Abstract:
Trogidae (Coleoptera) is a cosmopolitan family with about 350 described species within five extant genera (Zídek 2013, 2017; Strümpher et al. 2014, 2016; Nikolajev 2016). For South American, three genera are recorded: Trox Fabricius, 1775 (Troginae), Omorgus Erichson, 1847 (Omorginae), and Polynoncus Burmeister, 1876 (Omorginae) (Scholtz 1990; Strumpher et al. 2016; Huchet & Costa-Silva 2018).

Abstract:
Extant genera and subgenera of the Trogidae (Coleoptera: Scarabaeoidea) are reviewed. Contemporary classifications of this family have been based exclusively on morphological characters. The first molecular phylogeny for the family recently provided strong support for the relationships between morphologically defined genera and subgenera. On the basis of morphological, molecular and biogeographical evidence, certain taxonomic changes to the genus-level classification of the family are now proposed. The family is confirmed as consisting of two subfamilies, Omorginae Nikolajev and Troginae MacLe

Abstract:
A new case of hemidystrophy in Trogidae is here described and illustrated. The teratological specimen was identified as a male of Omorgus (Omorgus) alternans (MacLeay, 1827), being the first record of a teratological specimen of a trogid from Australia. While teratological cases provide limited taxonomic insights, they offer significant understanding of the environmental influences on insect development. The study emphasizes the importance of documenting such anomalies, contributing to the broader knowledge of developmental biology in insects, particularly within the under-researched Australia

Abstract:
An illustrated catalogue of South American species of the genus Omorgus Erichson is presented. Based on this study we propose the following taxonomic changes: Omorgus (Omorgus) capillaceus Scholtz, 1990, syn. nov. and Omorgus (O.) lucidus Pittino, 2010, syn. nov. are proposed as junior subjective synonyms of Omorgus (O.) fuliginosus (Robinson, 1941) and Omorgus (O.) ciliatus (Blanchard, 1847), respectively. Lastly, we designated a male neotype for the ubiquitous New World species Trox suberosus Fabricius, 1775 to replace the missing type.

Abstract:
In this paper, we describe and illustrate another species of the family Trogidae, Omorgus (Afromorgus) moreshwar Kalawate & Strümpher, new species from the western part of Maharashtra State in India. In addition, a catalogue of all 22 valid species with their available synonyms of the subgenus Afromorgus Scholtz, 1986 known from the Oriental and Palaearctic Regions is presented. For each species we report type depository, type locality, chresonymy and distribution. Lectotypes are designated for the following species: Trox haagi Harold, 1872 (now Omorgus (A.) haagi), Trox indicus Harold, 18
