Abstract:
Theoretical analysis and experiment study on the pose error compensations of parallel mechanisms have been presented. A method for error compensations by means of differential operators and electro-optical collimation system is discussed. Compensation quantities oriented to main error sources from position coordinates of joints on the movable platform can be obtained through mathematic models. Compensation quantities provided by driving legs can be realized precisely by linear calibration techniques. Orientation angles can be measured by means of electro-optical collimation system and a three-dimension turning table, which is centrally positioned and can complete multi-direction inverse adjusting. Numerical example relevant to Stewart platform has been given. Simulation and experiment results indicate the feasibility of the method.

Abstract:
Purpose While metrics are becoming increasingly important for marketing’s relevance, there is also a need to understand how they, as enablers of learning, affect marketing’s adaptive capabilities that ensure its long-term success. Therefore, this study aims to test the association of marketing and financial metrics use and the metric-based orientations of training and compensation, with two key marketing routines – exploitation, i.e. the perfecting of existing activities while allowing for incremental adaptations and exploration or experimentation accompanied by radical adaptation. Design/methodology/approach The study gathers data from 205 managers and uses partial least squares structural equation modeling to test the hypothesized relationships. Findings Marketing metrics encourage both forms of marketing adaptation. Financial metrics use discourages exploration. Market orientation and long-term orientation strengthen (weaken) the positive (negative) relationship between marketing (financial) metrics use and marketing exploration. Metric-based training is more positively associated with both adaptive capabilities than a metric-based compensation orientation, albeit weakly. Research limitations/implications The study’s central proposition – that different metrics or metric orientations are associated with distinct types of knowledge, interpretations, mindsets, motivations and cultural contexts – provides a deeper theoretical understanding of the pathways by which a metric emphasis affects marketing adaptation. Practical implications Marketing managers should emphasize marketing metrics and training more than compensation, to promote marketing exploitation/exploration, while exercising caution in overstressing financial metrics given their negative association with exploration. This latter negative relationship can be weakened (as can the positive one between marketing metrics and exploration be strengthened) with increased market orientation and long-term orientation. Originality/value This study addresses the research gap regarding the relationship between metrics as a configurational element of marketing organization and marketing adaptation.

Abstract:
Abstract Contrary to previous literature we hypothesize that labor’s interest may well—like that of shareholders—aim at securing the long-run survival of the firm. Consequently, employee representatives on the supervisory board could well have an interest in increasing incentive-based compensation to avoid management’s excessive risk taking and short-run oriented decisions. We compile unique panel data on executive compensation over the periods 2006–2011 for 405 listed companies and use a Hausman–Taylor approach to estimate the effect of codetermination on the compensation design. Finally, codetermination has a significantly positive effect on performance-based components of compensation, which supports our hypothesis. (JEL codes: J52, L20, G32, M12, C33)

Abstract:
This paper presents a 3D tool radius compensation for five- axis peripheral milling in CNC systems. Using a generalized kinematics model of five- axis machines and uniform algorithm, it is possible to calculate the complete analytical equations for the tool orientation relative to part. The tool orientation relative to part selecting as Z-axis is used to establish compensation coordinate system. The points in the machine coordinate system are converted to the compensation coordinate system. The compensation points in the compensation coordinate system using these points can be calculated. This computation procedure is similar to the calculation of cutter compensation C. The compensation points in machine coordinate system can be obtained by converting the compensation points in the compensation coordinate system to machine coordinate system. The presented methodology was used in the CNC system, which makes the CNC system more efficiently and systematically

Abstract:
Using a real-life case of intergroup victimization (i.e., victimization of migrant workers in Korea), we tested our hypothesis that positive attitudes toward compensating a victimized outgroup and intention to participate in ingroup corrective actions would be facilitated when a prosocial orientation is combined with high levels of perceived self-uniqueness. In Study 1, we measured participants’ social value orientation and their self-attributed need for uniqueness as our independent variables ( N = 249) and found a predicted interaction effect, such that prosocials with high levels of perceived self-uniqueness were more likely to support outgroup compensation and more willing to engage in ingroup corrective actions than were prosocials with low levels of self-uniqueness. In contrast, for proselfs neither compensation nor intention to participate in ingroup correction varied as a function of self-uniqueness. We replicated these findings in Study 2 ( N = 106), in which we measured participants’ trait agreeableness as an index of prosocial orientation and manipulated self-uniqueness via priming. Implications of our findings for research on outgroup reparation and future directions are discussed.

Abstract:
Augmented reality (AR) systems are often used to superimpose virtual objects or information on a scene to improve situational awareness. Delays in the display system or inaccurate registration of objects destroy the sense of immersion a user experiences when using AR systems. AC electromagnetic trackers are ideally for these applications when combined with head orientation prediction to compensate for display system delays. Unfortunately, these trackers do not perform well in environments that contain conductive or ferrous materials due to magnetic field distortion without expensive calibration techniques. In our work we focus on both the prediction and distortion compensation aspects of this application, developing a “small footprint” predictive filter for display lag compensation and a simplified calibration system for AC magnetic trackers. In the first phase of our study we presented a novel method of tracking angular head velocity from quaternion orientation using an Extended Kalman Filter in both single model (DQEKF) and multiple model (MMDQ) implementations. In the second phase of our work we have developed a new method of mapping the magnetic field generated by the tracker without high precision measurement equipment. This method uses simple fixtures with multiple sensors in a rigid geometry to collect magnetic field data in the tracking volume. We have developed a new algorithm to process the collected data and generate a map of the magnetic field distortion that can be used to compensation distorted measurement data.

The diploma thesis deals with an orientation mechanism of industrial robots for mounting of pivots and screws into the mounting holes. In the first phase there is a research of inventions mainly realized in the United States Patent and Trademark Office database. Subsequently the conditions of the assembly are solved. On the base of the conditions the functional requirements are described. The diploma thesis includes seven conceptual variants, which are proposed as a 3D design. Using the basical multi-criteria method the best conceptual variant is specified. That is specified due to the accepted criterias. In the next part of the diploma thesis there is a calculation, that comprises this technically and economically most promising conceptual variant. The calculation consists of a statics, a kinematics and a dynamics of the propel, a stenght control of the mechanism and kinematics analysis of the whole mechanism. Results of the calculation are used by the detailed design of orientation mechanism, that also comprises technological production theory and a correct assembly. Economical analysis, which comprises cost of produce of this newly developed automation equipment, is worked up in the conclusion of the diploma thesis. The diploma thesis also comprises drawings. The variant solves a new conception, which can be patented as an utility model.

Abstract:
This thesis is based on a collection of articles. The subject is about the transitions to employment of young people living with capacity limitations who, having applied for and obtained facilitations during their university studies, have been recognized as "students with disabilities". The sociological analysis focuses on the stakes, during this period, related to the use of the Recognition of the Quality of Handicapped Worker (RQTH): what happens when it comes to choosing whether or not to check this "box" in the "application form" of the Departmental House of Disabled Persons (MDPH)? This research mobilizes data of various kinds (secondary exploitation of a statistical survey, interviews and ad hoc national survey) collected in successive stages. The forms of (non-)use of the RQTH during these transitions to employment seem to offer a fresh perspective on the influences of disability compensation public policies on the trajectories and subjectivities of individuals. The aim was to conduct a "reception of disability policies" sociology (Revillard, 2017) and to understand its effects on the "relationships to working life" (Longo, 2011). How do the professional possibilities and compensatory possibilities articulate themselves? Based on ideal type reasoning, we developed four "navigator" profiles. We use the nautical metaphor to represent individuals in front of their professional perspectives. Our results, first of all, support the idea of the unequal nature of the public policies concerned with disability compensation, which require identity prerequisites that are diverse in the study population. Secondly, there is a paradox here, since policies ultimately seem to get more significant "grips" to individuals who do not recognize themselves in the latter. Finally, we consider that there is a mismatch between the intent of disability policies and the perceptions of disability held by some young people living with capacity limitations

Abstract:

This study integrates the upper echelon theory, the resourced-based view, and the strategic human resource management (SHRM) perspective to examine the associations between TMT long-term compensation, firm long-term orientation, and human resource investment. The moderating roles of firm strategic orientation and firm slack on the relationship between firm long-term orientation, and human resource investment are explored as well. Research results based on a large sample of 226 TMTs collected from Taiwan companies listed in the stock exchange revealed that firm long-term orientation plays a partial mediating role in the relationship between TMT long-term compensation and firm human resource investment. Moreover, instead of acting as a moderator, strategic orientation produces a direct effect on firm human resource investment. This study contributes to the upper echelon theory, the resourced-based view, and the SHRM perspective by an examination of the effects of TMT practices on firm strategic considerations and then human resource practices within the context of firm strategy and resources. Research implications and future directions are discussed.

Abstract:
Organisations, including hotels, usually have more than one human resource practices system. Thus, this book is written to provide an understanding of the human resource practice system for managerial and non-managerial employees in the context of hotel industry. This book focuses specifically on five-star beach resort hotels in Malaysia. The human resource practices system for managerial employees includes empowerment while the recruitment and selection is more thorough. Their compensation is more attractive and their training is more rewarding. Both groups of employees are provided with a clear job description, orientation, employment security, objective performance appraisal, career development opportunity and effective communication.

Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the applicability of Orientation Criteria of the Croatian Supreme Court from 2002. on determining compensation for non-pecuniary damage by the Law on Obligations from 2005. When Law on Obligations (2005) came into force, it essentially changed the system of compensation for non-pecuniary damage in such a way that, instead of the subjective concept of non-pecuniary damage, it introduced an objective concept of non-pecuniary damage.Attention is given to the basic problems in defining nonpecuniary damage and the recognition of the right to monetary compensation in personal injuries cases.

Abstract:
Retaining talent is one of the most important issues that HR Managers must address. This chapter discusses the retention practices model applied by IT. In accordance with the model developed by Julia Naggiar in 2001, it analyses six best practices: orientation, training, career development, motivation, compensation, feedback, and evaluation. Additionally, because of their importance, it also deals with turnover rate implications. To find the best retention practices for IT professionals, these variables have been evaluated in an investigation carried out with Latin-American IT professionals and HR Managers to find out which practices IT professionals consider paramount in retaining talent.
