We often pass this idea on to students by characterizing them as either mathematics and science or language and history learners. As a teacher, I dread the comment “I'm no good in mathematics. AbstractThe context for this paper is Feferman's theory of explicit mathematics, T0. We address a problem that was posed in [6]. Let MID be the principle stating that any monotone operation on classifications has a least fixed point. The main objective of this paper is to show that T0 + MID, when based on classical logic, also proves the existence of non-monotone inductive definitions that arise from arbitrary extensional operations on classifications. From the latter we deduce that MID, when adjoined to classical T0, leads to a much stronger theory than T0.

Vedic Mathematics arise from the prehistoric classification of Indian mathematics that was recreated by Tirthaji. Ancient mathematical operations are depending on sixteen methods. In this article, a new VLSI architecture to compute factorial of the given number with Vedic based multiplier is proposed. Simulations are performed using Xilinx ISE 14.2. Effective comparative analysis is made with existing multipliers to prove the momentous development in competence and high speed operation. This efficient multiplier is implemented in the proposed factorial architecture which significantly reduces

AbstractInterval arithmetic has been extensively applied to systems of linear equations by the interval matrix arithmetic community. This paper demonstrates through simple examples that some of this work can be viewed as particular instantiations of an abstract “design operation,” the RANGE operation of the Labeled Interval Calculus formalism for inference about sets of possibilities in design. These particular operations promise to solve a variety of design problems that lay beyond the reach of the original Labeled Interval Calculus. However, the abstract view also leads to a new operation, a

The concept of soft sets introduced by Molodtsov is a general mathematical tool for dealing with uncertainty. Just as the conventional set-theoretic operations of intersection, union, complement, and difference, some corresponding operations on soft sets have been proposed. Unfortunately, such operations cannot keep all classical set-theoretic laws true for soft sets. In this paper, we redefine the intersection, complement, and difference of soft sets and investigate the algebraic properties of these operations along with a known union operation. We find that the new operation system on soft s

Fractions are a major area of concept and skill study in elementary school mathematics. The game in this article helps students practice many of these concepts and skills in a motivational and informal setting. The major concepts covered by this game include identifying fractions, equivalent fractions, and improper fractions; performing operations with fractions; and reading and writing numerals for fractions. This game also helps develop number sense and uses models to explore operation sense with fractions. The emphasis is on developing and understanding fraction concepts and operations.

Abstract This article deals with algebraic logic. In particular, it discusses the theory of consequence operations and the general concept of logical independency. The advantage of this general view is its gr- eat applicability: The stated properties of consequence operations hold for almost every logical system. The notion of independency is well known and important in logic, philosophy of science and mathematics. Roughly speaking, a set is independent with respect to a consequence operation, if none of its elements is a consequence of the other elements. The property of being an independent
