Abstract:
This study explores perceptions of Chinese texts by Western audiences while looking into the interrelation between film and literature. This is done by two means: firstly, through a detailed discussion of film adaptations with the focus on Chinese cinema, and secondly, through a practical demonstration of a filmic style in prose fiction in the form of an original book-length piece of fiction. Using Bakhtin’s ‘dialogism’ as the point of departure, the research on adaptations adopts an intertextual approach of adaptation theory as developed by Robert Stam, looking into the intertextual relations

The discourses of ‘Western democracy’ and ‘Oriental despotism’ provide for us a lens through which to view both contemporary political developments and the ideological and historical context in which they occur. Abstract:
This study examined staff and leadership's attitudes to their work organisation and its environment, and, in particular, the extent to which they preferred a human or task orientation. The study then defined and measured the 'academic culture' of the institution and explored the different effects of emphasising human or task orientations on this academic culture. Finally, the relationship between academic culture and student satisfaction within the institution was explored in the research. The measure of academic culture encompassed 3 domains - planning, the way of doing things, and relationsh

Abstract:
Mental health reflects an array of causal influences that span biological, psychological, and social circumstances, with resultant underlying causal pathways to poor mental health outcomes in childhood that are complex. Key features of this complexity are reciprocal interactions between person and environment that take place over time. The core of this thesis seeks to attend to the complexity of development to move the field of developmental health forward toward greater explanation, and more successful prediction and prevention. The focal point of the thesis is the psychosocial determinants o

Abstract:
At present, there is an emerging need to expedite web application development and to accommodate the constant evolution of web applications due to evolving business dynamics. This can be reflected by an increasing number of contemporary Web Application Frameworks with Object Relational Mapping (ORM) support and Model-Driven Development tools with powerful model to- code generation capabilities. While business objects today can be generated from detailed, concrete UML Class diagrams, there is still a mismatch between these current technologies and the essential support for high-level modelling

<p> This study researched the impact of leadership style on leading organizational change in the local church.
