Abstract:

Abstract These tests were conducted to compare control of tarnish plant bug (TPB) and cotton fleahopper (CF) of insecticides, an IGR, and exotoxin to a Vydate standard. 'Paymaster 145' was planted on 7 May and standard cultural practices were followed. Plots were 8 rows wide by 40 feet long in a randomized complete block with 4 replications. The sprays were applied 26 Jun with conventional and ULV ground equipment. The plots were sampled 1 and 6 days after application with a D-Vac of 50 row ft. Numbers of phytophagus and beneficial insects were counted and recorded as shown in tables.

Abstract:
Abstract 'Paymaster 145' was planted on 7 May and grown by standard methods. The test area was a randomized complete block with 8 row plots 40 ft long. The test insecticides were applied in 5 gal/acre with a Hi-Boy sprayer. Plots were infested on 10 Jul with a Yazoo City, Mississippi strain of two-spotted spider mite known to be resistant to chlorinated hydrocarbon, organophosphate, and carbamate miticides. All plots except Capture 0.05 lb (AI)/acre plots were over-sprayed with 0.05 lb (AI)/acre Ammo to induce mite build-up. Twenty-five leaves on the 6th node from the terminal were examined for mite infestation on 1 Aug, and 25 leaves on the third node from the terminal on 6 and 15 Aug.

Abstract:
In a previous article in History in Africa the rules and regulations of the Mombasa Club, dating from 1903 or earlier, were laid out (Frankl 2001). Since that article was written, the original Mombasa Club Rules, a booklet of sixteen pages printed in Mombasa and dated 1899, has come to light in the Public Record Office at Kew. One of the three signatories to that document was Rex Boustead, Proprietor. Edward Rodwell (1988:20) asked “Who was Rex Boustead?” This paper attempts to answer that question.Altogether there were six Boustead children, of whom Rex was the last born. The Bousteads, originally from Cumrenton in Cumberland, were connected with Ceylon from the early nineteenth century. Rex's paternal grandfather, John Boustead St., was paymaster of the Ceylon Rifles Regiment for more than half a century. Rex's father, John Boustead Jr. (1822-1904)—his occupation is given as “Army Agent” in Rex's birth certificate—was an only son, the second of five children. He married Augusta Phoebe Twentyman (1824-1911) at St Mary's Walthamstow in 1853; between 1854 and 1863 she gave birth to six children. John Boustead Jr. had several estates in Ceylon, and it is clear from his will that he was a moderately wealthy man, for he left £6662, a not inconsiderable sum in 1904.All the children of John Boustead junior were born in England, all married, and all died in England. Of the boys, all except Rex went to Harrow School. John Melvill (known as “Jack”), the oldest brother (who had east African connections), was born on 31 March 1854, at Walthamstow.

Abstract:
Abstract The cotton cultivar ‘Paymaster 145’ was planted 24 May at the South Central Research Station at Chickasha, Okla. Planting rate was 20 lb/acre. Eight-row plots, 150 ft long, were arranged in a randomized complete block design with 3 replicates. Spray applications were made with a John Deere Hi-Cycle 6000 sprayer traveling at 4.5 mph. Insecticide applications consisted of 5.0 gal/acre at 40 psi with 1 no. 8 (Spraying Systems) nozzle/row. Applications were made 1, 8, 15, and 22 Aug. Plots were irrigated 21 Jul, 2 Aug, and 25 Aug, and rainfall occurred during the test as follows: 4 Aug, 0.77 inches; 9 Aug, 0.85 inches; 10 Aug, 0.12 inches; 19 Aug, 0.76 inches; 20 Aug, 0.17 inches; and 28 Aug, 0.12 inches for a total of 2.79 inches. Damage was estimated prior to spraying by collecting at random 100 fruits from the upper one-third of plants in each plot.

Abstract The cotton cultivar Paymaster 145’ was planted on 22 Jun at the Southcentral Research Station in Chickasha, OK at a rate of 20 lb/acre. A randomized complete block design was used with plots consisting of 8 rows (40 inch spacing) 150 ft long. Twelve chemical treatments including insecticides, insecticidal combinations and insecticide surfactant mixtures were evaluated for control of Heliothis spp. larvae. Spray applications were made with a John Deere Hi-Cycle 6000 traveling at 4.5 MPH and calibrated to deliver 5 gal total mixture/acre with one no. 8 (spraying systems) cone tip nozzle/row. Applications were made on 24 and 31 Aug and 8 Sep. Irrigation was not applied during this study due to frequent rains which occurred as follows: 30 Aug, 0.10 inch; 2 Sep, 2.14 inch; 3 Sep, 0.10 inch; 10 Sep, 0.07 inch; 11 Sep, 0.38 inch; 12 Sep, 0.06 inch; 13 Sep, 2.04 inch; 14 Sep, 0.10 inch. Abstract:
The study investigated the implications for women from the coast of Paraná, Brazilin regard to the home office in life, family, and work during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research was conducted on 20 women, and 3 (three) categories of analysis were taken into consideration: woman, family, and work. For data analysis, the content of Bardin analysis technique was used. The study revealed that the imposition of the home office brought new challenges for women to reconcile home care, family, and work, which caused an overload of responsibilities leading to fatigue due to the multiple tasks performed; as well as the lack of preparation of companies to adopt the modality, which results in an environment that hinders the performance of their functions and affects the quality of life of workers.
