Abstract:
A company can be considered sustainable when it pursues its goals while maintaining ecological balance, and employee and community well-being. This perception of enterprise activities results from the spread of the concept of sustainable development, according to which enterprises should not only achieve their own goals, but also address the needs of a wide range of stakeholders. The transformation of enterprises towards sustainability is a difficult and multidimensional process. It requires changes in operation of an enterprise, e.g., including environmental, social and governance (ESG) facto

Developing and sustaining complex systems requires collaboration of multidisciplinary teams, coordination of processes, methods and tools, allocation of resources and utilization of adequate facilities within enterprises. The system engineering management comprises three intertwined domains: the product, the project and the enterprise. Despite the obvious links between them, each is carried out using its distinct ontology and toolset. This conceptual separation hinders effective handling of the project and product lifecycle activities within the enterprise. Testing activities of complex produc

In early June 2021, representatives from a number of CNI member institutions gathered for the third in a series of Executive Roundtable discussions that began in spring 2020, during the early days of the COVID-19 emergency. The conversations were intended to inform our understanding of how the pandemic had impacted the research enterprise and to share information about how institutions were planning to shape investments and strategies surrounding the research enterprise going forward. Previous Roundtables were held in April and September 2020 and reports from those conversations are available

Abstract:
We describe Scottish farming as a network of resources and farm enterprises. Resources move between enterprises as inputs and outputs. The network of farming activities was taken from the SRUC Farm Management Handbook. The network is fragile to the removal of resources, but some resources, such a labour and land, are more important as they are shared between more enterprises. The farming system constrains changes between enterprise. Changing from one business enterprise to another is likely to be easier the more shared resources there are between them.

Abstract:
This paper reviews the 2011 Sector Strategy on Institutions for Growth and Social Welfare (SIGS) of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB, or Bank). The Strategy was produced as a requirement of the IDB-9 agreement. The review finds that the Strategy replicates a number of patterns observed in prior sector strategies. SIGS represents the first time that the Bank uses a modern definition of institutions; however, the concept of institutions is not incorporated as a guiding principle for setting priorities. Like other strategies, SIGS largely reflects the current work of the Bank, and also re

This research provides a cross-country perspective on the rate of digitalisation of Irish enterprises. We explore differences across countries, sectors and firm size categories by deploying data on both the usage of digitalisation technologies (stock of digital activities) as well as investment in new digital activities (flow). We draw on two main datasets: a) the Eurostat ICT usage in enterprises survey; and b) the European Investment Bank Investment Survey. We find that Ireland performs relatively well in terms of e-commerce and some more advanced technologies. However particular sectors and
