Full textThe authors' joint commitment conflicts produced the idea to study highly-regarded leaders' perspective on workplace conflicts and their constructive resolution. Basically there was a curiosity about how such leaders resolve conflicts so effectively. Workplace conflicts are a major part of a leader´s time at work. While probably unavoidable, how conflicts are handled is crucial for the growth and development of an organization and its employees. There has been practical conflict management research from a leadership perspective, but the studies have had a quantitative focus. This study aims to examine the various ways respected managers address and resolve workplace conflicts. The study seeks to answer the following questions: What kinds of workplace conflict exist in an organization? What are the critical factors in conflicts? How are conflicts viewed constructive/destructive? What is a leader's role when managing/resolving workplace conflict? What abilities and qualities have leaders who manage conflict effectively? The study is based on a qualitative approach using semi-structured interviews. The material was thematic and coded. Results were analysed using the theoretical framework. The empirical data was analysed using Rahims (2002) theory of conflict management. Building on the results, the model which has been developed will be presented at the study’s conclusion. The study's analysis reveals that leaders who deal with conflicts constructively mastered the three main areas of concern, depending on the situation. These are people-oriented, task-oriented, and learning- and culture-oriented. The study's results also revealed that evasive and/or dominant leadership in particular creates barrier store solving conflict.

Biological diversity is important in agricultural systems. The diversity of the agricultural landscape is beautiful to the human eye and it provides an exciting as well as soothing environment. Diversity also denotes genetic resources that can be of great importance in the future. Furthermore, a high biological diversity of weeds most often means a high diversity of insects and other animals, among them the predators of pests, which contributes to high productivity of the arable fields. The diversity of weed in a field depends on its geographical location, the climate and the bedrock. Other factors of great importance to the composition of the weed flora are the farming methods (conventional/ecological) and the specific measures used. One measure that has a high influence on the composition of the weed flora is the use, or exclusion, of herbicides.
The field study of this paper consists of weed inventories of two arable fields – the first cultivated per traditional methods and the second per ecological methods. Herbicides are used in the conventional field but not in the ecological one. The study shows that the ecological field had more secies, a greater diversity, and far more plants than the conventional field. The composition of the weed species indicates that the conventional field had a slightly higher nutritive value and a lower pH value.

Full textBased on ethnographic practices carried out between 2011 and 2013 - including interviews, photographic documentation and polls - this thesis analyzes the meaning of women's soccer in Porto Alegre (RS, Brazil) and Amherst (MA, United States). Instead of using the term “feminine soccer” commonly used both in sports and academic spaces, I propose the concept of “women's soccer”, aiming thereby to disassociate it from normative gender thinking, still hostage to the binomial “masculine/feminine”. Brazilian women's soccer is a space marked by the expression of multiple perspectives of gender. It is characterized by improvised and creative body performances, revealing itself as a space of disputes, but also conviviality, similar to other social spaces. It's, therefore, necessary to state this space as one of multifaceted relations, leaving aside the “discourse of absence”, precariousness and invisibility from which this space has been characterized. In Porto Alegre, one can highlight the social and economical markers that influence the dynamics of groups, while in United States one can highlight age markings. With the proposal to extend more than exhaust the reflections on the subject, I think on the heterogeneity of social actors that make up the world of “women's soccer” in Porto Alegre and Amherst, such as: players, technical commissions, organizers, referees, public and media. The thesis, as a whole, reflects on the need to associate “women's soccer” to the soccer structure established by the logic of media and marketing spectacles as if this were the only possibility of recognition, affirmation of identities and sociability.

Full textBased on the features of mythological, historical and tradition ogres, this thesis questions the rehabilitation and timeliness of the myth of the ogre in a corpus of texts from the most varied French territories. The thesis is structured into five thematic chapters. The first chapter focuses on the birth of the ogre as myth and iconic character of culture and oral tradition in different territories. The second chapter discusses the regimes and tyrants which reign in the ogre: if "ogre" is the name for any tyrannical leader and dictator, he is represented in the texts by a variety of names and faces. In continuation of this research, the third chapter deals with the myth of the ogre from a social and familial perspective. The new avatars of the ogre in the contemporary are the fathers: destructive fathers, suffocating/degrading ones, and practitioners of a metaphorical cannibalism. Excessiveness lies in the violence with which they govern their families. In a Freudian perspective, the fourth chapter focuses on the relationship (sexual) impossible between parents and their offspring generated by symbolic castration, incest and sexual debauchery. The final chapter builds on the declination of the female ogre, ogress in the proposed body. Stunning character, which taking the most seductive forms, is inside only a monster ready to satisfy all her desires of any kind. The revival of the myth of the ogre in contemporary French prose is all too visible
