Abstract:
A list of identified oribatid ptyctimous mites from the Philippine Islands Luzon, Mindanao, Polillo and Samar Islands, including 16 species, 10 genera and 5 families, is provided. The genus Mesotritia and species Atropacarus (Atropacarus) griseus (Niedbała, 1984), A. (Atropacarus) striculus (C. L. Koch, 1835) and A. (Hoplophorella) stilifer (Hammer, 1961) are recorded for the Philippine fauna for the first time. Two new species, Mesotritia paraflagelliformis Niedbała sp. nov. (Oribotritiidae) and Plonaphacarus leonilae Niedbała sp. nov. (Steganacaridae), are described from leaf litter. The supplementary descriptions of Oribotritia aokii Mahunka, 1987 and Hoplophthiracarus illinoisensis (Ewing, 1909) are presented based on the materials from the Philippines.

Abstract:
A list of identified ptyctimous mites (Acari, Oribatida) from Mexico and Peru, including 12 species from seven genera and five families, is presented. Of these taxa, two species are new for science, and Protophthiracarus baloghi and Atropacarus (Hoplophorella) brachys are recorded in the Mexican fauna for the first time. Mesotritia cozumelensis Niedbała sp. nov. (Oribotritiidae) differs from congeners by a combination of the following characters: two pairs of parallel lateral carinae on the prodorsum; rostral setae situated between interlamellar and lamellar setae, but nearer to lamellar setae; very long exobothridial setae, five pairs of genital setae; two pairs of anal and three pairs of adanal setae; setae ad1 very long; equal distance between adanal setae. Arphthicarus simplex Niedbała sp. nov. (Steganacaridae) is distinguishable from congeners by the long line in extension of the sinus and by the distally curved rostral setae.

Abstract:
Two new species of oribatid mites, Temburongia similanensis sp. nov. (Synichotritiidae) and Austrophthiracarus trapezoides sp. nov. (Phthiracaridae), are described based on adult specimens from leaf litter on Similan Islands, Thailand. Temburongia similanensis sp. nov. differs from T. patoi Mahunka, 1990 in having simple prodorsal and notogastral setae, one pair of median prodorsal cristae, two pairs of exobothridial setae, two longitudinal rows of ano-adanal setae, coxal setation of 3-1-2-3, tridactylous legs, and, more unusually, clusters of bothridial brachytrachea which are unknown in other synichotritiid mites. Austrophthiracarus trapezoides sp. nov. can be distinguished from the similar species A. pseudotuberculatus Mahunka, 2008 by the presence of a large trapezoid prodorsal tubercle and longer notogastral setae (seta c 1 reaching d 1 ). A checklist of Thai Euptyctima, including 19 species in four families (Oribotritiidae, Euphthiracaridae, Synichotritiidae, and Phthiracaridae), their synonyms and distributional data are presented. Plonaphacarus semiaciculatus (Mahunka, 2008) comb. nov. is proposed as a new combination for Rhacaplacarus semiaciculatus Mahunka, 2008.

Full text
Abstract:
The ptyctimous oribatid species, Austrotritia finlandica Niedbala & Penttinen, 2006, was described in Finland as the single representative of the genus in Europe. The main area of distribution of the Gondwanan genus Austrotritia covers the Oriental, Australian and southeastern Palaearctic Regions. In order to describe the more exact distribution and habitat of A. finlandica, more localities were studied in 2008–-2012. Four hundred soil samples were studied from the southwestern archipelago and the islets along the Finnish coast of the Baltic Sea, and sixty tree hollows on an island. The number of records of the species increased from four to thirteen. Most of the islets where it was found were characterized by their small size (less than 1 km2) and remote location. It is concluded that a small but permanent population of Austrotritia finlandica lives in a limited area in the SW archipelago of Finland.
