Thalla, Satish. "Web Movements and Organic Intellectuals:." Doctoral thesis, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, 2019. http://dx.doi.org/10.18452/20546.
Full textA new kind of social movements are not only introducing individuals from within the masses to new political and social topics, and raising their interest and activity in political education and participation, but also enabling their ability to learn, discuss, deliberate, share, and organize themselves for making the political institutions of the society to work for their interests. This hypothesis was formulated in order to aid the process of finding an answer to the research question: how are digital technologies helping in the development process of organic intellectuals? Based on the concepts presented by Manuel Castells and Antonio Gramsci, a qualitative analysis of the responses collected in four countries across four different continents using semi-structured interviews presented the evidence used to validate the above hypothesis. The research also examines couple of main aspects of the online environment in relation to a global web movement. One is relating to the major criticisms of online political participation such as 'Digital Divide', 'Clicktivism', and 'Simplification', while the second is relating to the dilution of the concept of 'Sovereignty'. The gathered data allows this research to argue against the criticisms, and problematize the concept of national sovereignty. This research questions the general assumption that a global action in support of local issues is based on solidarity, and presents a different perspective focused on the right to demand action based on an identification of global citizenship.

This training takes a prospect of constitution of SelfEducation of the working class that allows its consolidation as a revolutionary movement to human liberation. The daily practice and historical and social conditions are fundamental to the production of existence, including the subject of this study, and constitute educational practices that articulated to the Non School Education contribute to the formation of social beings which in the production of its own existence, through labor and social struggles, perceive themselves able to modify the society according to their class interests. We based the analysis in studies of Marx, Engels, Gramsci, Mészáros, Lukács, Alves, Manacorda and Freire and in the concept of Human Formation as an education that can encompass the entirety of the subject and to assist them in understanding their social being as essential to emancipation. This work is a case study in which we use various instruments that helped in the elucidation of the research problem. The use of the dialectical method allows the analysis of the problem from the point of view of totality and the contradictory relationship in the design training process of the Central, analyzing interviews and observing training processes. As evidence resulting from this research, we can manly indicate: 1. The predisposition of CTB to constitute itself as an educational space that contributes to the rise of class consciousness; 2. The training process of CTB enables the Formation of Organic Intellectuals, with identity with the movement from which is originated; 3 The formation of CTB is a dialectical relationship between limits and possibilities that can advance the perspective of SelfEducation class, since articulated the struggle against capital and for the Human Emancipation. This essay contributes to the movement of workers develop educational practices with a greater connection with their base, and to assist in the reduction of Trade Union Movement bureaucracy.

The main objective of this research is the study of a group of Chilean economists trained at the School of Economics at the University of Chicago, during the decades of 1950-1960. The analysis of this group, popularly called the Chicago Boys and politically known as the "Chile Project" demonstrates to us the final plot of a deeper and broader process of social transformation. The outbreak of the passive revolution in Chile in 1927, opens a pretext to new political groups to emerge, and thus, compete in the institutional space and for hegemony with the already existing ones. The long cycle of passive revolution in Chile lasted until the second half of the 1970s, when the implementation of neoliberal proposals for fiscal adjustment and unrestricted freedom to capital and market took place. The connection between these two processes is latent: the broader one meets its final link in the concretion the more "restricted" one, ie the new surpasses the brand new and buries the old as the Chicago Boys can forge a new level of consensus on the Chilean bourgeoisie.

Taking into account one of the most intriguing reflections prompted by the Italian Marxist Antonio Gramsci, regarding the organic intellectual, this thesis questions if the teacher proletarianisation is associated with middle class organic intellectuals and focuses on how teachers react to the idea of picturing themselves as middle class intellectuals. Based on teachers’ ideological concepts, emerging from their working conditions and their presence in unions, the research gains ground with Gramsci’s concepts, from the perspective of a number of authors, namely Jean-Marc Piotte (1972), Hugues Portelli (1977), Christinne Buci-Glucksmann (1980), apart from some discussions related to the middle class, merited by Decio Saes (1977; 1980; 1984). The research sheds light on Gramscian concepts which pave the way for the teacher seen as an organic intellectual. It also highlights a study about the Brazilian middle-class formation in order to outline the teacher within the frame of a class, through documental analysis and interviews with union leaders. In the light of the present research, it is not viable to identify the teacher as a labor class organic intellectual, given the middle class ideological concepts underlying teachers’ social background
