Abstract:
Many procedures performed by podiatric surgeons today require the use of a soft-tissue anchoring device. In recent years, many new anchoring devices have become available for use in the foot and ankle. The authors introduce a new soft-tissue anchoring device that has yet to be described in the podiatric literature and present two cases in which the new anchor was used.

Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to find out whether the Ogden and Richard theories are still worthy of being a reference for the current situation. This study intended to review the theories that are highly popular in the semantic environment. Ogden and Richard's theory is one of the most popular semantic theories in linguistics. This theory is a very simple theory related to thought/reference, symbol and referent. Besides, this theory is often referred to as a triangle of meaning and a semiotic triangle. Many researchers try to review the Ogden and Richard theory (Theory Triangle) based on the understanding and perspective of the researchers. This study described and compared the similarity and difference between five (5) studies on the triangle of meaning proposed by Ogden and Richard (1923) this study the analysis and employed a comparative study as a qualitative study in nature. This study explored five (5) articles e.g...“Ogden and Richards’ The Meaning of Meaning and early analytic philosophy, Semantic Triangle and Linguistic Sign, Controversies and Misunderstandings about Meaning: On the reception of Ogden and Richards book, (The Meaning of Meaning), Theories of Semantics; Merits and Limitations, Research on Translation Based on Semantic Triangle Theory”. This study sees that the theory of from Ogden and Richards is still worthy of being a reference until now. The studies being used as lens seems giving their positive credits to their study. This means that Ogden and Richards somehow acknowledged being as a prominent study in their field until now.

Abstract:
The Ogden Musewn of Southern Art was created in 1994 when Roger Ogden, offered his world-class collection of Southern art valued at $13 million to The University of New Orleans provided that it could be housed in an approximate facility. Roger Ogden's initial donation was of 600 works dating from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. Ogden stated the reason behind his donation, "I realized that the collection could not remain the responsibility of one individual or family, but that it should belong to the public. I knew that it was incumbent on me to make plans for its placement as a whole."

Full text
Abstract:
The African-American community of Ogden, Utah started much of its growth in the early twentieth century. Prior to the early nineteen hundreds less than one hundred African Americans lived in Ogden. The availability of jobs with the railroads brought many African Americans to Ogden in search of steady employment. Through the decades Ogden's African Americans branched out from railroad and service work into business ownership. As the African-American community grew, its members established new churches in the city. Racism and indifference had their impact on the African Americans. They found themselves segregated into specific neighborhoods and African-American males were unable to hold the priesthood in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Racism was not confined to members of the Mormon Church as the Ku Klux Klan attempted to make inroads into Ogden in the early 1920s. The Klan's limited influence lasted less than two years and soon disappeared due to efforts by the Ogden City Commission. In the 1990s African Americans still comprised a small percentage of Ogden City and Weber County. The L.D.S. Church ended priesthood denial for African Americans in 1978. The study of Ogden's African-American community provides insight into a minority community in the western United States and contrasts the differences between race relations in the West and other geographic areas of the United States.

Abstract:
This thesis examines the representation in both the public and academic arenas of the archaeological excavation at Ur, southern Iraq, during the 1920’s and 30’s through a study of the main characters involved. Sir Leonard Woolley’s excavation is still fundamental to our knowledge of archaeology in that region. Current thought criticises his approach to and interpretation of his work, as having been “Bible driven” and of little scientific validity, but ignores the value of understanding the relationship between the excavator and the wider community from which his funding derived. Drawing on the Ogden archive, this study is our first opportunity to examine how knowledge about the Ur excavations was disseminated, how the archaeological past has been created and used, and how these interpretations presented entered the zeitgeist and still resonate today. As a result of my initial research findings, I gained access to the family archives of the goldsmith James Ogden, a substantial but previously unresearched body of material that provides an almost complete photographic record of the inter-war archaeology in this region as well as a comprehensive record of press coverage and public reaction. It also contains many unpublished letters between those involved at the time, explaining their methods and motivations. This archive complements substantial quantities of unstudied material in other archives of museums and learned societies. Taken together, the archival material provides a fuller understanding of the motivations behind a highly choreographed publicity campaign that successfully enabled the excavation to continue when threatened by inter-war financial shortages. This research elicits an understanding of the social, cultural and economic factors that shaped archaeology in a society that was uneasily assimilating the impact of the new sciences on a still largely Bible reading public. I analyse all the archives in the wider context of the role played by this campaign in shaping contemporary knowledge of the archaeology of Iraq, as well as reflecting inter-war British and Iraqi society. Archaeological activity was being conducted against the dramatically changing backdrop of the Near East after the First World War, the emergence of the nation states of the area, and a growing aggression and hostility to western occupation. The traditional imperialist view of the right to possession of the excavated antiquities was being challenged as the power structure in the region began to shift and new regional identities were forged.

This reaserch is an invitation to a shared walk through the work of Thomas Ogden. Along this course, we will engage in a dialogue with Psychoanalysis through Bion and Winnicott, and with Literature through Forst and Borges. Following Bion, we may say that the experience of reading instrumentalizes the apparatus for thinking with new forms wich are the result of the intersection between the ways of thinking of the author and the reader. Following Winnicott, we conceive that the deep contact with the other, wich, in the case of this research, represents the experience of reading a literary work, leads immediately towards the true self. Strolling through the Library of Borges, we observe the way language works in building subjective truths, wich, exemplified in his fictions, open to the reader imaginary portls towards a true experience. In forst, we underline certain expressions - such as oversounds, sounds of living speech, the sound fo sense, fecthing words - wich contribute to the important conception of the voice of the other that constitute us. Understanding the body as the locus of the experience poetic reveries wich point to the idea that truth is always construct , referenced in the experience of the creator and the observer or, in the case of literature, the reader and the writer.

Abstract:
This paper is concerned with defining a new Weight Function Based model (WFB), which describes the hyper-elastic materials stress-strain behavior. Numerous hyper-elastic theoretical material models have been proposed over the past 60 years capturing the stress-strain behavior of large deformation incompressible isotropic materials. The newly proposed method has been verified against the historic Treloar’s test data for uni-axial, bi-axial and pure shear loadings of Treloar’s vulcanized rubber material, showing a promising level of confidence compared to the Ogden and the Yeoh methods. A non-linear least square optimization Matlab tool was used to determine the WFB, Yeoh and Ogden models material parameters. A comparison between the results of the three models was performed showing that the newly proposed model is more accurate for uni-axial tension as it has an error value which is less than the Ogden and Yeoh models by 1.0 to 39%. Also, the parameters calculation by more than 95%, for the bi-axial and pure shear loading cases compared to the Ogden model. Natural rubber test specimens have been tensioned using a tensile testing machine and the WFB model was applied to fit the test data results showing a very good curve fitting with an average error of 0.44%.WFB model has reduced processing time for the model.

Abstract:
Traumatic rupture of the aorta (TRA) is responsible for 10% to 20% of motor vehicle fatalities [1]. Both finite element (FE) modeling and experimental investigations have enhanced our understanding of the injury mechanisms associated with TRA. Because accurate material properties are essential for the development of correct and authoritative FE model predictions, the objective of the current study was to identify a suitable material model and model parameters for aorta tissue that can be incorporated into FE aorta models for studying TRA. An Ogden rubber material (Type 77B in LS-DYNA 970) was used to simulate a series of high speed uniaxial experiments reported by Mohan [2] using a dumbbell shaped FE model representing human aortic tissue. Material constants were obtained by fitting model simulation results against experimentally obtained corridors. The sensitivity of the Ogden rubber material model was examined by altering constants G and alpha (α) and monitoring model behavior. One single set of material constants (α = 25.3, G = 0.02 GPa, and μ = 0.6000E-06 GPa) was found to fit uniaxial data at strain rates of approximately 100 s−1 for both younger and older aortic tissue specimens. Until a better material model is derived and other experimental data are obtained, it is recommended that the Ogden material model and associated constants derived from the current study be used to represent aorta tissue properties when using FE methods to investigate mechanisms of TRA.

Abstract:
In this work a high-frequency dynamic model of a pre-loaded circular DEAP actuator is developed and experimentally validated. The model is capable of predicting both the static and dynamic response of the actuator. The static response is modeled based on a free energy approach and consists of an Ogden term representing the elastic energy, and a electrical term representing the electrical-mechanical coupling [1]. The addition of viscoelastic elements (spring-dashpot configurations) enables the model to capture the dynamic response. The Ogden coefficients were first identified through a quasi-static force-displacement test of the actuator. A series of validation tests of the actuator at various pre-loads and voltage frequencies showed the model to be in good agreement with the experiments. The model is shown to accurately predict the actuators observed natural frequencies as the pre-deflection and the stiffness of the spring were changed. Future work will include additions to the model to account for relaxation and creep inherent in DEAP material.
