Abstract:
<p>Self-tuning has been an elusive goal for operating systems and is becoming a pressing issue for modern operating systems. Well-trained system administrators are able to tune an operating system to achieve better system performance for a specific system class. Unfortunately, the system class can change when the running applications change. The model for self-tuning operating system is based on a monitor-classify-adjust loop. The idea of this loop is to continuously monitor certain performance metrics, and whenever these change, the system determines the new system class and dynamically adjus

Most of the vibrating feeder equipment operate with two vibrators where the synchronisation is obtained either by electronically controlling phases of driving electric motors or using kinematic couplings like gears, v-belts or toothed belts. The objective of the research was to confirm if two vibrators on the same testing rig will self–synchronise when operating in the same and opposite directions. Tests were also done for two vibrators running with different frequencies.

This is a fancy way to denote a fluid dynamics problem in which a deformable object is capable to advance in a low Reynolds number flow governed by the Stokes equations. The fluid is infinitely extended around the swimming body and the propulsive viscous force and torque are those generated by the fluid-swimmer interaction. No-slip boundary conditions are imposed: the velocity of the fluid and that of the swimmer are the same at the contact surface. Moreover, a self-propulsion constraint is enforced: no external forc

Adopting SOM neural network for given samples, we can obtain a geometric map of the trained neurons with its resemblance. Then, for a group of test samples, the trained neurons are applied for clustering or classifying. The image patterns of number and English characters are used as our experiment’s input samples. First, they are transform to binary bitmap with a given threshold value. From the proposed SOM neural ne
