Projektets ide är främst att göra byggnaden till en spektakulär och funktionell upplevelse förbesökarna. Varför är detta förslag den bästaför den här platsen? För att den är intressant och blir som ett märke och symbol för Stockholm som Sydneyoperan är för Australien. Dessutom kopplar den till omgivningen med sitt reflekterande fasad och den skapar en ny och spännande inre miljö för besökarna. När man har ett så stort program som detta projekt har bör man ta chansen att skapa att skapa monumentala rum och intresseväckande former. Abstract:

Operabyggnaden placeras längst ut på piren och tar hela dess udde i anspråk. Operan riktar sig mot staden. Byggnadens storlek och koncept kräver viss rymd och ljus runt sig varför valet av plats blev naturligt. Den stora operavolymen skärs itu i flera delar och de olika volymerna binds sedan samman av en stålkonstruktion som på vissa ställen fungerar som ett orangeri medan den på andra ställen är en öppen pergolastruktur. Växtligheten används som ett material och ger intressanta rum, skuggspel och klimat. Orangeriet/pergolan löper igenom och runt byggnaden och såväl personal som besökare rör

Abstract:

Jag har valt att placera operan i Frihamnen för jag tror att det är bra för stadens utveckling att flytta ut viktiga byggnader så att innerstaden får växa ochde nya bostadsområderna får en egen, attraktiv karaktär. Operan skulle bli en samlingplats och knutpunkt för den nya värtastaden och skapa ett flöde fråninnerstan till Frihamnen, vilket skulle gynna verksamheter i området och leda till en blandning av bostäder och olika verksamheter.

Abstract:

Min ambition har varit att operabyggnaden ska imitera och spegla platsens karaktär och unika läge i staden.Galärvarvet är ett område som har direkt närhet till både staden (Strandvägen och Östermalm), parken (Galärparken och resten av Djurgården) samt till vattnet (Ladugårdsviken och Mälaren). Dessa tre stadselement är också starkt karaktäriserande för Stockholm som stad. Intentionen var dessutom att operabyggnaden skulle kunna erbjuda staden något mer än bara opera som konstform och att den ska vara inbjudande och tillgänglig både interiört och exteriört även för de som inte uppskattar operak

A variety of demands have to be considered in the design of a new opera house in Galärvarvet. All possible viewpoints are important to be aware of, as is the need for the new building to be a contrast to the already existing opera house in Stockholm. The restricted site also makes a multitude of demands on the building's design.
