Abstract:
Synopsis In an MBA capstone project course, a team of four mid-career, working professionals had assessed the feasibility of a new venture idea. All four were dog-lovers who had been frustrated by the ineffectiveness of the various dog training programs and products in which they had participated. Their idea was to utilize a novel technology to assist dog owners in the training process. After completing the course, the team met to determine whether SmartPooch was just an interesting idea—or alternatively was a sufficiently promising opportunity that one or more of them would continue to explore it. Research methodology The four students who are the case protagonists conducted both primary and secondary research. In addition, the case writer conducted additional secondary research and consulted with the four students during the development of the case study. Relevant courses and levels Introductory Entrepreneurship course at Master’s or Undergraduate levels Theoretical bases Frameworks from which feasibility analysis questions were derived include Mullins’ New Business Road Test and Osterwalder’s Business Model Canvas. The discussion of opportunity recognition starts with the definition of opportunity drawn from Hansen, D.J.; Shrader, R.; and Monllor, J. Abstract:

This phenomenological study explored the lived experiences of undergraduate community health nursing students at the University of the Western Cape
who conducted a family health assessment learning task in communities during their clinical fieldwork placement. The population included the 2008
semester two, third year undergraduate baccalaureus nursing students. These students completed their community health nursing modules at the end of the first semester. A total of nine (9) out of the eighty- nine (89) semester two students participated in this qualitative research study. The purposive and
convenient sample consisted of those students who agreed to voluntarily participate in the research study. In-depth interviews were conducted with seven
(7) female and two (2) male students to collect data. Field notes were taken and utilized to capture non-verbal communication of the participants. The focus
f the researcher was to explore the lived experiences of students and not that of the family whom they interviewed. All interviews were audio recorded
nd validated by participants after transcription, before any of the data was used for the data analysis process. The data collected was categorized into themes as guided by the systematic data analyses process according to Tesch&rsquo
s (1990) method, as cited in Creswell (2003). Saturation was tested
after nine interviews and the researcher found that no new data emerged. The importance of the research study was to reflect on the exploration of the
self-reported lived experiences of the third year community
ealth nursing students while conducting the family health assessment learning task.

Mead, Michael Phillip. "The Theory of Planned Behavior and Sleep Opportunity: An Ecological Momentary Assessment of Intra-Individual Variability." Diss., North Dakota State University, 2020. https://hdl.handle.net/10365/31927.

Abstract:
Insufficient sleep duration is associated with poor physical and mental health outcomes, and many Americans report that they are not meeting sleep duration recommendations. Many individuals choose to restrict their own sleep, yet little is known about the source of this sleep deficit. Recent research efforts have used the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to predict sleep health behavior. However, this research is limited in that it fails to measure volitional sleep behavior and focuses exclusively on between-person differences. This study addressed these limitations by using an intensive longitudinal design to test how constructs of the TPB relate to nightly sleep opportunity. Healthy college students (N=79) completed a week long study in which they completed 4 ecological momentary assessment signals per day that measured their attitudes, perceived norms, perceived behavioral control (PBC), and intentions relating to their nocturnal sleep opportunity. Participants wore an actiwatch each night of the study to measure their sleep opportunity. Analyses revealed between- and within-day variability of attitudes, perceived norms, PBC, and intentions. Further, there were significant between- and within-day trajectories of these constructs. Mixed linear models demonstrated that both intentions and PBC were significant predictors of subsequent sleep opportunity, and that PBC was the strongest predictor of future intentions. The between-and within-day patterns of these constructs highlight important considerations for their measurement, and provide insight into the potential refinement of sleep promotion efforts. Results also demonstrate that within-person changes in PBC and intentions predict subsequent sleep opportunity, demonstrating the need for a daily framework when using the TPB to predict sleep health behavior.

Abstract:
In!recent years, machine!learning has developed to the!extent that it can be utilized and implemented to create business value in organizations  by  either reducing costs or increasing  innovation and growth opportunities. Machine learning can unlock possibilities to create a better! product and experience, and thereby aid in gaining a stronger position in the industry. With millions of users traveling through their e2commerce platform, the case company of this thesis, a subscription based digital service company, has the potential tocreate an improved customer  experience using optimization and machine learning, generating business value and revenue. With limited resources and need for prioritization, understanding in which areas it would be most beneficial and generate most value to implement machine learning is critical. This thesis conducted an empirical study and thematic analysis based on semistructured interviews with machine learning engineers and managers at a subscription based digital service company to investigate how to assess when it is beneficial to utilize machine learning for optimization problems within an e2commerce organization. Impact, confidence, and effort were identified as suitable factors to assess the return on investment (ROI) of machine learning. In addition to this, three factors associated with machine learning were identified as required to have in place!or to consider in order to ensure a successful machine learning implementation. These three factors were data, business metrics (what to optimize), and discovery/research.

Barnard, Bret. "An analysis and assessment of the wine industry as a viable business opportunity for CHEP SA (Pty) Ltd." Thesis, Stellenbosch : Stellenbosch University, 2002. http://hdl.handle.net/10019.1/52655.

Abstract:
Thesis (MBA)--Stellenbosch University, 2002.
ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This study investigates the South African Wine industry as a viable market for CHEP SA (Pty) Ltd, using standardised pallet configurations, in the distribution of wine products. The study focuses on the global alcoholic beverage industry and how the South African wine industry is integrated within these markets. The global wine industry has experienced a decline in consumption since 1980, along with a number of changes in the way wine has been marketed. Means of marketing and consumption may vary from country to country, and remains a critical factor of consideration for CHEP SA. The results of the study indicates that in order for CHEP SA to successfully penetrate this market, CHEP SA will need to integrate themselves into the supply chain of the industry and to develop a better understanding of the global wine market. Results of interviews conducted and analysis of the industry indicates, that the market consists of a large number of producers in an industry, which is highly fragmented and uncoordinated. These producers and exporters are in the process of establishing a strategy, which will consolidate the industry and pursue the global wine industry. The identification of global export trends and markets in the alcoholic beverage industry, such as the gradual shift from European markets to North American and Asian markets provides CHEP SA with a clearer understanding of what future distribution and service requirements are needed. The importance of the retailer as well as branding in the wine industry has been identified as two critical factors which require more attention by market participants who wish to provide secondary products and services in the industry like CHEP SA.

Abstract:
In the recent context of student-centered learning, they are more involved in the whole learning process, while the teacher is only a guide through their learning. This implies that students must be also involved in the assessment process. Following this idea, the peer assessment tries to give the students the opportunity to be in the evaluator position and maybe experience a reflexion about the criteria, what an external person sees in what he/she has to assess. When students have the role of assessing their classmates work, they pay more attention to the content and formal details of the presentation; therefore they can easily identify key points involved in an academic dissertation. This is a good opportunity to actively learn some basic transversal skills for any kind of presentation. Under this context, we present in this paper a comparison of the marks given by both students and teachers, to the same academic dissertation. In addition, we provide the rubric provided to students as a guide for the assessment. As results show, the students’ final decision to assess their peers’ work is quite close to the teacher’s decision. Only light differences were identified, on average, students gave a slightly higher mark to their classmates than the teacher did. However, a correlation on students and teacher marks was found.
