Visual neglect of stimuli on the left side of space typically occurs following damage to the right parietal lobe following cardiovascular accident or 'stroke' and is generally understood to arise from an attentional bias towards one side ofspace. It is proposed that the more automatic mechanisms of normal visual attention, those responsive to reward/threat are typically spared in this syndrome and may be utilised to modulate visual search behaviour. By applying a behavioural shaping procedure to a visual search task, it was found that the search behaviour of two out ofthree participants with c

This thesis proposes specific signal processing and machine learning methodologies for automatically aligning the lyrics of a song to its corresponding audio recording. The research carried out falls in the broader field of music information retrieval (MIR) and in this respect, we aim at improving some existing state-of-the-art methodologies, by introducing domain-specific knowledge. The goal of this work is to devise models capable of tracking in the music audio signal the sequential aspect of one particular element of lyrics - the phonemes. Music can be understood as comprising differ

Abstract:
Online learning has altered music education remarkable in the last decade. Large and increasing amount of music performing learners participate in online music learning courses due to the easy-accessibility and boundless of time-space constraints. Singing can be considered the most basic form of music performing. Automatic singing voice assessment, as an important task in Music Information Retrieval (MIR), aims to extract musically meaningful information and measure the quality of learners' singing voice. Singing correctness and quality is culture-specific and its assessment requires cu
