In practice, the problem that inventory managers face directly to is the uncertainty of demand, which has been examined mostly in Economics Order Quantity models. Therefore, in this study we consider Economics Production Quantity models with and without backorders, using fuzzy numbers to deal with the uncertainty of demand. Although several studies have analyzed the interaction between the economics of production and process quality, most of them view quality from a very traditional perspective

Incorporating continuous both linear and exponential trend in unit cost at the mature stage of a product life cycle, we develop a mathematical inventory model for production policy and then present a recursive algorithm and a one-dimension search method to derive the optimal production schedule and number of production cycles. However, due to process deterioration or othere factors, the defective items are generated in the production process. In this study, the author proposes the modified EMQ model for determining the economic manufacturing quantity and process parameters. There are three modified models considered as follows: 1. the integrated model with X-bar control chart and EMQ; 2. the integrated model with process mean and EMQ; 3. the integrated model with EMQ and warranty

Also, radio frequency identification (RFID) is widely used to identify, trace, and track information during manufacturing processes. The traditional economic production quantity model assumes all products are of perfect quality, which is often not true. Partial backlogging is also common in today’s business. Dissertação de mestrado em Biomedical Engineering
Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), with their unique high specificity, are the most successful product of biopharmaceutical industry, with application in a number of diseases. Due to the high doses typically required, the industry is constantly pressured to develop processes of production that obtain high product yields at reduced costs. Many progresses have been made in this field, mainly due to the emergence of mammalian cell culture technology, and to developments on culture media, production systems, monitoring and scale-up techniques. Mestrado APNOR e Universidade de S. Petersburgo
Production and manufacturing setups involving lean solutions and customer driven “pull” logic (e.g. kanban systems) are more and more common. Usually, these systems allow companies to increase efficiency, quality levels, work force motivation and general productivity. Although these systems are not too difficult to plan and operate, in complex situations, even small adjustments can produce some unforeseen effects. In this scenario, discrete simulation can provide the tools to model the underlying systems and test the desired changes befo
