The reduction in funding for private social service providers has led to a reduction in the number of beneficiaries, limiting their access to the care they need. Thus, the

Many older adults who are no longer able to live independently due to a combination of impairments need to live in living environments that are adapted to their health conditions. Generally, these are various types of housing, such as nursing or retirement homes, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, residential care homes, palliative or rehabilitation centres, etc., which can be referred to as long-term care living environments. Although the recent trend in Europe has been to allow older adults to remain living at home as long as possible, the demand for institutionalised fo

The quality of life of elderly people is linked to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals - no poverty, good health and well-being, reduced inequality, sustainable cities and communities. According to the 2022 census, individuals older than 64 make up about 22% of the total population in Serbia. Involving older people in tourist movements primarily has a great social importance. Within the framework of the subsidy program for domestic tourism in Serbia, retirees represented 55% of all users of holiday vouchers in 2024. Growing the proportion of older people requires adapting services and products to their needs and preferences, which will support and extend their full life. While once people aged 55 and over considered themselves old, most of them now live an active life. Over the past decade, the proportion of those who are fully employed has changed and their stereotypes and behaviour have increased, thus changing the quality of life demands. With the gradual aging of the population, the problem of dealing with the housing of older people begins to grow. Housing is one of the key factors in the fight again

Abstract:
This document describes recent demographic, economic, and social trends of people 50 and older in Latin America. We analyze the labor profile of those generations who will face retirement over the next two decades to understand how likely it is to reduce the current gaps in coverage and sustainability of pensions. We explore the occupation profiles, contributions to social security, and their comparisons with previous generations. The document's last section describes different inequality angles for this population, including income and access to public services.

Abstract:
Rapid demographic changes in Malaysia and Viet Nam could disrupt traditional family support for older people. An analysis of unique panel data from the Malaysia Ageing and Retirement Survey and the Viet Nam Aging Survey points to the benefits of living conditions—including marital status and whether one’s children live nearby—for the physical and mental well-being of older people. Given the estimated protective effect of living arrangements examined in the paper, governments may need to adjust social safety nets to bolster the physical and mental health of senior citizens living alone.

The digital age requires people of all ages to communicate and organise their lives through digital technologies. The project EQualCare (“Alone but connected? Digital (in)equalities in care work and generational relationships among older people living alone”) investigated how the growing population of older people living alone is man-aging this transition, how it shapes their (non-)digital social networks and what changes on local, regional, national and international levels need to be brought about to ensure (digital) equality.
