In the indicators of solar activity at least four independent cyclic components can be identified, all of them with temporal variations in their timescales.Time-frequency distributions (see Kolláth & Oláh 2009) are perfect tools to disclose the “music scores” in these complex time series. Special features in the time-frequency distributions, like frequency splitting, or modulations on different timescales provide clues, which can reveal similar trends among different i

The upsurge of cosmographical and geographical literature can be seen in humanist circles from the 14th century onwards. Beside chorography, the encomium of towns and cities was also a popular genre; some elements of ethnography, natural, economic and political geography were also built into the histography. A century later, this tendency reached Hungary and the social aspiration to presentation of the country appeared in Hungary too. Owing to these factors, chorography of Hungary was written by Miklós Oláh; humanist historians (for instance Antonio Bonfini) also incorporeted geographical digr

Discovery of new Trichoptera species in collections from mainland Australia is not unusual, and, currently a number of undescribed species are known in existing collections. However, few new species are likely to be found in Tasmania, the caddisfly fauna of which was collected intensively and formed the basis of a PhD study by Neboiss (1977). Subsequent to Neboiss' work, several new species of Hydroptilidae — micro-caddisflies — were described from Tasmania by Wells (1999), and others recorded from the island (Neboiss 1981; Wells 1979a,b,c, 1980, 1981, 1985, 1997). A number of neurodegenerative diseases are mediated by mutation-induced protein misfolding. The resulting genetic defects, however, are expressed in varying phenotypes. Of the several well-established glycolytic enzyme deficiencies, triosephosphate isomerase (TPI) deficiency is the only one in which haemolytic anaemia is coupled with progressive, severe neurological disorder. In a Hungarian family with severe decrease in TPI activity, two germ line-identical but phenotypically differing compound heterozygote brothers inherited two independent (Phe240 → Leu and Glu145 → stop codon) mutations.
