This paper investigates the association between the Remuneration Committee (RC) on firm performance. The research uses a data span of 63 financial institutions for a period of 12 years. Ordinary Least Square (OLS) and Random Effects (RE) regression estimations are used. The ascertained empirical results indicate that the establishment of remuneration committee by the board is positively correlated to its performance, as measured by its Return on Assets (ROA), and is also statistically significant on the Market Value (MV) of the firm. Abstract Natural gas pipeline corrosion represents a substantial cost and safety concern during normal operations. The effective and real-time monitoring of corrosion is important to detect and mitigate pipeline risks before corrosion-related catastrophic events happen. Here, we describe the use of iron (Fe)-coated optical fiber sensors (OFS) for distributed corrosion monitoring where Fe acts as a corrosion proxy. By using an optical backscattering reflectometer (OBR), corrosion was monitored based on the increase in the backscattered intensity amplitude of the light passing through the fiber

Abstract Material selection in the chemical and petrochemical industry must consider natural variations in the process environment. This includes varying corrosion potential, pH and chloride concentration depending on process control and feedstock. Also, when trying to optimize productivity these parameters might be of interest to intentionally modify. A better understanding of how the process environment affects the passive layer formation can help make more informed material selection than classic pass/fail tests. In this work, the protective and semiconductive properties of the passive film

Shocks to rms physical productivity have only modest eects on rm-level employment decisions. In contrast, the paper documents rapid and substantial employment adjustments through hires and separations in response to rm-level demand shocks. The choice of adjustment margin depends on the sign of the shock: rms adjust through increased hires if these shocks are positive and through increased separations if the shocks are negative.
