Introduction. Cadmium is a toxic heavy metal with devastating effects on most organ systems. After absorption, cadmium is transported throughout the body, primarily by binding to proteins by metallothioneins. It is believed that the mechanisms of cadmium-induced transformation arise due to the disruption of zinc-dependent cellular processes. This part is due to the structural and physical similarities between zinc and cadmium. More than half of the incoming cadmium is deposited in the liver and kidneys. The rest part is distributed throughout other organs and their systems. Materials and metho

Abstract:
Abstract Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) produces an acidic fluid that is corrosive to equipment, tubulars, and facilities generating what is called "sour corrosion". One viable option to handle this gas in processing facilities is to use H2S scavengers. The main objective of this study is to evaluate six different H2S scavengers aiming to reduce the effect of H2S gas in crude oil feeds without jeopardizing the corrosion inhibitor performance that used in Gas Oil Separation Plant (GOSP). The tested scavengers were derived from different chemical families. Some of the active compounds of these scavenger

Abstract:
Biological methods of nanoparticle synthesis are environmentally friendly, as well as simple, fast, and cost-effective. Among the various biological systems that can be used for the biosynthesis of nanoparticles, yeast of the genus Saccharomyces has several advantages, since these microorganisms and their metabolites are completely safe for humans, animals, and the environment. In addition, yeast synthesize a large number of biologically active compounds (proteins, enzymes, amino acids, organic acids, vitamins), which can participate in the biosynthesis and stabilization of nanoparticles. This project summarizes the results from 2000–2020and evaluates the trueness andthequality control (QC) procedures of the ongoing polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH)and trace element measurements in Finlandrelating to Air Quality (AQ) Directive 2004/107/EC. The evaluation was focused on benzo(a)pyrene and other PAH compounds as well as arsenic, cadmium and nickel in PM10and deposition. Additionally, it included lead and other metals in PM10and deposition, gaseous mercury and mercury deposition, andbriefly other specificAQ measurements such as volatile organic compounds (VOC)and PM2.5chemical
