Geotechnical properties of soil has been considered as the first step in prevention of construction failure. The recent infrastructural failure and the influx of people in Eika Adagu area in Okehi LGA of Kogi State area are due to urbanization. In this study we take standard methods to analyze the various soils collected in different parts of Eika Adagu area in Okehi LGA in Kogi State. Environmental radiation measurement was carried out in Kogi Central Senatorial District of Kogi State, Nigeria. An in-situ measurement approach was adopted using GCA-O6W, Digital Geiger counter and a handheld Global Positioning System equipment. A total of 101 locations were surveyed across the district. In Adavi Local Government Area, the dose rate ranges from 0.04 µSv/h at Iruvucheba to 0.27 µSv/h at Kuroko with mean and standard deviation (SD) value of 0.12. It notes how Armstrong’s Stompers remained at the Sunset Café throughout the summer of 1927, finally winning the approval of Dave Peyton. Armstrong began doubling with the orchestra of pianist Clarnece Jones at the Metropolitan Theater. . Armstrong was still featuring early Hot Five, but OKeh was hoping for similar hits and they weren’t finding them, even with a new Hot Seven batch of recordings. The chapter then discusses how Armstrong conquered the Savoy and decided to record for OKeh again to make history.

Abstract This chapter suggests Richmond, Indiana, as a candidate for a cradle of jazz after Louis Armstrong and King Oliver made their first recordings in 1923. It also notes that King Oliver’s Jazz Band recorded songs with OKeh Records, who knew they had something special and put their promotional resources behind their Chicago recordings. The success of Oliver’s sides led him to receive offers to record for Gennett, OKeh, and Columbia in October 1923 alone. Charles Mumford Bean (1913–92) was born in Fulton, the largest town of Itawamba County in northeastern Mississippi. He learned banjo and fiddle from his father George, and in about 1924 formed a string band with his distant cousins Clarence Relder Priddy (1917–97) on mandolin and Morine Little (1910–2000) on guitar. Bean won the tri-county (Itawamba–Monroe–Lee) fiddlers’ contest in 1925. The trio played over WELO, Tupelo on Saturday-night jamborees, and at dances, political rallies, and other functions. The Newton County Hill Billies recorded six tunes for Okeh Records in Jackson, Mississippi, on December 16, 1930. Alvis Massengale (08/05/1897–10/13/1993) played fiddle, Marcus Harrison mandolin, and Andrew Harrison guitar. Massengale started playing the fiddle around the age of ten, learning from his father and grandfather, who were both fiddlers, and by listening to the radio and records.
