered learning at institutions of higher learning. In this study, the implementation of a student-centered approach is only seen in one Malay language course. This study involved a Malay language lecturer as the main research participant, while the students involved during the learning process during the study were also made informants. The findings show that there are a variety of ABM / BBM used by lecturers for the purpose of promoting active involvement of students following the learning session. However, in order to ensure that the learning process takes place more smoothly in line with the development of the 21st century pedagogy and to address the challenges of Education 4.0, lecturers are advised to be more aware of the latest technology developments so that ABM / BBM can be used in class in line with world development education is now inseparable with technological developments.

Abstract‘High apartheid’ in the 1960s was marked by intensified efforts to redraw urban areas along racial lines and quash black South Africans' schooling and employment ambitions. The 1953 Bantu Education Act became infamous for limiting African educational opportunities. Yet this article shows how women in Umlazi Township, outside of Durban, schooled their children – despite and indeed because of apartheid's oppressive educational and urban policies. Drawing on oral histories and archival records, it explores the ‘bond of education’, the gendered material-emotional family connections that enabled schooling and resulted from schooling. In the face of increasingly insecure intimate relations, a booming economy, and expanded basic education, mothers' attention to their children's and grandchildren's education grew in importance and scale: education required sacrifices but promised children's eventual support.

Intellectual disabilities were people who have a level of intelligence so low (below normal) that they needed help in carrying out activities. People with intellectual disabilities can strike sexual violence because of the stigma about disabilities are a-sexual creatures, especially intellectual disabilities. Therefore, the community restricted the access of health information, especially sexual matters. Besides that, there were several obstacles in conveying health information to people with intellectual disabilities due to the limitations of mental retardation understanding the contents. This is also supported by the lack of media that used to deliver material to intellectual disabilities people. The purpose of this research is to produce a puzzle that can protect people with intellectual disabilities from sexual violence. Research and development with a qualitative approach. Using interview, document study and observation methods. The research subjects consisted of eleven people consisting of six teachers of SLB-C TPA Jember, one Headmaster of SLB-C TPA Jember, three psychologists of Garwita Institute and one media expert. Data collection tools are interview guides, observation guides, handphones and stationery. The knowledge about sexual violence and puberty of most informants was still lacking. The informants agreed that girls with intellectual disabilities have a problem with their puberty period and sexual violence. The teachers always give education about puberty and how to protect their self from sexual violence. The informants also agreed that girls with intellectual disabilities need a puzzle that has message education about puberty and sexual violence.

Currently education and poverty is a problem as it gives an enormous impact on people's lives. As we can see, the number of school dropouts has increased every day. Seeing this condition, Gerakan Bantu Seribu Anak Asuh (GBSA) is present to participate to help children who are less fortunate, to be able to stay in school. Gerakan Bantu Seribu Anak Asuh (GBSA) is a social community that bridges donors and children who are less fortunate to get help. In reality this donation management faced several obstacles both in terms of data management to the confirmation process donations made by donors each donating. Therefore, by presenting the android-based mobile applications is expected to be a solution to help officers GBSA share information and manage the donations were mandated as well as for donors could further facilitate the process of sharing and confirmation. Applications software development methods that will be used the method of Rapid Application Development (RAD). This method is one method used to develop apalikasi android with short cycles thereby enabling much faster. After testing with a method black box can be concluded that the system is in conformity with the expected goals.

ABSTRAKPengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan pada beberapa sekolah menengah atas di daerah Banjarmasin ini bertujuan untuk mengenalkan pemanfaatan teknologi sebagai media pembelajaran.Pengabdian ini berfokus pada pemanfaatan teknologi berbasis perangkat lunak Android pada ponsel siswa sekolah menengah atas di daerah Banjarmasin untuk digunakan sebagai media belajar. Sehingga pelajar tidak merasa jenuh saat melakukan aktivitas pembelajaran. Berdasarkan observasi dan pembagian angket pada 34 siswa di 5 sekolah menengah atas daerah Banjarmasin didapatkan bahwa lebih dari 80% siswa-siswa di sekolah menengah atas masih menggunakan media konvensional dalam memahami sebuah materi pelajaran. Selain itu penggunaan teknologi dalam memahami materi pembelajaran didapatkan siswa dari internet dan hanya sedikit yang mengetahui bahwa sudah ada aplikasi-aplikasi berbasis android yang bisa digunakan sebagai salah satu media pembelajaran. Hal ini menjadi salah satu faktor pendorong rendahnya minat anak untuk belajar sehingga ada anggapan jika mata pelajaran tertentu sangat sulit dipahami, terutama mata pelajaran berbasis sains. Salah satu solusi yang coba ditawarkan adalah penggunaan aplikasi berbasis android sebagai media pembelajar. Hal ini ditunjang dengan gaya keseharian pelajar zaman sekarang yang tidak terlepas dari penggunaan gawai. Sosialisasi penggunaan aplikasi kepada siswa sekolah menengah atas menunjukkan hasil yang positif, dimana siswa merasa terbantu untuk memahami materi pembalajaran. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari respon pengisisan kuosiener setelah pengenalan aplikasi, dimana lebih dari 95% responden merasa lebih mudah memahami materi dengan adanya aplikasi android. Kata kunci:pendidikan; perangkat lunak; teknologi. ABSTRACTThis community service which was carried out at several senior high schools in the Banjarmasin area aims to introduce the use of technology as a learning medium. This service focuses on the use of Android software-based technology on the mobile phones of high school students in the Banjarmasin area to be used as learning media. So that students do not feel bored when doing learning activities. Based on observations and questionnaires distribution to 34 students in 5 high schools in the Banjarmasin area, it was found that more than 80% of students in high schools still used conventional media in understanding a subject matter. In addition, the use of technology in understanding learning material is obtained by students from the internet and only a few know that there are Android-based applications that can be used as a learning medium. This is one of the factors driving children's low interest in learning so that there is an assumption that certain subjects are very difficult to understand, especially science-based subjects. One solution that is being offered is the use of Android-based applications as a learning medium. This is supported by the daily style of students today which cannot be separated from the use of gadgets. The socialization of the use of the application to high school students shows positive results, where students find it helpful to understand the learning material. This can be seen from the response to filling in the questionnaire after the introduction of the application, where more than 95% of respondents find it easier to understand the material with the android application. Dental caries is a dental problem that often arises in children. One of the factors that affect higher oral health problem is child behavioral factors associated with its children's knowledge about oral health, so it is important to educate children’s to increase their knowledge that will changes the child's behavior in a positive direction. Children as educational objectives have characteristics according to their physical and cognitive developmen, is important aspect that need to be considered to determine the correct media that we used to learn something to children. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference effect of dental health education between leaflet and pocket book in third grade students.The method that used in this study is non-equivalent control group design, Samples were taken using quota sampling technique. Total samples are 40 children. Both group are given pre-test and then 20 children given education using Leaflet at SDN 17 and 20 children using pocket book at SDN 20. Post test are given on day 7 after education. This study used T dependent test and T independent test (p<0,05). Statistical analysis showed increasing knowledge of this study is significant, the value before and after the given education used leaflets and pocket bookwith significant value of 0,000 (p<0,05). there is different between both media in incresing knowledge, with significant value of 0.003(p>0,05). Leaflet showed an increase of knowledge is greater when compared with the use of a pocket book. Conclusion, leafletis an effective media to increase oral knowledge of dental health. The writing of this article is intended to apply the study of hadith taken from Sahih Bukhari to the students of primary schools in Malaysia. The method of writing in this article is that the author examines the hadiths from Sahih Bukhari to be used as teaching aids to students in primary schools. The author chooses a hadith from the book of al-Iman which is about the role or responsibility of a Muslim to another Muslim by taking care of his limbs and hands and also related to the advantages of congregational prayer in the Kitab al-Solat. While in terms of teaching methods or methods are teacher and student centered, the author has used Microsoft Powerpoint software as a tool or teaching aid (BBM) for primary school students based on topics related to the hadith. The special feature of this teaching aid is that students can look at it repeatedly at home and review it to strengthen their understanding of a hadith and apply it in their lives. Pupils can also share the material with their peers from other schools. It is hoped that through the tools or teaching aids (ABM) produced can give awareness to the current generation on the actions or practices that should be displayed on social media should always be guided by true Islamic guidelines and help teachers in diversifying their teaching methods in primary schools, especially the study of hadith in the subject of Islamic Education. Abstrak Penulisan artikel ini adalah bertujuan mengaplikasikan pengajian hadith kepada murid-murid sekolah kebangsaan di Malaysia. Berlatar belakang dari usaha untuk meningkatkan daya saing dan keunggulan kompetitif dari semua sektor, menuntut manusia untuk mempunyai kemampuan yang berkualitas, baik dari sumber daya manusia (SDM), ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi agar manusia mampu bertahan dalam perkembangan zaman yang semakin canggih. Salah satu sarana yang harus dikuasai dalam menghadapi era globalisasi tersebut adalah kemampuan berkomunikasi dengan Bahasa Inggris, sehingga Bahasa Inggris sangat ditekankan penguasaannya di Indonesia. Penelitian dilakukan dengan merancang serta membangun education game multimedia pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris pada SMP Negeri 8 Pagaralam. Dalam penelitian ini, model yang diimplementasikan adalah ADDIE, dengan melalui lima tahapan, yaitu analisis, desain, penembangan, implementasi dan evaluasi. Pada SMPN 8 Pagar Alam, penelitian ini juga digunakan untuk mengembangkan dan mengevaluasi perangkat lunak multimedia pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris untuk siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama. Aplikasi Education game diharapkan dapat membantu guru memberikan materi kepada siswa dengan cara belajar sambil bermain untuk meningkatkan belajar siswa dalam pelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Aplikasi ini dibangun dengan konsep multimedia yang ini sangat efektif dan dapat digunakan sebagai alat bantu yang berisi materi dan soal latihan Bahasa Inggris untuk siswa didalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris.

This study aims to improve mastery of dexterity gymnastics through playing approaches and assistive media in physical education learning for students. This research method uses a classroom action research method with research subjects namely students of class II SD Negeri 44 Ampenan. The research instrument used observation, interviews, and tests. The data analysis technique used in this research was qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate that the play approach and assistive media can increase interest, activeness, and dexterity gymnastics for the second grade students of SD Negeri 44 Ampenan.

This essay rethinks the gender history and historiography of interwar sub-Saharan Africa by deploying the heuristic device of the ‘modern girl’ to consider how global circuits of representation and commerce informed this period of gender tumult. This device has been developed by a research group at the University of Washington to understand the global emergence during the 1920s and 1930s of female figures identified by their cosmopolitan look, their explicit eroticism and their use of specific commodities. Previous scholarship has suggested that a black modern girl imbricated in international circuits of images, ideologies and commodities only became visible in southern Africa in the post-Second World War period. Yet, analysis of the black newspaper Bantu World reveals the emergence of such a figure by the early 1930s. The modern girl heuristic helps to situate race as a key category of analysis in scholarship on women and gender in interwar Africa as contemporaries consistently debated her in racial terms. In South Africa, some social observers saw African young women’s school education, professional careers and cosmopolitan look as contributing to ‘racial uplift’. Others accused the African modern girl of ‘prostituting’ her sex and race by imitating white, coloured or Indian women, and by delaying or avoiding marriage, dressing provocatively and engaging in premarital and inter-racial sex. Cosmetics use was one of the most contentious issues surrounding the black modern girl because it drew attention to the phenotypic dimensions of racial distinctions. By analysing a beauty contest in Bantu World together with articles and letters on, and advertisements for, cosmetics, this essay demonstrates how, in white-dominated segregationist South Africa, the modern girl emerged through and posed challenges to categories of race and respectability.

In an attempt to develop new constellations of world literature, this article places the writers of South Africa’sDrumgeneration within the orbit of the American hard-boiled genre. For a brief period in the 1950 s,Drumwas home to a team of gifted writers who cut their literary teeth in the fast-paced, hard-drinking, crime-riddled streets of Sophiatown, Johannesburg’s last remaining black township. Their unique style was a blend of quick-witted Hollywood dialogue, a private detective’s street sense, and the hard-boiled aesthetic of writers like Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler. Writing in English in the era of the Bantu Education Act (1953),Drumwriters challenged attempts to retribalize the African natives with the counter discourse of an educated, urbanized, modern African. This article (dis)orients conventional treatments of bothDrumwriters and the hard-boiled tradition by tracing alternative lines of flight between seemingly disparate fields of study.

What Are the Natural Implications of Human Total Disability? Methods: This research was conducted using a qualitative method with a literature study approach. Research Results: (1). Education that shapes and develops the inner attitude of students so that they are able to behave and behave wisely, and be responsible in their daily lives as Christians (2). Character education plays an important role in the personal formation of students. In the process various noble morals are discussed, including honesty, virtue, courage, discipline, generosity, tolerance, and responsibility. (3). Pendidikan karakter yang tepat sebenarnya harus dimulai dengan perjumpaan pribadi dengan Yesus. PT. Samcon merupakan perusahaan yang memproduksi kapasitor yang kegiatan produksinya terbagi menjadi beberapa proses, dimana masing-masing proses dikerjakan oleh departemen yang berbeda.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat kerusakan, mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor penyebab kerusakan serta merekomendasikan tindakan perbaikan. Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode Statistical Quality Control (SQC) yang dilakukan dengan alat bantu statistik diantaranya: checksheet, histogram, diagram pareto, peta kendali dan fishbone diagram. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kerusakan produk terbanyak terjadi di departemen coating dan didominasi oleh tiga jenis kerusakan yaitu coating NG (59,71%), popo (11,71%) dan doriogiri (10,43%), hasil analisis peta kendali untuk jumlah total keluar sebesar 46,7%. Tindakan yang dilakukan untuk meminimalkan kerusakan yaitu dengan mengadakan training and education untuk operator, membuat cooling zone, memeriksa penyangga deji sebelum digunakan, membersihkan heater dan pully secara berkala, melakukan perawatan dan pemeriksaan bearing, menambah fasilitas pendingin ruangan, mengganti wheel, memeriksa powder sebelum digunakan, dan mengganti sensor pengisian powder dengan sistem timer.

Revolusi Industri 4.0 (RI 4.0) memunculkan paradigma baru dalam pendidikan, yaitu Education 4.0 (Pendidikan 4.0). Hal ini dampak dari kebutuhan tenaga kerja terampil di era RI 4.0. Menurut WEF dalam Future of Jobs Reports (2016) terdapat dua keterampilan baru yang dibutuhkan di era RI 4.0 yaitu Emotional Intelligence dan Cognitive Flexibility. Dalam Pendidikan 4.0 pelajar berada di pusat ekosistem pendidikandalam rangka mengasah kedua keterampilan tersebut melalui model pengajaran transdisiplin, problem based learning, research based learning serta brain based technique melalui dukungan teknologi informasi. Namun, para pendidik memiliki masalah dalam keterampilan menerapkan aplikasi kolaborasi. Melalui program Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (P3M) STIE Trisakti, pada bulan September 2019 penulis mencoba untukmemberikan pelatihan Microsoft Office 365 dan Kahoot! kepada para guru dan staf administrasi SMA/SMK di propinsi Bangka-Belitung, Jambi, Lampung dan kota Bekasi-Jawa Barat. Microsoft Office 365 yang berbasis Student Information System dan Classroom Management Software serta Kahoot! sebagai Assessment Software dan bersifat bebas berbayar setidaknya diharapkan mampu diterapkan disetiap lembaga pendidikan di Indonesia khususnya di sekolah yang mendapatkanpelatihan tersebut. The concept of AR has been expanded in innovative education that has the potential to turn ordinary classes into exciting experiences as there is a variety of software and hardware that can be acquired and used to produce AR applications. Computer System Introduction Course is a course offered at the Department of Information and Communication Technology, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Polytechnic (PSMZA), Dungun Terengganu aims to introduce students to the basic concepts of computers, hardware, and software installation. The purpose of this study was to identify the level of students' perceptions of the use of SIPC as a teaching aid and to identify the level of effectiveness of the use of SIPC as a teaching aid in the Computer System Introduction Course. A total of 36 students were involved as respondents. Questionnaire forms were used as research instruments. The quantitative analysis method is used to describe the mean score using SPSS version 26.0. The results show that the level of students' perception of the use of SIPC as a teaching aid is at the level of high mean score range of 4.51 and the level of effectiveness of the use of SIPC as a teaching aid is also at the level of high mean score range of 4.51. Overall, the results of the study found that the level of effectiveness of SIPC innovation as augmented reality teaching aid technology for the Computer System Introduction Course among PSMZA students is at a high level. This indicates that all the items studied support that SIPC as a teaching aid is very effective.

Abstract:
This study is related to the perception of Islamic Education teachers on their teaching practices in the Qur'an recitation skills due to the national primary schools under the administration of Education Ministry. A total of 120 Islamic Education teachers were involved as respondents in this study. They were randomly selected from ten districts in Selangor. Data were collected through a set of questionnaires consisting of 32 items. Descriptive statistics consisted of frequency, percentage and mean were used to report the findings. Findings showed that the average means of all four components in teaching practices were high. The component of lesson induction showed mean=4.03, the component of lesson expansion showed mean=4.18, the component of lesson closure showed mean=4.03 and the component of teaching aids showed mean=3.77. In conclusion, teachers should ensure a continuous improvement in their teaching practices especially in Quran recitation skills.Penelitian ini terkait dengan persepsi guru Pendidikan Islam tentang praktik mengajar mereka dalam keterampilan membaca Al-Qur'an karena sekolah dasar nasional di bawah administrasi Departemen Pendidikan. Sebanyak 120 guru Pendidikan Agama Islam dilibatkan sebagai responden dalam penelitian ini. Mereka dipilih secara acak dari sepuluh distrik di Selangor. Data dikumpulkan melalui seperangkat kuesioner yang terdiri dari 32 item. Statistik deskriptif terdiri dari frekuensi, persentase dan rata-rata digunakan untuk melaporkan temuan. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata rata-rata keempat komponen dalam praktik mengajar tinggi. Komponen induksi pelajaran menunjukkan rata-rata = 4.03, komponen ekspansi pelajaran menunjukkan rata-rata = 4.18, komponen penutupan pelajaran menunjukkan rata-rata = 4.03 dan komponen alat bantu mengajar menunjukkan rata-rata = 3.77. Sebagai kesimpulan, guru harus memastikan peningkatan berkelanjutan dalam praktik pengajaran mereka terutama dalam keterampilan membaca Al-Quran.
