Abstract:
On August 20 of this year, the VMK-Optoelektronika company – a leading Russian developer and manufacturer of spectral analytical equipment – celebrated its 30th anniversary. The company was founded by the team of developers that initially worked in the Spektr temporary inter-institutional collaboration group created in 1988 by the Chairman of the Presidium of the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Sciences Academician V.A. Koptyug to develop multichannel analyzers of optical spectra based on domestic photodiode arrays and operate them at the academic institutes of the Siberian Branch. Over the past period, the company has developed and produced multichannel analyzers of emission spectra (MAES) based on photodetector array assemblies to equip existing spectral instruments in analytical laboratories and create new ones; a wide range of spectrum sources; high-resolution high-aperture spectral devices; atomic emission spectrometers for the analysis of powders, metals, and liquids. Currently, enterprises in Russia and the CIS countries operate: - more than 600 spectral systems for atomic emission analysis developed on the basis of existing spectral devices by replacing photographic plates and photomultipliers with MAES analyzers; many of these systems also include Sharovaya Molniya and Vezuvii electric-arc and spark-discharge generators, Globula and Kristall spectroanalytical instruments, Potok electric-arc facilities for atomic emission analysis of powder samples by the spill-injection method, and other devices; - about 100 atomic emission spectrometers entirely consisting of devices developed by the company. The company has a leading position in the development of scintillation atomic emission spectral analysis of geological powder samples and simultaneous multielement electrothermal atomic absorption analysis of liquids.

Abstract:
Learning outcomes The learning outcomes of this study are as follows: investigate a story of growth in a volatile emerging market environment; and discuss strategy development in a stagnating, highly competitive market. Case overview/synopsis In October 2017, Pavel Titov, the owner and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abrau-Durso Group, assigned a large international consulting firm to assist him in the development of a new corporate strategy. It was 11 years since the Titov family had taken over the then-struggling iconic sparkling wine manufacturer. The Titovs invested heavily into the enterprise with the dream of reviving the century-old brand, and turned the company around: in 2017, Abrau-Durso was the No. 1 sparkling wine brand in the Russian market. However, the shareholders wanted the company to grow further and believed that it was possible to generate more value. How could the company continue growing and increase its value at a time when the wine market was stagnating and the Russian economy was going through a rough period? AbstractThis contribution presents evidence for “modern” features in Old Assyrian trade (ca. 19th century B.C.), i.e. features not attested in earlier commercial records from ancient Mesopotamia or elsewhere and/or usually considered innovations of classical or early medieval times. It focuses on contractual and legal rules for long-term partnerships (a first step towards company law) and for coping with insolvent, absent or unwilling debtors. It also analyses the implications of bonds in the name of “the (anonymous) creditor,” occasionally designated as “the bearer of the bond,” the earliest evidence of and the first step towards the creation of commercial “bearerâ–™s cheques.”

This article attempts to answer the question whether the distinction between public and private companies is still needed or whether it is outdated. The question will be answered from an EU perspective, while taking the Dutch legal system as a leading example. In the Netherlands, there was a huge time-gap between the introduction of the public company in 1811 and the introduction of the private company in 1971, 160 years later. This seems to justify the question whether we needed the private company at all. Abstract:
The main objectives of this research were to study and analyses oily wastewater characteristics originating from old-processing plant of North Oil Company and to find a suitable and simple method to treat the waste so it can be disposed off safely. The work consists of two stages; the first was the study of oily wastewater characteristics and its negative impacts. The results indicated that oil and grease were the most dominant pollutant with concentration range between 1069 – 3269.3 mg/l that must be removed; other pollutants were found to be within Iraqi and EPA standards. The next stage was the use of these characteristics to choose the proper technology to treat that wastewater. This stage was divided into two stages: the first stage was a jar tests to find the optimum doses of alum, lime and powdered activated carbon (PAC). The second stage was the treatment by a batch pilot plant constructed for this purpose employing the optimum doses as determined from the first stage to treat the waste using a flotation unit followed by a filtration-adsorption unit. The removal efficiencies of flotation unit for oil and grease, COD, and T.S.S found to be 0.9789, 0.974, and 0.9933, respectively, while the removal efficiency for T.D.S was very low 0.0293. From filtration – adsorption column the removal efficiencies of oil and grease, T.D.S, COD, and T.S.S were found to be 0.9486, 0.8908, 0.6870, and 0.7815, respectively. The overall removal efficiencies of pilot plant were 0.9986, 0.8939, 0.9921, and 0.9950, respectively. The results indicated that this type of treatment was the simplest and most effective method that can be used to treat produced oily wastewater before disposal.

Abstract:
Termination of Employment (PHK) for employees is a thing that is very avoided for every employee, it stops there based on their own request, but there is also a reason for regulations that no longer allow the employee to continue his work. Cases of termination of employment (layoffs) against employees in a company often occur. In PT. PP London Sumatera Indonesia, Tbk precisely in the office of the Bah Lias Research Station (BLRS) there were 76 employees laid off. And in the Bah Lias Estate (BLE) office there were 21-22 employees who were laid off. The company will make efficiency because of the excess ratio. Standardization ratio set by the company is 0.16. But the company has exceeded the existing ratio. The service period in the company is 55 years old. After 55 years the company will retire the worker according to the applicable law (Law 13 of 2000). For employees affected by the R program from the company, their rights will be paid according to applicable laws. In this efficiency, there are 4 R program criteria, namely: lose day is workers who are often absent while working or are absent, unproductive are workers who do not have work or workers who are often sick, nearing retirement. The service period in the company is 55 years old, so it is required to retire if the work period has reached 55 years. And the last criterion is undisciplined is workers who are late for work hours and are absent from work.

Abstract:
AbstractThis article explores the justifications for, and objections to, the proposed European Union ‘women on company boards’ Directive. It notes that Member State opposition to the measure had different emphases. The new, post-socialist Member States that intervened prominently questioned the Commission's understanding of the underlying social reality of gender inequality and the measure's focus on results, while the old Member States that intervened raised mainly the issue of subsidiarity and challenged the need for legislative action, and/or particularly the need for legislative action at EU level. The article further argues that the Commission weakened its case by emphasising economic rationales for the measure, and submits that a principled justification fits the proposal better. Finally, the article argues that subsidiarity-related arguments are available also to justify non-cross-border, non-economic projects, such as that of gender equality.

Abstract:
The article deals with taxation of tobacco and tobacco products in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. After tobacco was imported into Poland, its use spread extremely quickly; initially it was used as snuff, and from the 18th century onwards, smoking in pipes became prevalent. Importantly, tobacco and tobacco products were then regarded as a medicine to prevent and cure almost all diseases. Duties on tobacco/snuff were first imposed in 1643 in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and in the Crown tobacco monopoly was introduced in 1659. From that time, tobacco/snuff duties were imposed regularly in Lithuania; in the Crown duty on these products was imposed once again in 1677, and then in the 1690s tobacco monopoly ended throughout the Polish Republic. The issue was revived only in the times of King Stanisław August Poniatowski, when tobacco monopoly was introduced, initially managed by a private company called Kompania Tabaczna, and then, in the 1690s, by the state-owned Manipulacja Tabaczna. However, over the whole period under consideration, revenues from tobacco/snuff taxation were relatively small.

Abstract:
This study aims to: 1) Knowing and analyzing the execution of mortgage guarantees due to the company merger, 2) Knowing and analyzing the legal consequences of the merger on mortgage holders to be executed, 3) Knowing the deed of settlement resulting from the company merger on the implementation of the mortgage guarantee function. The research method used empirical juridical, namely by collecting data or statutory regulations, as well as conducting interviews with related respondents. The specifications used in this study were descriptive analysis. Researchers used empirical specifications with primary and secondary data. The primary data used were obtained directly through the opinions and statements of the respondents through interviews and the reality in the field through observation. The secondary data used by the researcher is carried out by conducting a literature study by reviewing, analyzing and then processing it into a descriptive narrative so that it is easy to understand when read. The data analysis method used by researchers from the stages of primary and secondary data obtained would be descriptive-qualitative analysis. Based on the research, it can be concluded that the legal consequences of the company merger on the implementation of the mortgage guarantee function of the old company that had merged did not renew the credit agreement and mortgage certificate after the merger, so that the new company could not carry out the execution due to the negligence of the old company. Even though the guarantee is in the old company's control, the bank is only the seller of the goods, it remains the property of the debtor so that it is against propriety and violates the rights of the owner of the goods if the bank violates it by selling cheap prices. In accordance with developments in Indonesia after the birth of the Mortgage Law, the grosse deed is still maintained by introducing the mortgage certificate which also uses irah-irah so that it has executive power.

Abstract:
AbstractThe Dutch West India Company (WIC), founded in 1621, was, in the words of the States General, “disbanded and destroyed” in September 1674 due to bankruptcy. In its stead, a second West India Company was founded, with a charter largely taken over from the first. This article explores how the dissolution of the first company and the conflicting interests of stockholders, bondholders, and company directors were managed. As it turns out, the old company was not actually liquidated; instead, its assets were simply handed over to the successor company, while an intricate financial construction was devised to take care of the debt burden and to capitalize the new company. The reasons for this unusual arrangement must be sought in the company's great political, and particularly geopolitical, importance. Since the Dutch state was unwilling and unable to handle colonial governance and defence itself, it needed a placeholder in the form of a chartered company. However, the bankruptcy of the WIC, coming at the time it did, had major consequences for the shape of the Dutch Atlantic of the eighteenth century.

Abstract:
AbstractThe old authorities have been quoted in, and relied on by, the courts of the Cape and subsequently in the other territories making up the Republic of South Africa from the foundation of the colony by the Dutch East India Company in the middle of the seventeenth century. By the end of the nineteenth century not only were the main authorities extensively quoted in the courts but the doctrines they contained were being incorporated in the textbooks that were being written. And that is still the position. It is not likely that the new generation of judges to be appointed in the next few decades will frequently consult the old authorities for guidance but the civil component of the law, already anchored in the judgments of the courts and the textbooks, will forever be part of the law. When the old authorities are consulted, it is likely that those used will primarily be those available in English translation.

Abstract:
In 1934, Louis B. Wright wrote, “All the world knows since the publication of studies by Professors Graves, Rollins, and Hotson that . . . [the drama's] light never went out completely.” Yet in a 2001 reference book, a contributor writes, “After an eighteen year hiatus. . . .” No wonder that Dale Randall could legitimately write in 1995, “We are asked to believe that little or nothing happened in English drama for the next eighteen years” beginning in 1642. His Winter Fruit is an important survey of dramatic activity during the Interregnum, and scholars continue to document the varieties of theatrical activities in the period. My essay is a modest contribution to the accumulation of details about a lingering, integral puzzle: how two London companies with experienced actors and new stars came into existence so quickly in 1660. It also shows that the Old City of London was not as inhospitable to drama as it is often portrayed. The piece of this puzzle that I can supply is the picture of John Rhodes and the Drapers' Company. Of Rhodes, John Downes wrote that in the winter of 1659–60 he “fitted up a House then for Acting call'd the Cock-Pit in Drury-Lane, and in a short time Compleated his Company.” Downes supplies a list of plays acted there beginning in February and comments that one of these new actors, Thomas Betterton, then “but 22 Years Old, was highly Applauded for his Acting . . . ; his Voice being then as Audibly strong, full and Articulate, as in the Prime of his Acting.”

Abstract:
The personalities in a population of landscape horticulture graduates at a 2-year technical college were found to be similar to those in a population of landscape company managers. However, the personalities of the landscape company managers do differ from those in a general population of college students in terms of their information acquisition, decision making, and lifestyle preferences. The typical landscape company manager in the population surveyed was found to be a 41-year-old male with a bachelors degree. This individual had been employed in the occupation for 20 years, worked ≥41 hours per week, and rated job satisfaction as high.

Abstract:
Digital technology is present within each stage of process and are present at all the stages as well. There are two types of models in digital servitization. These two are continuous and discontinuous processes. The continuous model helps to develop the existing business model of the company and enhances it for better understanding. Discontinuous model makes a whole new business model for the company and scraps out the old model. The company has to change its whole business model when they adopt discontinuous model for itself. This model is more time consuming and more costly than the other.

Abstract:
With a great response from Indian urban consumers, home services start- up, Urban Clap looked forward to venture into the global markets. The think tanks thought of rebranding the company from Urban Clap to Urban Company. The company was successful in luring investors and raising capital. It rigorously focused on employee training and improving customer experience which resulted in great success for a 6-year-old start – up. Urban Company co-founder Abhiraj Bhal said at the announcement that the intention behind the rebranding was to have a globally acceptable company name (Sheth, 2020). For increasing the scale of operations, the company tied up with NSDC to source, train and employ at least a million individuals from tier 2 and 3 cities. It is a historical fact that many times rebranding may fail. When we compare the entry of foreign brands into India, we see that the majority have used their original name and value proposition which is carried by the parent brand. Only time can tell that the decision will go right or wrong for “Urban Company”.

Abstract:
Scooters India Ltd. (SIL) was established in the year 1972 by the Government of India as a public sector enterprise by importing old plant and machinery from a defunct automobile company in Italy. The company incurred losses ever since its inception so much so that at one point of time (in 1989–90), it made a loss of Rs 404 million against a sale of Rs 103 million. It had accumulated losses to the tune of Rs 2125 million. The worker unions were agitating and fought pitched battle amongst themselves, against the management, and the government. The government almost made up its mind to wind up the company and appointed a new Chief Executive, Dr Sahay, who pleaded against winding up and worked for the revival of the company. In 1992, the company got covered under BIFR which reinforced the government's stand that the company cannot survive. Undeterred, Dr Sahay took up the challenge of turning around the company. After seven years of slogging, the company earned a net profit for the first time, in its silver jubilee year, breaking many myths in the process.

Abstract:
The availability of a production item is still difficult to monitor by the company, because the system used still relies on manual calculations from employees of the company. Assisting the company in predicting the availability of production goods effectively then used the fuzzy logic calculations. During this time the availability of production goods in Salman Collection is seen from customer's request. This makes the company not get the maximum profit because there is no planning the amount of production of goods, if the number of products manufactured by the company is less than the number of requests then the company will lose the opportunity to Gain maximum profit. Conversely, if the number of products produced is much more than the number of requests then the company will suffer losses. Application of goods production optimization using Fuzzy logic Mamdani method is an application intended to solve the problem of goods production in Salman Collection is uncertain. Implementing Fuzzy logic on solving the problem of production goods can help the company to optimize the production of goods. The construction of this application the company can determine the amount of production that corresponds to consumer demand and by applying Fuzzy logic Mamdani methods Most of the demand in Salman Collection is fulfilled and more optimal than With the old system or the amount in production by the company.

Abstract:
This paper deals with Alternative Dispute Resolution in labour relations within a company in the French context. By contrast with the United States and Canada, mediation and arbitration are rarely used in France for resolving individual or collective labour relations disputes. It is therefore interesting to study such voice procedures in labour relations in France and analyse their impact on procedural justice and equity within the company. The study also analyses the incentives to use mediation/arbitration, in labour relations, as well as the disincentives. It highlights the importance of information and communication with the employees in fostering positive attitudes to it and reducing their fears. This is illustrated by an empirical study of the French subsidiary of the IBM Corporation. We focus our attention on the IBM ‘open door’ policy and describe the results of a quantitative statistical analysis of 203 respondents.

The research design was descriptive and the respondents were 50 persons chosen through the purposive sampling technique. The researchers found out that most of the respondents' age ranges from 20 to 24 years old. 70% of them were single, 74% were female, and their source of income was work/employment. They have learned about the investment company through social media and they were not aware that the company is fraud. The majority of them were recruited and the most enticing offer of the investment company is to double their income/profit or double their money in a month. They were bothered by the money they lose but most of them are having second thoughts of trying their luck again in an investment company.
