Interlaced scanning has been widely used as a trade-off solution between picture quality and transmission bandwidth since the invention of television. During the past decades, various interlaced-to-progressive conversion algorithms have been proposed to improve subjective quality or coding efficiency. However, almost all the researchers concentrate on general cases, without making full use of specific application scenarios. Based on extensive investigations, eliminating visual artifacts in areas of subtitles and station captions for interlaced sports and news videos is still an unsolved proble

Limbs extend to suggest more motion literally when a dancer is in air and refer to a canonical pose when on the ground. A running pony’s curled limbs off the ground depict fast action literally. A horse’s flying-gallop off the ground suggests speedy motion metaphorically. Cast shadows indicate the actor’s location with respect to the ground. Abstract:
During World War II, when the Office of War Information urged the American film companies to help the nation win the war, the OWI's Bureau of Motion Pictures delivered both moral support and guidance. The BMP “Manual” (1942), for instance, encouraged producers to show women dropping off their children at day-care centers, then cheerfully heading off to jobs where they enjoyed equal opportunity and equal pay. Scenes like those may have been fantasy, and for some women wryly amusing, and yet, in the late 1940s and beyond, as one historian says, World War II came to be thought of as “the best war

Abstract:
This work reviews the advances in the development of CECO, a wave energy converter (WEC) of the floating oscillating bodies subgroup that has its motions and power take-off system (PTO) restricted to an inclined direction. For this purpose, the review is conducted on the basis of the Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs), the most frequently used metric to assess the maturity of a technology. The main conclusions and milestones of each stage are also presented along with an introduction to the ongoing works and a general picture of future research lines.

With the development of science and technology, the introduction of virtual reality technology has pushed the development of human-computer interaction technology to a new height. The combination of virtual reality and human-computer interaction technology has been applied more and more in military simulation, medical rehabilitation, game creation, and other fields. Action is the basis of human behavior. Among them, human behavior and action analysis is an important research direction. In human behavior and action, recognition research based on behavior and action has the characteristics of co

Abstract:
This work provides us an efficient way of developing a motion controlled interaction with a computer or laptop without touching it. This is achieved by capturing motion using an external source and processing it to perform the action needed. This work can help a lot of people to save time as they don’t need to come over to perform the task and it can also help people who are physically challenged to use the computer as it is all about making hand moments and interacting with the computer. Our work is based on continuous hand picture acknowledgement framework.
