When a radar pulse encounters obstacles in its path, the accuracy of radar reflectivity data is adversely affected, which in turn decreases the quality of forecasting and nowcasting tools such as rainfall totals and cell-tracking algorithms. In this study, we seek an optimal solution for real-time, operational gap-filling in radar data contaminated by known areas of ground clutter, and explore a variety of algorithms of increasing complexity to that end, making use of a geostatistical method known as ordinary kriging. The final result is the development of a "smart" ordinary kriging algorithm.

Objective was to automate SRU heater refractory dry out operation (with or without refractory repair) as per standard operating procedures to ensure process safety & asset integrity by minimizing human error. Besides it aims to reduce dry out time & thus energy requi

Abstract:
This paper focuses on thermal-design options of a new pressure channel for SuperCritical Water-cooled Reactors (SCWRs). The objectives of this paper are to estimate heat losses from the coolant to the moderator for a preliminary fuel-channel design and to investigate effects of the insulator thickness and moderator pressure on the overall heat losses. In order to fulfill the objectives, the heat losses for an existing reactor were calculated and compared with available values from open literature. These calculations became the basis for calculation of the heat loss for the chosen new fuel-chan

In ASME 1996 International Gas Turbine and Aeroengine Congress and Exhibition. American Society of Mechanical Engineers, 1996. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/96-gt-322.

Abstract:
This paper covers the experience from the retrofit of a new dual-mode injection compressor into the existing gas compression facilities on an offshore platform. The implementation of this new and innovative compressor technology made it possible to fulfil new requirements to higher throughput, different kind of service, improved safety level and economical operation. But then the compressor exhibited gas dynamic instability — determined as rotating stall in the impeller — a phenomenon not well understood. The literature on this topic is scare. The rotating stall phenomenon caused a significant

The power of artificial intelligence (AI) coupled with optimization algorithms can be linked to data-rich digital twin models to perform predictive analysis to make better informed decisions about installation operations and quality of life for the warfighters. In the current research, we developed AI connected lifecycle building information models through the creation of a data informed smart digital twin of one of US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) buildings as our test case. Digital twin (DT) technology involves creating a virtual representation of a physical entity. Digital twin is created

Review question / Objective: The critical point of this study was to comprehensively evaluate the curative effect of Photodynamic therapy (PDT) in diseases of female lower reproductive tract associated with the human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. Condition being studied: Traditional clinical recommendations for treating diseases of the female lower reproductive tract include topical therapy with drugs, surgery, intravaginal radiation, carbon dioxide (CO2) laser, etc. Although medication is easy to administer, it has a high recurrence rate and adverse effects such as burning sensation, pain,

The goal of a QIBA Profile is to help achieve a useful level of performance for a given biomarker. The Claim (Section 2) describes the biomarker performance. The Activities (Section 3) contribute to generating the biomarker. Requirements are placed on the Actors that participate in those activities as necessary to achieve the Claim. Assessment Procedures (Section 4) for evaluating specific requirements are defined as needed. This QIBA Profile (MR-based cartilage compositional biomarkers (T1ρ, T2) ) addresses the application of T1ρ and T2 for the quantification of cartilage composition, which c
