Abstract:
The Peng-Robinson-Stryjek-Vera (PRSV) equation of state (EOS) coupled with a modified two parameter van der Waals one-fluid mixing rule (MvdW1) and the Huron-Vidal-Orbey-Sandler mixing rule incorporating the NRTL equation as a GE model was used for the correlation of excess enthalpy (HE), excess heat capacity (CpE) and the simultaneous correlation of both properties. All calculations with temperature dependent parameters of EOS models were applied to 1,3-dioxolane+n-alkane systems. The correlation of the H E and Cp E data alone with four coefficients and the HE+CpE data with six coefficients of the temperature dependent parameters of the HVOS-NRTL models could be considered as very satisfactory.

Abstract:
In this work the Peng-Robinson-Stryjek-Vera (PRSV) equation of state coupled with the Huron-Vidal-Orbey-Sandler (HVOS) rule was tested for the correlation of the excess enthalpy (HE) and the excess heat capacity (cp E) alone and simultaneously. The HVOS mixing rule incorporates the NRTL equation as the GE model. All calculations were performed using the linear and reciprocal forms of the temperature dependent parameters of the models. For all the evaluations the 1,4-dioxane+n-alkane systems were chosen having in mind the unusually W-shaped concentration dependence of cp E for these systems. The correlation of the HE and cp E data alone for all the investigated systems using four coefficients and for the simultaneous correlation of HE+cp E data using six coefficients of the temperature dependent parameters of the PRSV-HVOS models could be considered as being very satisfactory.

Full text
Abstract:
Background: Midline brain lesions, such as falx meningioma, arteriovenous malformations, and cavernous malformations, are usually approached from the ipsilateral interhemispheric fissure. To this end, patients are positioned laterally with the ipsilateral side up. However, some studies have reported the usefulness of gravity-assisted brain retraction surgery, in which patients are placed laterally with the ipsilateral side down or up, enabling surgeons to approach the lesions through the ipsilateral side or through a contralateral interhemispheric fissure, respectively. This surgery requires less brain retraction. However, when using an operative microscope, performing this surgery requires the surgeon to operate in an awkward position. A recently developed high-definition (4K-HD) 3-D exoscope system, ORBEYE, can improve the surgeon’s posture while performing gravity-assisted brain retraction surgery. Methods: We report five cases with midline brain tumors managed by resectioning with gravity-assisted brain retraction surgery using ORBEYE. We also performed an ergonomic analysis of gravity-assisted brain retraction surgery with a craniotomy model and a neuronavigation system. Results: Gravity-assisted brain retraction surgery to the midline brain tumors was successfully performed for all five patients, using ORBEYE, without any postoperative neurological deficit. Conclusion: Gravity-assisted brain retraction surgery to the midline brain lesions using ORBEYE is feasible, and ORBEYE is ergonomically more favorable than a microscope. ORBEYE has the potential to generalize neurosurgical approaches considered difficult due to the surgeon’s awkward position, such as gravity-assisted brain retraction surgery.

Abstract:
The purpose of these studies is to assess the adaptive resistance of the apple tree to winter stresses in terms of physiological and biochemical parameters, to identify the most resistant varieties for cultivation in the Krasnodar region. Objects of research are apple varieties of various origins: Orfey, Idared, Ligol, Prikubanskoe. It was found that the cryoprotective function of water-soluble sugars was maximally manifested in the varieties Orfey and Ligol, their content increased by 2.56 and 2.7 times, respectively. Soluble proteins made the greatest contribution to the formation of a protective response in Orfey and Prikubanskoye varieties in January, their content increased 1.8 and 1.9 times, respectively, compared to December. The protective function of anthocyanins was maximally manifested in December in the Orfey variety, in the bark of which their content increased by 5.6 times. Physiological and biochemical adaptation of apple varieties to low negative temperatures of the winter period is achieved by increasing the content of water-soluble sugars, proteins in anthocyanins in the bark and buds. According to the obtained data, the apple varieties Orfey and Prikubanskoye showed themselves to be more adaptive in comparison with other studied varieties and are recommended for cultivation in the Krasnodar region.

Abstract:
Abstract. The article provides information on the yield of green mass, dry matter, nutritional value, as well as the yield of seeds of promising numbers of meadow clover in a competitive variety test. The purpose of research on the combination of economically valuable characteristics (dry matter yield, dry matter yield) is to identify promising cultivars of single-grained diploid meadow clover in nurseries of competitive variety testing for further work and transfer of promising material to breeding nurseries. Research methodology and methods. The material for the study was 14 cultivars of meadow clover, self-selected, obtained by hybridization and polycross, standard is Orion. In the nursery of the competitive variety testing (sowing 2018), the productivity was evaluated during spring sowing, under the cover of spring wheat. The accounting area of the plot is 100 m2, when evaluating the numbers for feed productivity, the repetition is fourfold. Observations and records were carried out according to the generally accepted methodology. Meteorological conditions in 2018–2020 varied significantly from the long-term average. Results. The yield of green mass for two years was 51.35–63.3 t/ha. The numbers significantly exceeded the standard: Ogonek × Ermak (7) – by 7 %, Orfey – 10.5 %, Oniks – 11.4 %, Vitebchanin × Orfey (5) – by 10.7 %. The collection of dry matter for two seasons was 10.93–13.95 t/ha. The numbers were highlighted: Ogonek × Ermak (7) – 13.7 %, Orfey – 15.3, Oniks – 8.5, Vitebchanin × Orfey (5) – 9.8 and 143-98 – 10.8 %. The seed yield in 2019 was 92–176. 6 kg/ha. The protein content for the season was 14.20–17.52 % in 2019, and 12.89–16.60 % in 2020. The average protein harvest for two years was 1593–2196 kg/ha. The highest indicator was provided by the following numbers: Ogonek × Ermak (7) – 2135 kg/ha (+15.8 % to st.), Orfey – 1960 kg/ha (+6.3 %), 143-98 – 1958 kg/ha (+6.2 %), Oniks – 2054 kg/ha (+11.4 %) and Vitebchanin × Orfey (5) – 2196 kg/ha (+19.2 %). Scientific novelty. As a result of the conducted research, promising cultivars were identified, which will be included in the further selection study.

Abstract:
Abstract Background In previous reports on experiences with an exoscope, this new technology was not found to be applicable for transsphenoidal pituitary surgery. As a specialized center for pituitary surgery, we were using a 4K 3D video microscope (Orbeye, Olympus) to evaluate the system for its use in transsphenoidal pituitary surgery in comparison to conventional microscopy. Method We report on 296 cases performed with the Orbeye at a single institution. An observational study was conducted with standardized subjective evaluation by the surgeons after each procedure. An objective measurement was added to compare the exoscopic and microscopic methods, involving surgery time and the initial postoperative remission rate in matched cohorts. Results The patients presented with a wide range of pathologies. No serious events or minor complications occurred based on the usage of the 4K 3D exoscope. There was no need for switching back to the microscope in any of the cases. Compared to our microsurgically operated collective, there was no significant difference regarding duration of surgery, complications, or extent of resection. The surgeons rated the Orbeye beneficial in regard to instrument size, positioning, surgeon’s ergonomics, learning curve, image resolution, and high magnification. Conclusions The Orbeye exoscope presents with optical and digital zoom options as well as a 4K image resolution and 3D visualization resulting in better depth perception and flexibility in comparison to the microscope. Split screen mode offers the complementary benefit of the endoscope which may increase the possibilities of lateral view but has to be evaluated in comparison to endoscopic transsphenoidal procedures in the next step.

Abstract:
Abstract Background The introduction of exoscopes in neurosurgery has been welcomed due to their maneuverability, ergonomics, and low-profile frame. 3D devices have further enabled a better stereoscopic visualization. Reports on their application, albeit more and more frequent, are still at their beginning stages. We present our experience with the Olympus ORBEYE 4K-3D exoscope for major cranial procedures. The strengths and weaknesses of the exoscope are presented, and the nuances associated with the learning curve are illustrated. Methods Over 2 weeks, patients undergoing surgery for major cranial pathologies were offered to participate in this evaluation of the Olympus ORBEYE 4K-3D exoscope. Information on the use of the exoscope was collected to assess the features and struggles in the learning curve. A comparison with the operating microscope was made. Results Fourteen patients with different intracranial pathologies were operated on with the exoscope. No surgery-related complications occurred. The microsurgical part was performed with the exoscope in six cases. The exoscope was used for 72.9% (±37.5%) of the whole microsurgical time vs. 27.1% (±37.5%) microscope time (p = 0.02). Conclusion The Olympus ORBEYE 4K-3D exoscope represents a useful evolution of the operating microscope. It requires time to overcome potential difficulties, mostly related to previous motor schemes acquired with operating microscopes. Its features could represent the basis for a paradigm shift in microsurgery.

This article compares More’s Utopia to Peter Martyr’s De Orbe Novo and to its plagiarized version Paesi nouamente ritrouati…. The point is made in this article of the fact that, given the number of editions and translations, including Latin and French, of Paesi between 1507 and 1516, More might have had the opportunity to read it. The new philosophy of De Orbe Novo shows several points of contact with the Northern European Humanists. They differed with the Italian traditional humanists in the method and the language. They were in favor of new ideas and a new language, in order to explain a new reality.

Abstract:
Veamos.
