Abstract:
In this study, we aimed to quantitatively monitor and describe the gait functions of patients, who underwent iliac crest bone grafting in atrophic jaw augmentation operation, by taking into account the alterations of gait parameters and muscle forces in the early recovery course. To do so, temporospatial and kinematic gait parameters of ten patients during pre- and postoperative periods were recorded, and forces of the gluteus medius, gluteus maximus, and iliacus muscles were calculated. Three postoperative periods were specified as one week (post-op1), two weeks (post-op2), and three weeks (post-op3) after the surgery. Restoring process of the gait patterns was comparatively evaluated by analyzing the gait parameters and muscle forces for pre- and postoperative periods. Temporospatial and kinematic parameters of post-op3 were closer to those obtained in pre-op than those in post-op1 and post-op2 (p<0.05). Muscle forces calculated in post-op3 showed the best agreement with those in pre-op among the postoperative periods in terms of both magnitude and correlation (p<0.05). In conclusion, the patients began to regain their preoperative gait characteristics from the second week after surgery, but complete recovery in gait was observed three weeks after the surgery.

Abstract:
<span>This paper proposes an improved control and monitors between two different PLCs, the Mitsubishi, and Omron. The main advantage is interoperability and communication between both PLC. The use of NI OPC server as the software interface reached interoperability and communication. There were developed two field applications to test interoperability. Laboratory virtual instrument engineering workbench (LabVIEW) uses as the software application for creating the user interface to control and monitor. This improvement show OPC server technology solves data compatibility issue between different driver controller’s and reducing development cost. Regardless of whether there are more than two different PLCs, it's enough to use the NI OPC server. So the benefit of the NI OPC server is not limited to two types of PLC used right now but can also use the other manufacturers. Besides, the improvement of the previous study is the use of the LabVIEW makes data from the OPC server displayed more realistic. The use of LabVIEW allows additional monitoring functions, one of which is LabVIEW vision. Data utilization becomes more flexible, and so it can use for more complex purposes. It is envisaged that this is very useful for Integrator engineer to implement this method in industrial automation</span>

Abstract:

Abstract:
The report describes the work and results of a comparison between Sensu and op5 Monitor, which are both tools used to monitor devices in a network, more commonly known as network monitoring systems. The subject was chosen due to the fact that there is such a wide range of network monitoring systems, and it is constantly expanding. It was considered valuable to compare a newcomer with an older tool that is built with a different mindset. It was considered interesting to test how these tools handled the reports created and collected by them, to see if the final results from this would differ or not. To test this a virtual testing environment was built, where Sensu and op5 Monitor were run in parallel to each other and monitored the same systems and used the same set of plugins. The experiments were conducted on two services, BIND9 and Apache2, since the plugins were constructed in different ways, so were the various experiments. In these experiments information was gathered about how the two monitoring tools handled the reports they received, which was then compiled and analysed. The conclusion of it all was that Sensu and op5 Monitor handles the collected information in a similar manner. The reported results were in all cases the same, thus the two monitoring tools behave in the same fashion.

The purpose of power system monitoring is to transmit the measurements through communication network for analysis. Most of the modern instruments provide some fundamental communication facility for local access. Instead of using tradition dynamic data exchange (DDE), OPC(OLE for process control) is applied for data acquisition, transmit and storage in the thesis. In the remote site, LabVIEW is used as OPC server which provides raw data. In the local site, Wonderware InTouch is uses as Man-Machine Interface (MMI). Both applications provide graphical User Interface for ease of use. The key purpose of this thesis is to transmit large amount of real-time waveform information from remote sites to a local site for storage and analysis. Because of using OPC, a large number of remote sites can be installed, information can be transmitted to the control center for system wide analysis.

Abstract:
Preeclampsia and other hypertensive diseases during pregnancy are common causes of maternal morbidity and increase the risk for adverse fetal outcomes. Women are monitored for changes in blood pressure throughout pregnancy and depending on gestational age, once such changes are noted providers may opt to move toward delivery. Blood pressure control and magnesium sulfate are the cornerstone of therapy as well as the key to preventing progression to eclampsia. A thorough understanding of this disease process is essential for anesthesiologists and other anesthesia providers to provide optimal and safe care for labor analgesia and cesarean delivery, or to manage sequelae of advanced disease processes, such as seizure.

Marco de monitoreo de los servicios relacionados con el VIH y las ITS para grupos de población clave en América Latina y el Caribe. Pan American Health Organization, 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.37774/9789275321058.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract Chevron Corporation and Bluewater Energy Services (BES) performed a chain out-of-plane bending (OPB) test, called OPB MAX hereafter, at DNV GL’s laboratory in Høvik-Norway. The test was performed to study the OPB phenomenon for a chain diameter which was larger than the maximum diameter tested by the OPB JIP. The goal was to understand chain OPB physics for such a large diameter, measure interlink stiffness and maximum sliding moments and validate BES’ in-house finite element model. The current study is a collaboration between all involved parties and the results will be presented in three papers. The first paper summarizes the test setup and instrumentation. The second paper describes the test results, compares them with the OPB JIP estimations and tries to describe the chain OPB physics. The third and the last paper presents the FEA results performed by BES’ in-house finite element model. This paper is the first of the three and focuses on the test setup and instrumentation. The testing machine has been developed by DNV GL and is capable of applying tensions up to 350 t and interlink rotations in the range of ±3 degrees. Two 7-link chain specimens of R4 and R4s grades, both with the nominal diameter of 168 mm were tested at five tension levels from 150, to 350 t. Testing was performed in both wet and dry conditions. Twenty strain gauges were used to measure 3 OPB and 2 IPB moments at 5 mid-link positions. Twelve strain gauge rosettes were used on 3 links to evaluate SCF’s on the OPB hotspots. Seven inclinometers were used to monitor link rotations. DNV GL utilized a digital image processing tool to capture relative movements of chain links and developed a specific data processing tool to calculate the interlink stiffness, perform statistical analysis and provide several levels of data evaluation and comparison between the tests. The paper will provide a description of the test matrix and test objectives are given with the background of the previously performed OPB tests. Next a detailed description of the test rig is presented including the utilized instrumentation. Finally, an explanation of the implemented real-time test monitoring and the performed post-processing on the readings, in line with the test objectives is mentioned. The initial test results are briefly provided at the end.

Abstract:
In order to improve the production efficiency while facing today’s manufacturing uncertainty, responsive and adaptive capabilities for rapid production changes are essential. This paper presents how dynamic control and real-time monitoring (embedded in a web-based Wise-ShopFloor framework) can integrate virtual models with real shop floors. Wise-ShopFloor (Web-based integrated sensor-driven e-ShopFloor) uses Java technologies (e.g., Java Servlet and Java3D) for implementing the system. It allows the operators, both remote and on-site, to monitor and control machines, devices and operations on a shop floor, based on run-time information from the connected machines, devices and their sensors. Two case studies are presented to demonstrate the approach towards web-based adaptive manufacturing. The first demonstrating how OPC-technology is used to improve the monitoring and control capabilities of the production and the second one focusing on remote control of a robot eliminating the need of motion planning and tedious robot programming.

Full text
Abstract:
As the reversible pump-turbines operate in the S-shaped region, instability problems including backflow, vortex formation and rotating stall may appear. Previous researches studied instabilities at different guide vane opening (GVO) on their inception and evolution but few studies explored the effect of the blade lean at the leading edge. In present work, two runners tested by experiments, the runner A with a negative and the runner B with a positive blade lean at leading edge, were studied in CFD mode with a reduced scale model. Six operating points, namely, best efficiency point (OP#1), two points in the normal operating region (OP#2, OP#3), two points near runaway line (OP#4, OP#5) and a low discharge point in turbine brake (OP#6) were calculated for both runners. As the discharge reduces, the flow in the runners loses its symmetry and the efficiency becomes lower and lower. The flow of OP#1, OP#2 and OP#3 is healthy but slight separations locate near the inlet of the passages. At OP#4, obvious vortexes occupy the passages and the visible vortexes prevent the flow from entering the channels. The blockage generates strong backflow near the inlet of the runner. Moreover, the main backflow area locates near the hub for runner A while for runner B it is near the shroud. Unsteady vortex formation and rotating stall respectively exist at the near runaway points (OP#4 and OP#5) and low discharge point (OP#6). At these three points, the pressure fluctuations in the vaneless gap between the runner and guide vanes are very high and the amplitude shows a small difference between the two runners. Dramatic distinction appears on the frequency of the fluctuation. For both of the two runners, a peak corresponding to 70% fn, where fn is the runner rotating frequency, rises in the spectra of OP#4 and OP#5. This peak appears at all the monitors in the vaneless space at the same time standing for the unsteady vortex formation, which does not rotate with the blades. In addition, at OP#6, 40% and 50% fn are detected as the dominant frequencies for runner A and runner B respectively. In addition, the propagation of such two low frequency signal along the annulus in the vaneless space proves the existence of the rotating stalls.
