Abstract:
An account of desire as a species of belief may owe its appeal to the details of its proposal as to precisely what sort of beliefs desires are to be identified with, and its downfall may be due to those details it does provide. For example, it may be proposed that the desire that α is in fact the belief that it ought to be that α, or is morally good or desirable that it should be the case that α. Here the appeal might be that of forging a link between the holding of a moral belief and the acknowledgment that one has a reason for acting a certain way; and the shortcoming of the suggestion is its evident implausibility: even if the ‘necessity’ direction could be established, having a desire hardly seems sufficient for the holding of any such belief. Again: it might be proposed, perhaps simply to bring some order into the realm of propositional attitudes by reducing some to others, that the belief with which we should identify a’s desire that α is a’s belief that he will or would be happy if α. This proposed identification can be seen to be incorrect by consideration of examples such as the following, due to J. Gosling. An aging and ailing parent might forego numerous pleasures in order that his children should reap the benefits of his saving and have a good start in life – perhaps by receiving an expensive education – after his impending death. Oearly he may want that they should so benefit even if he does not believe in an after-death existence in which he might come to know of, and so take pleasure in, his children’s subsequent well-being. So his wanting that they should prosper cannot consist in his believing that he will be happy if/when they do, since he has no expectation of even being in existence in that eventuality. As Gosling puts it, there is a clear difference (illustrable with far less dramatic examples than this one) between thinking that something’s coming about will bring one pleasure, on the one hand, and viewing the prospect of its coming about with pleasure, on the other.

Phillips, Christian. "Wanting, and Weighting: White Women and Descriptive Representation in the 2016 Presidential Election." Journal of Race, Ethnicity, and Politics 3, no. 1 (2018): 29–51. http://dx.doi.org/10.1017/rep.2017.39.

Abstract:
AbstractThis paper demonstrates that the relationship between wanting a descriptive representative based on gender, and giving that attitude weight in voting decisions, is weakest among White women voters. Among under-represented groups of voters, White women were uniquely positioned going into the 2016 presidential election—they had the option to choose “one of their own” in terms of race and gender. Yet, the majority did not vote for the White woman on the ballot, Hillary Rodham Clinton. This outcome is an opportunity to interrogate how descriptive representation functions in different ways across groups with distinct socio-political positions in American politics. I argue that the relationship between desiring descriptive representation, and giving it weight when deciding for whom to vote for, is different across groups. Using American National Election Survey (ANES) data, I show that this is the case in the 2016 election. Nearly two-thirds of White women who said that electing more women is important, voted for Trump. Moreover, White women's espoused belief in the necessity of electing more women had no significant effect on their ultimate vote choice. In contrast, the same desire for increased descriptive representation based on gender had large, positive, and significant effects on women of color's vote choice. This study bears on extant research considering descriptive representation's importance to voters based only on race, or gender, and on the broader literature linking group identities and voter behavior.

Abstract:
This article investigates the affective power of social media by analysing everyday encounters with parenting content among mothers. Drawing on data composed of diaries of social media use and follow-up interviews with six women, we ask how our study participants make sense of their experiences of parenting content and the affective intensities connected to it. Despite the negativity involved in reading and participating in parenting discussions, the participants find themselves wanting to maintain the very connections that irritate them, or even evoke a sense of failure, as these also yield pleasure, joy and recognition. We suggest that the ambiguities addressed in our research data speak of something broader than the specific experiences of the women in question. We argue that they point to the necessity of focusing on, and working through affective ambiguity in social media research in order to gain fuller understanding the complex appeal of platforms and exchanges.

Abstract:
Emigrants arriving in New Zealand in the 1840s who had some architectural training were rarely able to find full‐time employment in that profession. Some sought to make a living in related fields where their drafting skills could be used (as artists or surveyors); others changed completely to become farmers or real estate agents. A few sought civil service positions or moved into politics. The most persistent bided their time in other employment but moved back to architecture when conditions became more favourable.
Here we describe a number of examples of these categories. Edward Ashworth arrived in Auckland in 1842. Unable to find architectural work, he taught drawing to the Governorʹs children and also produced several paintings of early Auckland. Henry St Hill arrived in Wellington as the New Zealand Companyʹs Architect ‐ but followed a career as magistrate and sheriff. W Robertson practised as an architect in Auckland from 1847 ‐ but also advertised as a real estate agent. S Kempthorne arrived in 1842 as a church architect but did not adapt well to New Zealand conditions and fell out of favour with Bishop Selwyn. By 1864 he was Secretary of a Public Buildings Commission. Reader Gillson Wood, famous or infamous for New Zealandʹs first parliament building, the "Shedifice" in Auckland, became a well‐known politician ‐ but returned to practising as an architect several times during a long career. William Mason thought he was coming to New Zealand as Colonial Architect in 1840. Downgraded to Superintendent of Public Works, he resigned after two years. Mason then moved into auctioneering and farming for the next ten years before returning to architecture and, later, a highly successful career in Dunedin. T O'Meara of Wellington claimed to be an architect but was probably a builder. Either way his drafting ability was found to be wanting when he forged a series of government debentures and tried to pass them for payment. (This resulted in a ten‐year jail sentence, with transportation to Tasmania).
We also explore some of the social reasons for the apparent lack of work for early skilled architects, including the slow‐growing economy, immediate needs for basic shelter/food production and major differences in building material resources compared with settlersʹ countries of origin.

Abstract:
ObjectivesAspirin could be offered for colorectal cancer prevention for the UK general population. To ensure the views of the general population are considered in future guidance, we explored public perceptions of aspirin for preventive therapy.DesignWe conducted an online survey to investigate aspirin use, and awareness of aspirin for cancer prevention among the UK general population. We conducted semistructured interviews with a subsample of survey respondents to explore participants’ acceptability towards aspirin for cancer preventive therapy. We analysed the interview data using reflexive thematic analysis and mapped the themes onto the Theoretical Domains Framework, and the Necessity and Concerns Framework.SettingOnline survey and remote interviews.ParticipantsWe recruited 400 UK respondents aged 50–70 years through a market research company to the survey. We purposefully sampled, recruited and interviewed 20 survey respondents.ResultsIn the survey, 19.0% (76/400) of respondents were aware that aspirin can be used to prevent cancer. Among those who had previously taken aspirin, 1.9% (4/216) had taken it for cancer prevention. The interviews generated three themes: (1) perceived necessity of aspirin; (2) concerns about side effects; and (3) preferred information sources. Participants with a personal or family history of cancer were more likely to perceive aspirin as necessary for cancer prevention. Concerns about taking aspirin at higher doses and its side effects, such as gastrointestinal bleeding, were common. Many described wanting guidance and advice on aspirin to be communicated from sources perceived as trustworthy, such as healthcare professionals.ConclusionsAmong the general population, those with a personal or family history of cancer may be more receptive towards taking aspirin for preventive therapy. Future policies and campaigns recommending aspirin may be of particular interest to these groups. Multiple considerations about the benefits and risks of aspirin highlight the need to support informed decisions on the medication.

Abstract:
Objectives This study aims to make a proposal for the development of the all-day care system by identifying the
perception and demand of all-day care services in G city.
Methods In order to confirm the recognition and demand for all-day care, a second analysis was conducted on
the government-wide all day care demand survey data. For data analysis, descriptive statistical analysis was conducted
using the SPSS 27.0 program.
Results As a result of the awareness of all-day care services, only 16% said they knew all about it, and the lower
the grade, the higher the desire for all-day care services. The reasons for not wanting to use all-day care services
were in the order of wanting private education, wanting home care, and dissatisfaction with the service. Elementary
care classes were the most common types of all-day care services used. About 84% of the respondents were
satisfied with the all-day care service. It was found that they wanted care provided in the school. It was found that
the most necessary time for all-day care services was from the end of school classes to 5 p.m.
Conclusions Based on the results of this study, the need for a more accurate demand survey for all-day care services,
expansion of the supply of all-day care services, strengthening publicity and guidance, and ensuring a quality
level were proposed.

- The Author analyses the paradox of our times that can be stated simply: the collective issues we must grapple with are of growing extensity and intensity and, yet, the means for addressing them are weak and incomplete. So the paper tries to speak on a necessity of a reframing a global governance in an increasingly interconnected world, where global problems cannot be solved by any one nation-state acting alone. They call for collective and collaborative action - something that the nations of the world have not been good at, and which they need to be better at if these pressing issues are to be adequately tackled. Yet, the evidence is wanting that we are getting better at building appropriate governance capacity. But to improve the situation we first should emancipate from the parameters of Washington Consensus on both economic and security fields because they obstruct off the development of global institution under principles of solidarity, cosmopolitic democracy, social justice and policy effectiveness. Abstract:
Background/Context Much science education reform has been directed at middle and high school students; however, earlier experiences in elementary school may well have an important impact on young people's future science literacy and preparation for possible STEM careers. Purpose/Objective This study explores the relationships among fifth-graders’ perceived learning opportunities in school science, their perceptions of self in science, and their desire to take more science courses in middle and high school. Research Design To directly address concerns about the reproducibility of results of small educational studies, this study explores whether results from one sample are replicated in a second, different sample. The fifth-grade students from two different samples of public elementary students in California (Sample 1: n = 363; Sample 2: n = 327) completed surveys about students’ perceived school science experiences, sense of themselves as science learners, and aspirations to learn more science in the future. The analyses of both samples included regression analyses to explore the relationship between science self-perceptions and wanting to take future science classes, as well as whether students’ perceived opportunities to participate in science activities might influence the relationship between self-perceptions and wanting to take more science in the future. Findings/Results There were positive and significant relationships between both school science learning opportunities and wanting to take more science courses, and science self-perceptions and wanting to take more science courses. Analyses indicate that both factors need to be considered when predicting who is eager to learn more science. These findings were consistent across both samples and were robust even after including student-level and school-level and controlling for the nested structure of the data. Conclusions/Recommendations Findings highlight the importance of fifth-graders’ self-perceptions in understanding the effects of science learning opportunities on their desire to learn more science. Thus, school science opportunities may be necessary but not sufficient for increasing student interest in learning more science. Since teachers have influence on both learning activities and a student's sense of self as a science learner, the results underscore the importance of preparing elementary teachers to foster student desire to learn more science in the future.

Background: Social problems that often arise in preschool-aged children are excessive fearful behavior such as fear of separation, fear of new people and withdrawn behavior described by children as not wanting to socialize, being alone, not wanting to play with other children, being busy with their own toys. This behavior can be caused by environmental factors that do not encourage and stimulate children to socialize, so that this behavior is not experienced by children, it is necessary for parents and the environment to consider and give more love and attention to children, to spend time with children, to be good listeners. , involve themselves in children's activities, maintain attitudes towards children (Ashary, Rahamma & Fatimah, 2015). Social problems in children such as maladjustment, namely self-adjustment to a new environment also often occur and children who feel satisfied with their behavior but the social environment cannot accept it, for example children who have bossy behavior, are arrogant, the child feels that he is not wrong but the environment around him feels disturbed with this behavior (Tirtayani, Asril & Wirya, 2014).

This research is included in the type of qualitative research with the method used is the method of writing a literature study. This paper is derived from various literature related to the problem to be studied. The references taken are books that discuss the problem, articles or scientific journals, etc. which are obtained from soft files and hard files of books and also through information technology or the internet. It is known that in looking at the public's interest in investing in the capital market, two factors are obtained, namely the inhibiting factor and the driving factor. Supporting factors for public investment interest include advancing the Islamic capital market, namely: curiosity, for future savings, wanting to make a profit (benefit), not knowing, wanting to be a successful entrepreneur, wanting to be rich, wanting to invest, wanting to own shares. , as it promises, and Warren Smorgasbord). While the inhibiting factors include modular (money), losses, lack of knowledge (how and where), doubts about sharia. Based on these findings, it is necessary to have a strategy to optimize the role of socialization and education so that it is more widespread and equitable.

Purpose This paper aims to advocate the development and re-emphasis of “epistemic virtue” in relevant professional ethical codes so that attention is re-focussed on the responsibility of relevant professionals to close windows of opportunity for financial wrongdoing and money laundering that are left open through the widespread practice of “wilful blindness”. Design/methodology/approach This study is an exploration of the duty to know or find out in the accountancy profession via discussion and illustration of how failures in this field contributed to the financial crash; a relation of these failures to “seek the truth” to the concept of “epistemic virtue”; and a discussion of how a lack of epistemic virtue is a necessary condition for the successful practice of money laundering. Findings This paper considers the case for establishing a new framework for recalibrating the professional ethic model so that the primacy of outward looking attitudes to knowledge is re-established at the heart of professional ethics. Research limitations/implications The paper advocates the adoption of specific training on outward looking epistemic values in all financially related professional bodies. Practical implications Review of ethical standards in the professions is required to ensure epistemic virtues are given due weight and prominence within them. Social implications The accumulation of criminal capital under legitimate guises by serious organised crime requires poses an ongoing threat to the integrity of economic markets. A key step to improving defences against this threat is the elevation of epistemic virtue in the professions. Originality/value To raise awareness and prominence of epistemic virtue as a necessary component of professional integrity.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore how entrepreneur-mothers experience independence in the transition to entrepreneurship, and whether they perceive independence as an agentic, opportunity-maximisation motive or a constrained, necessity-driven response. Design/methodology/approach Adopting a qualitative and interpretive approach, the authors analysed interviews with 60 entrepreneur-mothers to refine conceptual understanding of independence. Findings The authors find that entrepreneur-mothers experience independence not as an opportunity, but as a functional necessity in managing the temporal and perceived moral demands of motherhood. The authors assert that there is a fundamental difference between wanting independence to pursue a more autonomous lifestyle, and needing independence to attend to family obligations, a difference that is not adequately captured in the existing conceptualisation of independence. Consequently, the authors propose the classification of “family-driven entrepreneurship” to capture the social and institutional factors that may disproportionately push women with caregiving responsibilities towards self-employment. Practical implications This paper proposes that a new category of entrepreneurial motivation be recognised to better account for the social and institutional factors affecting women’s entrepreneurship, enabling policymakers to more accurately position and support entrepreneur-mothers. Social implications The authors challenge the existing framing of independence as an agentic opportunity-seeking motive, and seek to incorporate family dynamics into existing entrepreneurial models. Originality/value This paper delivers much-needed conceptual refinement of independence as a motivator to entrepreneurship by examining the experiences of entrepreneur-mothers, and proposes a new motivational classification, that of family-driven entrepreneurship to capture the elements of agency and constraint embedded in this transition.

Abstract:
The purpose of the study was to investigate the buying process, supplier selection criteria and information of craft retailers in South Africa (SA). The information collected about the buying process, supplier selection criteria and information sources used were to propose a marketing strategy for craft producers wanting to target retailers. Craft retailers play a dominant role in the craft industry value chain yet craft producers face difficulties selling to this market. Instead, they resort to selling directly to end consumers and not through craft retailers. An understanding of the retailer’s buying process, supplier selection criteria and information sources is a necessity for craft producers who want to sell their products successfully through the craft retailers. A survey was conducted among 233 craft retailers in SA. A convenience sampling method was adopted for the study. The findings revealed that craft retailers go through homogenous buying stages. Craft retailers go through a lengthy process when buying crafts. The most important supplier selection criteria are product quality, product is exciting and attractive, product styling and design and product distinctiveness/uniqueness. The information sources most often used are existing sales records, buyer’s experience and sales persons visiting with samples.

Abstract:
The Scottish National Players were the most interesting and important group in Scottish theatre in the 1920s, and the ‘national drama’ which they produced defined Scottish theatre for almost two decades. The SNP, as they were known, became the focus for the aspirations of young people wanting to progress to a professional career within theatre and were responsible for training a whole generation of Scottish actors. Later theatre groups, such as the Curtain and the Gateway, were greatly influenced by the Scottish National Players, who also made a major contribution to the early years of broadcasting in Scotland. Though mainly an amateur group, the SNP recognized the necessity for a national theatre company to tour as widely as possible, and in doing so helped to fire the enthusiasm for amateur drama which swept Scotland in the thirties. Many of the problems and debates which confronted them in their attempt to provide Scotland with a national theatre, such as the vexed question of whether production should be restricted to Scottish plays, irrespective of quality in the hope of better things to come, are still relevant issues.

Abstract:
SummaryIt is anticipated that the demand for contraceptives in Iran will increase in the near future as the number of women of reproductive age increases and with women wanting smaller families. The aim of this paper was to study the demand for long-acting and permanent contraceptive methods (LAPCMs), and its determinants, among Kurdish women in Mahabad city, Iran. Data were taken from the Mahabad Fertility Survey (MFS) conducted on a sample of over 700 households in April 2012. The results show that the demand for LAPCMs was 71.35% at the time of survey, although only 27.7% of women were using these methods. Thus, the number of unintended pregnancies is likely to increase in the future if this gap is not reduced. The multivariate analysis showed significant impacts on the dependent variables of the number of children ever born, perceived contraceptive costs and childbearing intentions. Moreover, women at the end of their reproductive lives and those with higher education were more likely to desire LAPCMs. It is concluded that despite a growing use of contraceptive methods in Iran in recent decades, the development of reproductive health services and promotion of the quality of family planning services remains a necessity.

I found it difficult to participate in the discussion of the problem until now because instead of wanting to consider what could be done to revive the project of identifying necessary and conditions for knowledge after the apparent damage done to it by Gettier counter-examples, I wanted to question the legitimacy of the project itself.

Non language-using animals cannot have beliefs, because believing entails the ability to distinguish true from false beliefs and also the ability to distinguish changes in belief from changes in the world. For these abilities we need both the fixation of belief and counter-factual thought, for both of which language is necessary. The argument of the paper extends Davidson's argument to the same conclusion (which is found wanting). But denying beliefs to animals has no moral implications.

Abstract:
Purpose Publishing in scholarly journals is a practical necessity for academics. Put simply, this reality can be described as “publish or perish”. To be treated as a serious contender for tenure and promotion, scholarly research and activities directed towards publication are necessary aspects of faculty life. The purpose of this paper is to provide insights into “dealing” with the editorial review process of publishing from the perspective of a relatively new author. Design/methodology/approach Using the lens of Q and R theory, a case study approach combined with critical reflection provides a documented tour to enable other authors to enhance their understanding of the publication process through including references to associated reviews and correspondence with a journal editor. The review extracts from the editor and authors’ responses are discussed within the context of a theoretical schema and timeline. Findings Drawing from the theoretical schema, the paper identifies 11 lessons learned along the way to publishing, and these are summarised as the 11 commandments of publishing. Research limitations/implications Utilisation of the Q and R theory can assist researchers as they reflect on how to maximise their publication outcomes. Practical implications The 11 commandments provide a practical approach for those wanting to improve their understanding and likelihood of publishing success. Originality/value The originality of this paper is that it considers the publication process from a novice author who subsequently draws on the knowledge of more experienced co-authors. The findings are based on a theoretical schema that is transferable and able to be adopted by others to guide publication outcomes.

Abstract:
It is a commonplace of academic conventional wisdom that Marxian theory is not to be judged by the historical experience of actually existing socialist societies. The reasons given in support of this view are familiar enough, but let us rehearse them. Born in adversity, encircled by hostile powers, burdened with the necessity of defending themselves against foreign enemies and with the massive task of educating backward and reactionary populations, the revolutionary socialist governments of this century were each of them denied any real opportunity to implement Marxian socialism in its authentic form. Nowhere has socialism come to power as Marx expected it would – on the back of the organized proletariat of an advanced capitalist society. For this reason, the historical experience of the past sixty years can have no final authority in the assessment of Marxian theory. The failings of Marxist regimes – their domination by bureaucratic elites, their economic crises, their repression of popular movements and of intellectual freedoms, and their dependency on imports of Western technology and capital – are all to be explained as historical contingencies which in no way threaten the validity of Marx's central conceptions. It is not that Marxian socialism has been tried and found wanting but, rather, that it has never been tried.

The writing of this article is motivated by the author's direct experience as the leader of the community service team at Padang State University, in various locations and places of service, including in the Sungai Buluh Timur community. The problems that have arisen so far are the low motivation of the community to participate in learning, especially regarding learning materials related to theory. This is seen from the arrival of those who are often late, lacking focus in learning, wanting to go home quickly. The author suspects, this happens because the community still does not feel that learning is carried out as a necessity. The purpose of this paper is in order to describe the nature of the needs and learning needs of adults, how adults learn, and also stated things that need to be done so that learning in society can be realized as a need. It is hoped that this paper can be used as input for practitioners engaged in community development, have awareness and insight in conducting learning activities so that the community is able to see their learning needs and at the same time be able to help the community to get out of the life problems they face. Keywords: Learning Motivations, Learning Needs

The push toward automated content moderation is often justified as a necessary response to the scale: the enormity of social media platforms like Facebook and YouTube stands as the reason why AI approaches are desirable, even inevitable. But even if we could effectively automate content moderation, it is not clear that we should.

AbstractThe US astronomy/astrophysics community comes together to create a decadal report that summarizes grant funding priorities, observatory & instrumental priorities as well as community accomplishments and community goals such as increasing the number of women and the number of people from underrepresented groups. In the 2010 US National Academies Decadal Survey of Astronomy (NRC10), it was suggested that having to move so frequently which is a career necessity may be unattractive to people wanting to start a family, especially impacting women. Whether in Europe or elsewhere, as postdocs, astrophysicists will relocate every two to three years, until they secure a permanent position or leave research altogether. Astrophysicists do perceive working abroad as important and positive for their careers (Parenti02); however, it was found that the men at equal rank had not had to spend as much time abroad to further their careers (Fohl12). By implication, women need to work abroad longer or have more positions abroad to achieve the same rank as men. Astrophysicists living in the United Kingdom prefer to work in their country of origin, but many did not do so because of worse working conditions or difficultly finding a job for their spouse (Fohl14). In sum, mobility and moving is necessary for a career in astrophysics, and even more necessary for women, but astrophysicists prefer not to move as frequently as needed to maintain a research career. To gather more data on these issues and to broaden the discourse beyond male/female to include the gender diverse as well as to include other forms of diversity, the ASTROMOVES project was created which is funded through a Marie Curie Individual Fellowship. Though slowed down by COVID-19, several interviews have been conducted and some preliminary results will be presented.

Abstract: The technological breakthroughs and innovations that are taking on across the world today are endless. Things are getting indisputably simple in all imaginable ways. Technologies simplify people’s lives, as they perfectly fill the void and propel people towards a solution. Nowadays, people tend to endorse the technical advancements that ease their life. Anything that bridges the gap between people's issues and solutions gets highly upvoted. But these technological advancements bring the necessity of extreme technical abilities that might be a hindrance for a few people to get a hand on them. In today's modern era, web applications have an extraordinary impact on people's lives. They play a significant role in individuals' lives, as well as in enterprises. However, developing one is tiresome. A few open-source softwares exist that expedite the web application generation process. "JHipster" is one such software that assists people in generating a web application. However, working with JHipster is a bit challenging as people need insights into the technical aspects. To address this issue, we propose a solution, "Kore". Kore is a creative approach to minimising a person's effort to generate a web application. This paper discusses the implementation of Kore and its role in solving the above-discussed issues. Kore can demolish the impediments and assists people wanting to generate a web application effortlessly and lets them experience the impact of these technological advancements

Abstract:
Little research has been done in the area of eating disordered behavior exhibited in recreation facilities on college campuses, however several studies have examined exercise behavior and reasoning. The literature states that for young women, the college subculture seems to be a breeding ground for eating disorders. A logical thesis therefore would be to presume that a recreation facility on a college campus would be a place for primary and secondary prevention of eating disorders. At one midwestern state college, students in academic and non-credit classes offered through the campus recreation department were surveyed using the EAT 26. Nearly 12% of those surveyed indicated symptoms of anorexia nervosa; and another 24% were labeled “at risk.” Four distinct groups emerged. The groups were identified as those at low weight with a desire to lose more weight; those wanting to bulk up; those who were medically obese with a desire to lose weight; and those of normal weight wanting to lose weight. Chronological steps can be taken to aid in the primary and secondary prevention of eating disorders. These steps include: identifying the problem; educating all staff; working with other campus entities in the prevention and intervention process; developing a policy; presenting the policy to affected departments and if necessary obtaining legal approval. It is also important to identify specifically how intervention will take place if it becomes necessary. Legal considerations need to be given attention. Eating disorders are multi-faceted and multidimensional It is important to have qualified professional staff able and willing to work in the prevention and early intervention of eating disordered behavior.

Therefore, this article subjects these ecclesiological variations to critique and finds them wanting. It offers four theological principles by which to analyze the nature of the church and determines that multi–site and multi–service churches fail to meet the necessary requirements for what is required of a numerically identical Protestant church. Therefore, it is metaphysically impossible for multi–site and multi–service churches to exist as the numerically same church. Each multi–site or multi–service entity is its own numerically distinct local church.

Implementation of guidance and counseling is very necessary in elementary schools, because in practice not a few students who take part in the teaching and learning process face problems that come from themselves and the surrounding environment. Among the problems students often encounter in the field, include playing alone when the teacher is explaining lessons, not wanting to do homework, fighting with friends, getting angry at friends who make mistakes, not attending school, talking dirty and cheating on exams. Schools as educational institutions are responsible for fostering student character, therefore the role of guidance and counseling in elementary schools and madrasah ibtidaiah is very important for the continuity of educational activities in the present and in the future.

The politics of memory: Vestiges of traumaThe politics of memory is fraught with paradoxes; however, it remains an unavoidable and necessary strategy to cope with (historical) trauma. After a brief concept of historical memory has been outlined, an analysis follows of the various strategies of memory that have been employed to deal with the trauma of the British concentration camps during the Anglo-Boer War of 1899-1902. The point of the analysis centres in the moral universalisability of the politics of traumatic experience. The initial male strategy of memory (heroization) is found wanting. Emily Hobhouse’s observations and interpretation of suffering are important criticisms of this initial strategy. In the final instance, it is the interpreted voice of the victim herself that makes trauma audible - by approximation.

Without ever becoming central, the refutation of scepticism constitutes one of the pervading themes of Whitehead's philosophy of perception. His way of resisting scepticism about the external world was the doctrine of the two pure modes of perception, presentational immediacy and causal efficacy, and of the mixt mode of symbolic reference. In the present study, I try to evaluate Whitehead's theory of perception as a rampart against scepticism. First, I expose, in relevant outline, Whitehead’s theory of perception as it first appears in S, with the necessary refinements adduced in PR, and I find it wanting. Next, I show that Whitehead’s doctrine of subjective forms works as a patch for the theory, and allows it to counter some varieties of scepticism.

Abstract:
This Special Issue, devoted to micro-credentials and qualifications for future work and learning in a disrupted world, is a welcome and critically timed contribution to educational theorising and practice internationally. COVID-19 has accelerated Industry 4.0’s pervasive labour market disruption. Digitisation’s efficiencies have been rapidly embraced and broadly up-scaled as a matter of necessity. Many industries and professions have fast tracked digitalisation to transform pre-pandemic business models for current and future sustainability. We have seen all education sectors – Kindergarten to Year 12 (K-12), vocational education and training/ further education (VET/FE) and higher education (HE) – digitise and digitalise to varying degrees in their rapid move to emergency remote teaching (Hodges et al., 2020). Robust evaluation will be needed to assess the efficacy of that pedagogical triaging – our well-intentioned ‘panic-gogy’ (Kamenetz, 2020) – to inform the quality and fitness-for-future-purpose of that online pivot. In the meantime, HE’s students and graduates emerge from 2020 wanting to support and apply their studies in a challenging job market that was already weakening pre-pandemic and has now worsened (for example in the Australian context, Social Research Centre, 2020), especially for young people. If that was not enough, significant and underlying issues of climate change, reconciliation with First Nations, demographic change and globalisation continue to have implications for equal and equitable participation in the full range of life opportunities, including in meaningful paid work. In brief, the context for this Special Issue is an international grand challenge writ very large.

Abstract:
This paper reports upon the results of a small-scale qualitative investigation looking at the perceptions of students and lecturers regarding students’ motivations to become teachers. The samples for the study were a group of final-year undergraduates on a non-QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) degree in Education Studies at a post-1992 university in the South-East Wales area and their lecturing staff, plus careers advisor. The aim of the study was to compare the perceptions of the two research samples with regard to students’ motivations for wanting to become teachers. A particular focus of the study was to consider the relationship between students’ social class and the extent to which (if at all) they cited extrinsic factors such as job security or pay as sources of motivation to enter teaching. The research revealed some degree of disjunction between the accounts given by the students and the members of staff. Focus group interviews with student samples indicated that although they initially highlighted intrinsic motivations for wanting to be teachers, when questioned about extrinsic factors, job security emerged as an important source of motivation. In contrast, individual interviews with staff members revealed more mixed responses, with a tendency to cite holidays as an important motivating factor in the students’ aim to become teachers. The comments of some staff members also revealed an unwitting tendency to position students within a cultural deficit discourse based upon perceptions of students’ limited career decision-making. It is concluded that it will be increasingly necessary for higher education teaching staff to have some awareness of the social context within which their students undertake career decision-making in view of a policy context in which universities are to become increasingly accountable for the employment outcomes of their graduates.

Recent advances in sensor and communications technology have enabled scalable methods for providing continuity of care to the home for patients with chronic conditions and older adults wanting to age in place. In this article we describe our framework for a health coaching platform with a dynamic user model that enables tailored health coaching messages. We have shown that this can improve coach efficiency without a loss of message quality. We also discovered many lessons for coaching technology, most demonstrating the need for more coach input on sample message content, perhaps even requiring that individual coaches be able to modify the message database directly. Overall, coaches felt that the structure of the automated message generation was useful in remembering what to say, easy to edit if necessary and especially helpful for training new health coaches.

Abstract:
Abstract School-home communication may be especially critical for families of children with autism given their tenuous partnerships with school professionals. In this study, we explored the child, caregiver, and family-professional partnership correlates of school-home communication. Data were collected from 179 caregivers of children with autism (age 3-21) via a national survey. Participants overwhelmingly reported having less than monthly communication with educators (i.e., general and special education teachers) despite wanting at least weekly communication. A preference for email communication negatively correlated with participants who were Black and/or from lower-income households, but this should be met with caution due to limited sample diversity. These findings indicate that it is necessary to attain a nuanced understanding of school-home communication and identify other potential correlates.

The preferences and beliefs of these patients must be considered, along with ethical and legal implications surrounding the medical decisions during PPH. This article examines the implications, ethically and legally, of patients who are awake and able to participate in conversations about blood transfusions and change their minds about wanting to proceed, arguing that it is ethically necessary in specific circumstances for a physician to reassess a patient’s wishes mid-crisis and follow through with those decisions.

Living in Indonesia, in a pluralistic society, harmony between religious believers is absolutely necessary. It would be very dangerous if the child grows and develops by bringing selfish qualities, closing oneself, feeling the most righteous, and wanting to win alone. Such conditions will cause difficulties for children to make adjustments properly when he was a teenager and adult. There are four most important conditions, namely: (1) if poor social behaviour patterns are developed at home, (2) if the home does not provide a model of behaviour to imitate, (3) lack of motivation to learn, (4) children do not get guidance and sufficient assistance in the learning process. Abstract:
Abstract The work analysed the entrepreneurial skills of tourism students to improve their self-employment opportunities and contribute to the sustainable recovery of the sector. The approach was qualitative, and the data collection was the focus group. The sample consisted of 48 tourism students about to graduate from a Mexican public university. The analysis of information was according to five competencies: a) knowing, b) knowing how to do, c) knowing how to be, d) wanting to do, and: e) doing. They are being able to do. The results show that the family and educational institutions play an essential role in the comprehensive training of the students; they provide the motivation and training necessary to possess the skills that allow for managing and reducing social and environmental problems. The entrepreneurial spirit among students is closely related to acquiring abilities before, during, and after their time at the university.

Abstract:
Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) attracted the attention of the health community for the first time in 1981 after the discovery of cases such as Pneumocystis Carinii Pneumonia and Kaposi's Sarcoma. After going through the research process it turns out that HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is the virus that causes these cases. HIV is a group of Retroviruses that attack the human immune system, while the collection of certain clinical conditions that are the end result of HIV infection is called AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) (S.A. Price, 2006). According to (BKKBN, 2010), approximately 50% of people with AIDS in Indonesia are adolescent age groups. During adolescence often arises a sense of wanting to try this is important for adolescent reproductive health. Behavior of wanting to try new things if encouraged by sexual stimulation can bring adolescents into premarital sex with one of the consequences of transmission of venereal diseases including HIV / AIDS (Kumalasari, I, Andhyantoro, 2012). The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence adolescent knowledge in preventing HIV and AIDS in SMA N 7 Pekanbaru City. This research is an analytic research with Cross Sectional approach where the independent variables are Age, Attitude, Source of Information while the dependent variable is Youth Knowledge. The sampling technique was stratified with 83 respondents. The results of the study were calculated using the Chi Square statistical test results with a value of α 5% obtained results Age (p value 0.017 and OR 3.4), Attitude (p value 0.003 and OR 4.3), Information Sources (p values 0, 003 and OR 3.9) . Then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted where there is a relationship between Age, Attitude, source of information with Youth Knowledge in HIV AIDS prevention. It is necessary to increase health promotion by involving cross-sectors to the community, especially school adolescents by providing counseling about HIV AIDS, including prevention of sexually transmitted diseases in order to reduce the transmission of HIV AIDS

Abstract:
54 Background: With improvements in pediatric cancer treatment, the number of childhood cancer survivors is growing rapidly. Survivorship care plans (SCPs) can provide survivors with necessary information and resources to engage in risk-based follow-up care. Online patient motivated SCPs are promising for adult survivors of childhood cancer with multiple care transitions and the need for self-management outside clinical encounters. Methods: An existing online SCP generator (OncoLife) was adapted to create Smart Adult Living After Childhood Cancer plans for survivors of pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma (ALL) and Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (HL) by incorporating Children’s Oncology Group Long Term Follow-Up Guidelines into existing information technology logic. Results: Adult survivors (n = 20) of pediatric ALL or HL, registered to be seen in radiation oncology or survivorship clinic at the University of Pennsylvania, created an online SCP and completed an online survey. Approximately 80% of patients contacted consented and completed SCP indicating high acceptability; two-thirds (66%) completed the survey. Participants were a median of 35.5 years of age and of 26.5 years since diagnosis. They were 50% female, majority Caucasian (90%), 70% ALL and 30% HL survivors. SCPs took an average of 9 minutes 46 seconds to complete. The majority (95%) of respondents found the SCP generator easy to use, would recommend it to others (85%), and were satisfied with the amount of information received (80%). Ninety percent stated they intended to discuss their SCP with a healthcare provider. Only a third (35%) of survivors stated they had previously received a formal SCP. Seventy percent (70%) stated a written or online plan was the best way to convey health information between visits. Preferences for use of online SCP included: 70% wanting a treatment summary to complete their SCP and 50% wanting personal information to be saved for later use. Conclusions: Online patient-motivated SCPs are a feasible and acceptable way to deliver information to adult survivors of pediatric cancer about long term health risks. Further research into optimal methods for creation, use and health benefits of SCPs is warranted.

Abstract:
For serious thinking of international political and scientific circles, we consider, that any helpless ill person is the most wanting and inadequate from people, therefore such needy human is not able to pay the necessary money for treatment from own pocket or to obtain a basic donation if He does not have the necessary money. Naturally, everyone will agree with me that the entire progressive society of humanity is developing in the direction of humanism and with the corresponding ideology, and let's think very seriously about how humane this is when a seriously sick person is asked to pay money. Therefore, we call on progressive international political and scientific circles to try to improve health management as much as possible. By observing the mean-square deviation and variation of the expected random economic parameters, using the “fish-bone” multi-factor analysis, perspective prognostic extrapolation and Delphi methods, we came to the conclusion that in the near future of georgian healthcare, 2% of the population's taxable income will be completely sufficient to provide the population with free qualitative primary emergency care.

Abstract:
Biomedical image processing has experienced dramatic expansion, and has been an interdisciplinary research field attracting expertise from applied mathematics, computer sciences, engineering, statistics, physics, biology and medicine. Computer-aided diagnostic processing has already become an important part of clinical routine. Accompanied by a rush of new development of high technology and use of various imaging modalities, more challenges arise; for example, how to process and analyze a significant volume of images so that high quality information can be produced for disease diagnoses and treatment. The principal objectives of this course are to provide an introduction to basic concepts and techniques for medical image processing and to promote interests for further study and research in medical imaging processing. The rapid progress of medical science and the invention of various medicines have benefited mankind and the whole civilization. Modern science also has been doing wonders in the surgical field. But, the proper and correct diagnosis of diseases is the primary necessity before the treatment. The more sophisticate the bio-instruments are, better diagnosis will be possible. The medical image plays an important role in clinical diagnosis and therapy of doctor and teaching and researching etc. Medical imaging is often thought of as a way to represent anatomical structures of the body with the help of X-ray computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. But often it is more useful for physiologic function rather than anatomy. With the growth of computer and image technology medical imaging has greatly influenced medical field. As the quality of medical imaging affects diagnosis the medical image processing has become a hotspot and the clinical applications wanting to store and retrieve images for future purpose needs some convenient process to store those images in details.
