A frozen rotor approach in a steady calculation and a sliding mesh approach in an unsteady simulation are performed in a stator clocking investigation. The clocking is executed on the second stator in a two-stage axial turbine over several circumferential positions. Flow field distributions as well as the estimated performances from two approaches are compared with each other. The optimum clocking positions are predicted based on the estimated efficiency from the two approaches. The consistence of the optimum clocking positions is discussed in the paper. The main hindrance to the widespread of solar systems is the cost of the solar collectors. Researchers all over the world have been exploring different means of overcoming this limitation in order to make solar conversion more cost effective. Single axis tracking mode is employed together with sun seek sensor for automatic reset. The performance of the tracking collector compares favorably against a fixed collector.

A precise target positioning system based on a laser position sensor was developed for a high-efficiency wavelength dispersive PIXE analysis. The absolute position and the target surface profile were clearly observed using this position sensor, which was rigidly connected to the target vacuum chamber. By using a thin proton beam ( width = 2 mm ) and a small target (width = 1 mm), the optimum target position for the measurement of chlorine ( Cl ) Kβ X-ray could be determined from X-ray detection yields measured at various target positions. We found that the relationship between the X-ray detect

An approach of air-to-air autonomous attack occupation for Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAVs) is proposed to improve attack precision and combat effectiveness. According to the shortage of UCAV in the task of attack occupation, kinematic and dynamic models of UCAV and missile loaded on it are formed. Then, attack zone and no-escape zone are calculated by pattern search algorithm, and the optimum attack position is indicated. To arrive at the optimum attack position accurately with restriction of gesture, a novel adaptive sliding mode control method is suggested to design the integrated gu

In this paper, the optimum design and dynamic analysis of a new type of piezoelectric Braille display cell are studied by computer aided engineering software. At first, the design parameters of piezoelectric actuator are analyzed by finite element method to determine the position of fixed end and minimum voltage to actuate 0.7mm displacement and 15g output force. Then, the optimum design is performed according to the electric displacement 0.7mm, output force 15g, actuator length, position of fixed end and minimum voltage. Finally, Braille display cell is analyzed by dynamic simulation software

AbstractWhen performing diagnostic and surgical arthroscopic procedures on the shoulder, the importance of patient positioning cannot be understated. The optimum patient positioning for shoulder arthroscopy should enhance intraoperative joint visualization and surgical accessibility while minimizing potential perioperative risk to the patient. Most shoulder arthroscopy procedures can be reliably performed with the patient either in the lateral decubitus (LD) or beach chair (BC) position. Although patient positioning for shoulder arthroscopy has been subject of controversy, there is no conclusi

A method combined ant colony algorithm with particle swarm optimization algorithm was designed for solving multi-objective flexible job shop scheduling problem in this paper. In the combined algorithm the start position of ants was marked by particles optimum position obtained by particle swarm optimization algorithm. Then the traditional ant colony algorithm was improved and was used to search the global optimum scheduling. The combined algorithm was validated by practical instances. The results obtained have shown the proposed approach is feasible and effective for the multi-objective flexib

Measuring object 3D coordinates with optimum accuracy is one of the most important issues in close range photogrammetry. In this context, network design plays an important role in determination of optimum position of imaging stations. This is, however, not a trivial task due to various geometric and radiometric constraints affecting the quality of the measurement network. As a result, most camera stations in the network are defined on a try and error basis based on the user's experience and generic network concept. In this paper, we propose a post-processing task to investigate the quality of
