The current literature about the modalities of organizations that deal with the solidarity economy tends to affirm an alternative attitude of the new solidarity experiences of the selfmanagement and cooperation given the opening that fall into the capitalist relations of production. In Brazil, the culture of cooperation is observed since the era of Portuguese colonization. This process emerged in the Brazilian Cooperative Movement came out of in the late 19th century, incited by civil servants, militaries, personnel professionals and workers, to serve their needs. They would represent the manifestation of a new method of the work organization and economic activities in general. The city of Sinop/MT where this research was carried out, today focuses a large volume of business related to the husbandry and each day more is growing according to increase of the population. There are many cattlemen who assure the economics of the agribusiness in the town. Then, we formulate the question about how occurred the trajectory of the milk producer in the municipality, whose this, is inserted into an organization that before was associative and now is converted into a cooperative, in search of better production and commercialization. This, the work intended to discuss this topic showing data from an exploratory qualitative research carried out in the Cooperativa Agrícola Selene Cooperselene-located in the rural area on Selene Road, town of Sinop/MT in the period of October, 2010 to March, 2011. In the results of this research we see the strengthening of security of the milk producer with to the delivery and sale of his product in the entrepreneurial organization. The data shows that labor relations have improved when cooperative members departed from the individual to the collective work, as well as growth prospects and insertion of the new products which are part of the internal politics of the group. Despite of all the advances, we realized that there are lot of things to be still done with regard to work about cooperativism and associativism. The complex access to availability of financial resources and subsidies of the government still is present and is the cause for complaint of current cooperative members. However it is known that the process is gradual, but can be achieved always seeking the strengthening and improvements to the collective in this model of organization.
A literatura atual sobre as modalidades de organizações que lidam com a chamada economia solidária tende em afirmar uma atitude alternativa das novas experiências solidárias de autogestão e cooperação, dada a abertura que inserem nas relações de produção capitalista. No Brasil, a cultura da cooperação é observada desde a época da colonização portuguesa. Esse processo emergiu no Movimento Cooperativista Brasileiro surgido no final do século XIX, incitado por funcionários públicos, militares, profissionais liberais e operários, para atender às suas necessidades. A cidade de Sinop/MT onde esta pesquisa foi realizada concentra hoje um grande volume de negócios relacionados ao ramo da pecuária e a cada dia vem crescendo mais com o aumento da população. Muitos são os pecuaristas ali existentes e estes asseguram a economia do agronegócio de grande e pequeno porte no município. Formulamos então a questão de como ocorreu a trajetória do produtor de leite no município, ao estar inserido em uma organização antes associativa e agora transformada em cooperativa, na busca da comercialização e produção melhores. Assim, a Dissertação objetivou discutir este tema apresentando dados de uma pesquisa de forma qualitativa e exploratória realizada na Cooperativa Agrícola Selene Cooperselene - localizada na Estrada Selene, área rural do município de Sinop/MT no período de outubro de 2010 a março de 2011. Nos resultados desta pesquisa verificamos o fortalecimento e segurança do produtor de leite com relação à entrega e venda de seu produto na organização cooperativada. Os dados demonstram que as relações de trabalho melhoraram quando os cooperados partiram do trabalho individual para o trabalho coletivo, assim como as perspectivas de crescimento e inserção de novos produtos faz parte da política interna do grupo. Apesar de todos os avanços, percebemos que muito ainda tem a ser feito quando se trata de trabalhos sobre cooperativismo e associativismo. O complexo acesso às disponibilidades de recursos financeiros e subsídios do poder público ainda se faz presente e é motivo de reclamação dos atuais cooperados. No entanto, observa-se que o processo é gradativo, mas pode ser atingido buscando sempre o fortalecimento e melhorias para o coletivo neste modelo de organização.

Teorinėje dalyje nagrinėjami veiksniai lemiantys veiklos organizavimo ypatumus organizacijoje, bei organizavimo procesą veikiančių veiksnių charakteristika.Nustatant starteginės plėtros organizavimo kokykybę buvo atliktas anketinis tyrimas, kurio metu buvo nustatytas "Tarptautinio Palangos oro uosto" darbuotojų nuomonė apie strateginį organizacijos veiklos organizavimo valdymo lygį. Tyrimo eigoje nustatytas būtinumas efektyvinti strateginio planavimo procesus, kurie leistų didinti darbuotojų naudą organizacijai. Taip pat nustatytas naujų technologijų diegimo poreikis, kuris gerintų darbuotojų veiklos procesų organizavimą. Projektinėje dalyje suformuluoti strateginiai tikslai organizacijos efektyvumui didinti, rekomeduojamos, naujos verslo valdymo sistemos, pristatymas.
The aim of the thesis was to formulate State Enterprise (Lith. "VĮ") "Tarptautinis Palangos oro uostas" (Engl. "International Palanga Airport") development strategy. The theoretical part analyzes characteristics of activity planning in an organization and characteristics of factors which affect organizational process. To determine strategic development quality questionnaire survey was conducted. During it employees' opinion about strategic management level of the organization of the airport was determined. During the research a need to increase efficiency of strategic planning processes, which could allow to increase employees' benefits for the organization, was identified. Also, a need to install new technologies, which could improve performance of process organization of employees' activity, was determined. In the project part, strategic objectives for efficiency growth were formulated and recommendations for new business management system were presented.

ENGLISH ABSTRACT: Management make use of e-mail as a tool to enable them to do their daily tasks. E-mail is used as one of the best communication channels by management. Sishen Mine also makes use of e-mail as communication channel. The question however is whether e-mail has a positive or negative impact on management effectiveness. The history of e-mail as well as the reasons for e-mail use have been investigated. The different areas of use of email were discussed. Additional to this, the positive effects experienced by the individual as well as companies when using e-mail were highlighted and discussed. Unfortunately e-mail also has negative influences on the individual and the company and these were also highlighted and discussed. Data was obtained from the Sishen e-mail application in order to analyse the use of e-mail by the employees. The key insight from the e-mail application data was that a small group of employees send and receive the majority of e-mail at Sishen. A survey was sent out to all e-mail users at Sishen in order to determine the influence of e-mail on management effectiveness. The survey data enabled a detailed geographic analysis of the e-mail users at Sishen per department, gender, race, age and years of service as well as the details of the respondents. Analysis of the survey data revealed that e-mail has a positive impact on management effectiveness and that Sishen uses e-mail extensively. However, the data also revealed that e-mail impacts negatively on management effectiveness. The key insight from the survey was the extreme low levels of computer and e-mail training done by management. The lack of sufficient e-mail training was seen as one of the major contributing factors of high levels of frustration with e-mail experienced by management. Recommendations were made to Sishen as a result of the study to enable improvement of management effectiveness through the use of e-mail. Implementation of key recommendations with potential key positive impact was also highlighted.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Bestuur gebruik e-pos as 'n gereedskapstuk om uitvoering aan hul take te gee deur middel van die kommunikasiekanaal wat e-pos bied. E-pos leen hom daarna om 'n uitstekende kanaal te wees vir kommunikasie. Sishen Myn gebnuik ook e-pos as 'n kommunikasiekanaal. Die vraag is of die kommunikasiekanaal 'n goeie of slegte invloed het op bestuurseffektiwiteit van die bestuur van die myn. Die geskiedenis van e-pos en die redes vir die gebruik van e-pos is ondersoek. Die verskillende gebruike asook die waarde van e-pos vir die individu en maatskappye is uitgelig. E-pos het ongelukkig ook nadele vir die individu en maatskappye en hierdie nadele is uitgewys en bespreek. Na die toepaslike literatuurstudie is inligting vanaf die e-pos databasis onttrek om die e-pos gebruik van Sishen werknemers te evalueer. Die belangrikste insig vanuit die databasis-ontleding het daarop gedui dat 'n klein hoeveelheid mense die grootste hoeveelheid e-posse binne Sishen stuur en ontvang. 'n Vraelys is tydens 'n meningsopname aan alle e-pos gebruikers binne Sishen uitgestuur om die invloed van e-pos op bestuurseffektiwiteit te bepaal. Vanuit die analise van die vraelys inligting was dit moontlik om geografiese samestelling van die e-pos gebruikers te bepaal. Dit was moontlik om te sien hoeveel werknemers per afdeling, geslag, ras, ouderdom en jare diens e-pos gebruikers is, asook om die besonderhede van die gebruikers vas te stel. Verdere analise van die vraelysinligting het aangedui dat e-pos 'n positiewe uitwerking op bestuurseffektiwiteit het en dat werknemers dit goed gebruik. Ongelukkig het dit ook na vore gekom dat daar genoegsame bewyse is dat daar ook negatiewe invloed op bestuurseffektiwiteit is. Die mees insiggewende was die besonder lae vlakke van rekenaar en e-pos opleiding wat bestuur deurloop het. Dit word gesien as een van die grootste bydraende faktore tot die hoe vlakke van frustrasie wat ervaar word deur bestuur. Vanuit die bevindinge van die vraelys is daar aanbevelings aan Sishen gemaak om sodoende te help om die bestuurseffektiwiteit te bevorder deur die gebruik van e-pos. Die potensiele voordele wat verkry kan word wanneer die aanbevelings implementeer word, is ook aangedui.

Title: Serial recall of two-voice lists: Words are not perceptually organized by voice.

The present study examined how voice affects the perceptual grouping of words in short-term memory that are auditory presented. Three different voice-lists were used: single-voice, alternating-voice and split-voice. In single-voice lists all words were presented in the same voice. In alternating-voice lists words were presented alternately in a male and a female voice. Finally, in split-voice lists words were presented grouped four and four in a male and a female voice. It was hypothesized that recall would be best for split-voice lists, especially at serial position 4 and 5. This was not confirmed. However, in line with earlier investigations, a recall advantage of single-voice lists was found in comparison with recall of alternating-voice lists at the beginning of the serial position curve. Taken together, these results suggest that words are not perceptually organized by voice in short-term memory. Like earlier studies this study found that recall of single-voice lists was better than alternating-voice lists at the first serial position, a result that yet has to be explained.

Šio baigiamojo magistro darbo tikslas yra išanalizuoti keleivių saugumo užtikrinimo būdus Tarptautiniame Vilniaus oro uosto terminale ir pateikti pasiūlymus jo gerinimui. Darbą sudaro dvi pagrindinės dalys. Pirmojoje teorinėje dalyje nagrinėjami oro uostų saugumo reikalavimai tarptautiniu ir Lietuvos mastu. Šioje darbo dalyje taip pat analizuojami oro uostų saugumo ypatybės, terminalų struktūra, nustatomi pavojai ir rizikos oro uostose. Antroje darbo dalyje charakterizuojamas Tarptautinis Vilniaus oro uostas bei jo saugumo organizavimas. Skyrius skirtas analitinei daliai, kurioje numatomos oro uosto keleivių saugumo tobulinimo galimybės. Taikant kompiuterinį modeliavimą apskaičiuojami evakuacijos laikai, suskaičiuojami evakuacijos efektyvumą apibūdinantys rodikliai. Nustatoma geriausias scenarijus. Išsprendus minėtą uždavinį, pateikiamos išvados ir pasiūlymai.
The aim of this master thesis is to analyze the security of passengers at Vilnius International Airport terminal and to make suggestions for improvement. The work consists of two main parts. In the first theoretical part the airport security requirements of international and Lithuanian scale are analyzed. This part also consists of measurement of the characteristics of airport security, terminal structure, identification of hazards and risks at the airport. In the second part Vilnius International Airport characteristics and its security organization are overviewed. This part is devoted to analytical part, which provides airport passenger security improvement. The application of computer simulation is adopted in calculating evacuation time and possible evacuation performance indicators. The best scenario is determined. Having solved that challenge, the conclusions and recommendations are presented.

Denna fallstudie berör Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) och den interna kommunikationen av CSR inom finanssektorn. De organisationer studien har applicerats på är Swedbank och Nordea där studien belyser kommunikation av CSR från central nivå till lokal och vise versa. Idag blir företag i större utsträckning än tidigare granskade inom områdena samhällsarbete och hållbarhetsfrågor. Swedbank och Nordea är två stora aktörer inom finanssektorn, en sektor som tidigare setts ha en mer indirekt påverkan än direkt, och verkar för att samhället ska fungera genom in- och utlåning. Den externa kommunikationen från organisationerna bygger på att den interna kommunikationen ska fungera och leda till ett utförande av det som utlovas på hemsidor, CSR-rapporter, hållbarhetspolicys etc. För att undersöka detta har en kvalitativ fallstudie genomförts med intervjuer genomförda på central, regional och lokal nivå inom de både organisationerna. De slutsatser studien kan dra är att de båda organisationerna följer ord till handling och har inkorporerat CSR i den dagliga verksamheten. Vi ser skillnader organisationerna emellan i den interna kommunikationen av CSR där Swedbank har kommit en längre bit på vägen än Nordea. Den försiktiga kommunikationen och en otydlig definition av CSR har lett till att Nordeas anställda har en bristande medvetenhet kring organisationens CSR-arbete. Detta skapar en inkonsistens mellan Nordeas ideologi att de anställda ska ha en medvetenhet kring Nordeas CSR arbete och deras faktiska kommunikation internt. Swedbank har även i detta avseende kommit längre, då de har förenklat definitionen av CSR genom att bryta ned begreppet till mer lättförståeliga delar för de anställda. Det kan ännu diskuteras om CSR har blivit en institutionaliserad norm inom finanssektorn.

The purpose of this project was to examine the perceptions of junior faculty members as they relate to roles and expectations related to the tenure process. The study utilized a mixed methods approach to gain a multifaceted perspective of this complex process. I employed a quantitative and qualitative survey to explore junior faculty perceptions regarding roles related to promotion and tenure policies. In addition, I conducted fantasy theme analysis (FTA) to explore the organizational rhetoric related to these policies. Findings from the study illustrate the continued presence of the "publish or perish" paradigm, as well as issues related to role conflict within the context of organizational rhetoric.

Abstract:
The Meier site fine-grained lithic assemblage was used to test the hypothesis that a sedentary group will rely heavily on expedient lithic technologies because they stockpile raw material at the residence. At Meier, expedient core reduction provided blanks for a significant number of curated and expedient tools. I propose that sedentism (stockpiling) minimizes energy investments in raw material procurement and blank production while maintaining the ability to efficiently make both curated and expedient tools. Investment in curation is limited to a few tool classes with specialized functions, not transportable design variables.

Previous research has investigated the relationship between organizational tenure and performance by focusing primarily on organizational tenure of the individual employee. We propose that this approach is limited because organizational tenure should be conceptualized as relating to multiple entities including teams and their leaders. As predicted, analysis of two objective performance indicators of 1,753 employees working with 250 leaders of natural work teams in a financial services company revealed that, beyond employee organizational tenure, team leader organizational tenure and team organizational tenure diversity had positive incremental effects on employee performance. Moreover, the positive impact of employee organizational tenure was less pronounced in teams with high rather than low tenure diversity. Our findings suggest that organizations’ capacity to promote performance will be limited if they focus on organizational tenure of an individual, while neglecting the ways in which performance is shaped by organizational tenure related to multiple entities within a team.

Em Trypanosoma cruzi os sítios de replicação estão localizados na periferia nuclear. A fim de entender a dinâmica das moléculas envolvidas na replicação, Orc/Cdc6 foi usado como marcador da maquinaria de pré-replicação e PCNA como marcador da maquinaria de replicação durante o ciclo celular da forma epimastigota. Ambas as moléculas apresentaram dois padrões de localização nuclear: padrão disperso e periférico. Em ensaio de dupla marcação três combinações dos padrões de Orc/Cdc6 e TcPCNA foram encontrados durante G1/S: Orc/Cdc6 periférico e PCNA disperso, ambos dispersos e ambos periféricos. Por meio destes resultados pudemos concluir que durante G1 ambas as moléculas se encontram dispersas. Ao final desta fase, Orc/Cdc6 migra para periferia nuclear enquanto PCNA permanece disperso, migrando para a periferia nuclear quando a célula entra em S, quando a replicação do DNA irá ocorrer. Assim, a replicação na periferia nuclear não se deve à localização prévia das moléculas de replicação nesta região, mas sim à migração destas moléculas para os sítios apropriados.
In Trypanosoma cruzi the replication sites are located at nuclear periphery. In order to analyse the dynamics of molecules involved in replication, Orc/Cdc6 was used as a marker of pre-replication machinery and PCNA as a marker of replication machinery during the cell cycle of epimastigote form. Both molecules presented two nuclear patterns: dispersed pattern and peripheral pattern. Double-labeling assay showed three different patterns of Orc/Cdc6 and PCNA in the nucleus: Orc/Cdc6 at nuclear periphery and PCNA dispersed, both dispersed and both at nuclear periphery. This data allowed us to conclude that during early G1 phase both molecules are dispersed in the nucleus and during late G1 Orc/Cdc6 goes to nuclear periphery while TcPCNA remains dispersed, moving to nuclear periphery, where DNA replication will take place, when S phase starts. Thus, the replication of DNA at nuclear periphery is not due to localization of replications factors at nuclear periphery; instead it depends on the movement of these factors to the appropriated sites.

Utgångspunkten i uppsatsen är, att om en kommunikation av ett budskap inom en organisation skall ha förutsättningar att lyckas, måste budskapet: 1. först och främst bli mottaget, d v s uppfattas av en tänkt mottagare. 2. därefter tolkas korrekt, d v s avsändarens och mottagarens förståelse måste stämma överens. 3. sist, men inte minst, väcka engagemang, d v s vilja att ta till sig budskapet, samt skapa självförtroende, d v s tro att kunna omsätta budskapet i praktiken. Tre metoder analyseras utifrån ett lärandeperspektiv vilket bygger på fenomenografiska principer om att förmedla lärande samt erfarande av lärande genom att skapa variationens arkitektur och bygga relevansstruktur. De tre metoderna som analyseras är: 1. Ifråga om att mottagande - den duala annonseringsmodellen. 2. Ifråga om förståelse - Ongstads triadiska positioneringsmodell. 3. Ifråga om att väcka engagemang och självförtroende att formulera en aktivitet - Palmers multimodala coachningsmodell. Det visar sig att samtliga metoder bör kunna användas för att förmedla lärande enligt det i denna uppsats valda fenomenografiska lärandeperspektivet. En slutsats som dras är, att en möjlig brist och förklaring till att kommunikation inte alltid fungerar, är att mottagaren som en människa med personliga egenskaper och problem glöms bort. Om fokus istället läggs på att utforma kommunikationen så den stämmer överens med hurdan människan (mottagaren) är, är det tänkbart att chansen ökar att få fler åhörare vilka förstår och tar till sig ett förmedlat budskap. Eftersom de tre analyserade metoderna rör olika aspekter av människan, bör användning av samtliga tre tillsammans bidra till att underlätta ett budskaps passage genom de barriärer som hindrar mottagande, förståelse och formulering av aktivitet.
The premise of this thesis is that a successful communication of a message throughout an organisation requires that the message: - first and foremost is received, i e perceived by an intended recipient. - is properly interpreted, i e the sender’s and the receiver's understanding of the message must match. - last, but not least, stimulates involvement, i e stimulates the willingness to take in the message and gives the self-confidence to translate the message into practice. Three methods are analyzed from a learning perspective based on phenomenographic principles. The principles are about facilitating learning by creating the architecture of variation and by building a relevance structure. The three methods analyzed are: 1. In terms of receiving messages – the dual advertising model. 2. In terms of understanding – Ongstad’s triadic positioning model. 3. In terms of commitment and confidence to formulate a task – Palmer’s multimodal coaching model. From the chosen phenomenographic learning perspective, all methods turn out to be useful. One conclusion that may be drawn from the study is, that a possible reason behind unsuccessful communication of a message, is that the receiver as a human being with personal characteristics and problems is not taken into account. Therefore, if focus is placed on designing communication so it matches the receiver, the chance increases to get more listeners who understand and take in the conveyed message. As the three analyzed methods relate to various aspects of the human being, the use of all three together may facilitate the message through the barriers that prevent the message from being received, understood and applied.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze how organizational members experience the organizational culture of companies that claim to have diversity among employees. A qualitative research method was used in the study, where the empirical data was collected through semi-structured interviews. The interview questions are based on the study's chosen theory and a total of 10 interviews were conducted. The empirical data was analyzed with the chosen theory to be able to answer the research question. Broadly speaking, companies' organizational cultures are experienced as inclusive by employees. They feel that they need each other because they work together. However, there is a lack of trust between several employees, which may be due to too weak relationships. Not all employees agree on whether the companies have a diversity identity, but that it needs to be managed to a greater extent. Employees feel that there is potential in the development of diversity management, by including more people with other differences, especially among managers and recruiters. Employees feel recognized, where open communication plays an important role. Not all members of the organization agree on the companies' most important values, and many employees feel that they have no influence over them. Employees also emphasize the importance of individuals' impact on opportunities and convenience, which can affect their motivation.
Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka och analysera hur organisationsmedlemmar upplever organisationskulturen på företag som påstår sig ha mångfald bland anställda. I denna studie genomfördes det en kvalitativ forskningsmetod där empirin samlades in genom semistrukturerade intervjuer. Intervjufrågorna grundar sig utifrån studiens valda teori och totalt genomfördes 10 intervjuer. Empirin analyserades med den valda teorin för att kunna besvara forskningsfrågan. I stora drag upplevs företagens organisationskulturer inkluderande av anställda. De upplever att de behöver varandra eftersom de samarbetar. Dock upplevs det en bristande tillit mellan flertalet anställda, vilket kan bero på för svaga relationer. Alla anställda är inte eniga om företagen har en mångfaldsidentitet, men att den behöver hanteras i större utsträckning. Anställda upplever att det finns potentialer i utvecklingen av mångfaldshantering, i form av inkludering av fler personer med andra skillnader, speciellt bland chefer och rekryterare. Anställda känner sig erkända, där öppen kommunikation spelar en viktig roll. Alla organisationsmedlemmar är även inte eniga om företagens viktigaste värderingar, och flertalet anställda upplever att de inte har något inflytande av de. Anställda framhäver även vikten av enskilda individers påverkan av möjligheter och bekvämlighet, vilket kan påverka deras motivation.

ENGLISH ABSTRACT: Early in 2001, Thabazimbi Iron Ore mine embarked upon a Leadership and Culture Change strategy. This program was one of the five strategic goals decided upon as part of the strategic drive to improve the performance of the business. A formal, structured implementation plan was crafted in house to approach the initiative. The plan was based on the literature of a number of prominent authors in the fields of leadership, competence theory and change management. The plan is built around a model known as the "Thabazimbi Thumbprint" which is primarily based on the work of Bernard Bass and Bruce Avolio in the field of Transfomational Leadership, and Dr Jay Hall's research and literature on the Competence Process. The primary aims of the implementation of this strategy at the mine were to: • Address the damage done to morale and commitment levels by repeated downsizing and the threat of mine closure. • Establish a high performance team culture. • Remove blockages to performance and the development of human potential. The strategy and implementation plan of the mine is compared against current literature within the fields of leadership and change management and significant similarities are observed. Even though the implementation of this initiative has only been running for some 2 years and is far from complete, a number of significant improvements have been made in terms of collaboration, commitment, trust in management and the reduction of conflict. In addition the performance of the mine in the field of safety and health has vastly improved, the production process is currently stable and targets are met, operating costs have reduced by 4% year on year and the current life of mine has been extended to 10 years. The writer has been the Engineering Manager at the mine from December 2001 and has been responsible for the implementation of this strategy within the Engineering department of the mine. The strategy and implementation plan serves as an example of a fully integrated and comprehensive approach to implementing such an initiative, while remaining simple and practical. The author identifies a number of deficiencies within the strategy used by the mine and makes some recommendations to improve the process that should be considered with respect to the future implementations of this type of initiative.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Thabazmbi Ysterertsmyn met 'n Leierskap en Kultuur veranderingstrategie aan die begin van 2001 begin. Die program was deel van vyf strategiese besigheidsdoelwitte wat daarop gemik was om die kern te vorm van die strewe na 'n verbeterde prestasie van die besigheid. 'n Formele, gestruktureerde implementeringsplan is deur die myn ontwikkel vir die daarstelling van die inisiatief. Die plan was op die literatuur van prominente skrywers in die leierskap, bevoegtheidsteorie en veranderingsbestuur rigtings gebaseer. Die plan is gebou op 'n model bekend as die "Thabazimbi Thumbprint" en is gebaseer op die werk van Bernard Bass en Bruce Avolio in die veld van Transformasie Leierskap, en op Dr Jay Hall se navorsing en literatuur oor die "Competence Process". Abstract:
Four research questions guided this documentation and assessment of the Portland Police Bureau's conversion to community policing. These questions generated a description of the events and circumstances that created the perceived need for change in the Bureau's role and function; a search for justification for selecting community policing as an alternative policing approach; a comparative analysis of past attempts to implement innovative change of a similar dimension in police organizations; and an assessment of the process by which the Bureau implemented this new policing strategy. The findings indicate that the prominent factors driving this change are first, the limitations of conventional policing tactics against emerging new patterns of crime and disorder; second, an intensification of public interest in quality-of-life issues; and third, an increase in the numbers of progressive police officers that are influencing change in the traditional police culture. The process by which the Bureau effected changes in its organizational structure and design to accommodate community policing strategies was assessed using theoretical guidelines abstracted from the organizational change literature. This assessment led to a hypothesis that innovative change which is incongruent with organizational traditions and culture must be implemented organization-wide, in an "all-or-none" fashion, to maximize the probability that the change will become institutionalized. The Bureau's inadvertent adherence to most of the guidelines suggests that a pattern may exist to guide the implementation of innovative organizational change. It was also found that the traditional bureaucratic policing structure has been relaxed, but remains quasi-bureaucratic in character, as a function of retaining the traditional military rank structure.

The purpose of this Master’s thesis is to understand how theories of organizational culture canenrich our understanding of Matthew’s group, his parable speech and the parables of thekingdom of heaven. I argue that Matthew edited and constructed the parable speech to fit hisintentions so that he could call for righteous behavior from the members of his group. I thenargue that the parable speech can be viewed as a regulatory document that addresses externalproblems of adaption and internal problems of integration that Matthew’s group had to face.I also argue that the parables of the kingdom of heaven are related to externaland internal problems and that the parables can be understood as artifacts that express thepreferred behavior applied by the leaders of Matthew’s group.My conclusion is that the theories of organizational culture give us a betterunderstanding of the complex situation of Matthew’s group and that the parable speech isrelated to these issues and addresses the group. It can therefore be considered a regulatorydocument. The parables of the kingdom of heaven can be understood as stories that call forrighteous behavior and persuade the Jewish people to join Matthew’s group through followingthe law according to view held by Matthew’s group.

Traditionellt inom området för kvalitetsteknik har fokus legat på de så kallat "hårdare delarna" såsom statistisk uppföljning av processer, mätningar och problemlösningsmetoder. Tidigare forskning har identifierat att en av de huvudsakliga orsakerna till att kvalitetsinitiativ inte når framgång är att organisationen misslyckas med att skapa en kultur som stödjer förbättringsarbetet. Trots att kultur identifierats som en nyckel till framgång finns det en kunskapslucka kring hur och om kultur, och då kanske främst kvalitetskultur, kan skapas. Kultur består till stor del av dess värderingar och att dessa är accepterade av medarbetarna. Den här studien syftar till att bidra med kunskapsutveckling kring hur metoden Appreciative Inquiry (AI) kan användas i praktiken i organisationers arbete med värderingar och kultur, och identifiera möjliga effekter av detta. En deskriptiv fallstudie genomfördes inom en organisation i södra Sverige, genom två dialogbaserade workshops, en enkätstudie och dokumentstudie. Resultatet visar att AI är en metod som möjliggör strukturerad dialog gällande värderingar och beteenden kopplade till dessa. Vidare bidrar metoden till att levandegöra en organisations värderingar genom att medarbetare både upplever och uppvisar en förändring gällande enighet och förståelse för värderingarna inom den studerade organisationen.
Through tradition there has been a focus on "hard values" within total quality management, for an example statistical process measurements and problem-solving techniques. Research identifies the failure to create a supportive culture for improvements as one of the main reasons why organizations fail in their quality management initiatives. Despite the knowledge that culture is a mayor key to success, there is a gap of knowledge to how, and even if, it is possible to create a supportive quality culture. What defines culture is to a large extent the values it is based up on, and that the coworkers within an organization take ownership of these values. The purpose of this research is to contribute with knowledge towards how Appreciative Inquiry (AI) can be used within organizational work with values, culture, and to identify possible effects, if any, of the method. An explanatory case study at an organization in the south of Sweden was conducted through two dialogue-based workshops, an online survey, and a document study. The result shows that AI creates a structured dialogue about values and value-related behaviors and succeeds in bringing organizational values to life. This is shown though both the perceived and demonstrated changes within coworkers, towards being in agreement and understanding the values within an organization.

Purpose - The purpose of this thesis is to explore aspects that affect inter-organizational knowledge transfer (KT), at the organizational level, from different sized companies such as small and medium enterprise (SME) and large or multinational company (LC/MNC), separately, to their partners.Design/methodology/approach - This thesis conducted a qualitative study with a deductive approach, using two companies in Sweden that belong to the hospitality industry and health sector, one SME, and one LC/MNC in order to explore the aspects that affect inter-organizational knowledge transfer by applying a theoretical framework based on existing literature. Thus, the thesis adopts an exploratory case study approach as a research strategy, to which the theoretical framework is applied to. Findings – The theoretical framework regarding SMEs and LC/MNCs engaging in inter-organizationalKT with partners found that the following aspects are affected differently in the companies: (1) Howformal and informal Knowledge governance mechanisms are applied in the different sized firms (e.g.,LC/MNC aim to reduce cost and improve profitability with formal, while SMEs focus on growth andexpansion with informal) (2) Formal trust agreements are used to establish Trust with partners for bothsized firms (e.g., by None-disclosure agreements), (3) In Cultural distance, SMEs focus onunderstanding the decision-making process and motivation of their international partners, (4)Geographical distance/proximity is prevalent to establish trust-based relationship between partners, (5)In Disseminative capacity SMEs as a source feel less motivated to exchange knowledge with differentpartners, e.g., a LC/MNC due to their rigid processes and inflexibility , (6) The LC/MNC prefer formalSocial ties with partners, while SMEs prefer informal ones, however the SME often ends up adaptingto their larger partners preferences, (7) Both the SME and LC/MNC attempt to establish Motivation viathe job deception for the employees and the employees were motivated by this rather than being offeringintrinsic or extrinsic motivation, (8) The SME’s Absorptive capacity as a recipient of knowledge, limitsthe KT due to their organizational limitations and (9) The perspective of LC/MNC regarding Knowledgecharacteristics, when the maturity level and experience of the partner organization (e.g., a SME) isdeemed low, this affects the KT negatively as it increases ambiguity and tacitness of the knowledge,while complexity was found to be of low concern due to the smaller organizational needs. Managerial implications - This thesis brings practical implications to senior managers of companies at the strategic level. First, the findings provide an understanding of aspects that affect inter-organizational knowledge transfer where one organization can prioritize aspects that belong to different sized partners and shape accordingly a strategy on collaboration and interaction with external partners of different sizes. Therefore, when top managers are aware of aspects that affect knowledge exchange between partners, they can identify various risks of success and failure in KT processes according to the list provided and prioritize actions and opportunities that can arise due to engagement in that partnership: cultural, geographical, motivation, partner’s capabilities, ambiguity, complexity, etc. Secondly, to draw a holistic snapshot of various aspects in the findings that affect KT activities from the inter-organizational perspective for different firm sizes in terms of similarities and differences of KT activities for LC/MNCs and SMEs, managers can establish specific strategies to analyze their own knowledge transfer activities to adjust accordingly when participate in inter-organizational knowledge transfer with partners depending on the size. Originality/value - This research adds value to inter-organizational KT aspects for SMEs and LC/MNCs in terms of differences and similarities, in the sense of how KT aspects affect the different organizations, as the aspects are prioritized, impacted, and treated differently based on the size of the organization. Thus, this thesis integrates aspects that affect inter-organizational KT from different bodies of the literature and demonstrate theoretically and empirically the perspective of different company size(LC/MNC and SME). Problem - Decision makers shape the structure of the sales function, but it is unclear how they go about it and why. The rationale for making certain decisions need to be analyzed in order to understand why different decision makers apply different sales strategies. Topic - The Swedish prefabricated wooden house industry consists of many actors with no clear market leader. The sales force seems to mainly consists of external sales agents (manufacturers' representatives, also called reps), though some manufacturers also employ direct sales agents at the manufacturing company. Prefabricated wooden houses corresponded to 86% of all building permits requested during 2015. Purpose - This thesis aims to explore decision-makers' rationale behind the organization of manufacturers' sales forces in the Swedish prefabricated wooden house industry. Method - Semi-structures interviews with decision makers at manufacturing companies in the Swedish prefabricated wooden house industry have been conducted in order to fulfill the purpose of this study. The empirical findings are then analyzed based on theory that has been collected through partly inductive, partly deductive approaches. Main results - Decision makers use different arguments to justify their strategies. Many different rationale applied translates into no clear pattern besides the one that there seems to be no clear pattern. Arguments for a rationale decision are given without analytical proof for an assumption. Some interviewees are in essence for an integrated sales force, though might also work with reps.

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sen September 2008, 105 pages This study seeks to analyze the dimensions of economic integration in the Central Asia after the independence. The collapse of the Soviet Union opened new perspectives for Central Asian states and gave chance to follow national policies independently. However, used to be parts of the big economic complex of the former Soviet Union and being lack of government experience in public and private economy made them to cooperate with old and new markets. The study argues that although there were established numbers of economic integration or cooperation institutions none of them could meet the region&rsquo
s economic expectations and needs. They were just results of unstable economic, political and social transition policies. Therefore well-functioning economy oriented cooperation institutions have not been established during the transition period due to different reasons. Analyzing of these reasons is the main goal of thesis. This study also argues that transition period put Central Asian states into the complexity of choices
economic interdependence or socio-political independence. Pushing forward previous choice offers lowering barriers to regional trade and transit, and to mobility of capital and knowledge and, to access to world market. Whereas, political and social development in national level does not suits previous one.

Abstract:
I investigated insecurity threat and its implications for employee leadership preferences. Preferences for three types of leadership style were examined: charismatic, relationship-oriented, and task-oriented leadership. It was anticipated that individuals’ salient work values would predict leadership preference more strongly after insecurity threat than under control conditions. Two different types of threats were investigated in comparison to a neutral control condition. Results showed that there were no statistically significant differences in leader ratings between threat conditions. My results suggest that threat does not significantly influence preference for charismatic or task-oriented leaders. Work values did not significantly predict a preference for a leadership type.

This study tries to understand the internal dynamics of the civil society organizations in Turkey on the experiences of three CSOs: the Ankara Branches of KADER, MAZLUMDER and IMO by focusing on the intra&ndash
organizational practices (the decision making processes, elections, general meetings, division of labor, basic conflicts and divergences, the disagreements, the way of deliberation and consensus). It tries to shed light on the transformative potential of the CSO&rsquo
s in public sphere as civil organizations themselves in time both in the sense of their political stances and organizational structure. The research was designed in the form of a case study including both the depth interwiews and participant observations. In this framework, ten depth-interviews were made with members having different qualities for each of these CSOs and participant observations were realized in the general meetings, elections and activities of these organizations. Since the aim of this study is to understand the contribution of the CSOs to the public sphere, the research findings were interpreted and considered basically in the light of the two main theoretical positions: the deliberative (Habermas) and agonistic (Laclau and Mouffe) democracy. The study espoused a post-structuralist conception of democracy combined with a weakened model of deliberation and dialogue pointing out the requirement of the existential publicity of man (Arendt) in the world. In this context, this study tries to discuss the following questions within the framework of the public sphere experience of the three CSOs throughout the thesis. Is the concept of civil society a proper concept for understanding the peculiar experience of Turkey (with reference to the historical context of civil associational life in Turkey and the recent civil resurrection)? Do civil organizations have the capacity to serve for deepening and consolidation of democracy in public sphere? Are these civil organizations democratic and participatory with regard to their intra-organizational structures and decision-making processes? And, more importantly, do they have any capacity to influence the process of democratic transformation in Turkey?

Third-sector entities are organizations without lucrative purposes which are spread all around the world, booming in Brazil with great national representativeness. Those entities have initiative, creativity and diversity as work propeller springs, allowing them to work as truly citizenship schools searching information and providing social services which the society really needs. Theirs dynamic is complementary to the Estate and market activities, without lucrative purposes. For that, they face challenges, in e.g. , the sustainability, the lack of resources and complex taxes legislation, among others. Some depends exclusively on the Estate, some don t; they generate their own resources as strategy to complement what have been redirected, but some are taxed. The plots withheld by tax authorities, may or not, influence its management. This study tries to answer this question. It s about a Health Institute case study, in Irmandade da Santa Casa de Miseric??rdia de S??o Paulo, between 2008 and 2009. The research justifies itself by the lack of information, interpretations and publications available in Brazil, about this organization tax matter, specifically, related to the tax payments from their own revenues generated by the institution and by the third-sector importance, as Estate provided services complementary role. The research methodology has exploratory characteristic. The method used is the bibliographic and documental, and the technique, descriptive and qualitative, throughout extensive interviews observation, so as reports and also documents given by the Institution analysis. The research has as purpose the development of the study theoretical bases, involving themes such as: sustainability, resources capitation, recipes tax payments and tax benefits. Assuming in an initial scenario that most of these entities face lack of resources problems, theirs management could have good efficiency levels. Therefore, about the sustainability, the research also concerned about measuring the entity object of study performance. The methodology used was developed by the American foundation The Roberts Enterprise Development Fund REDF, called the Social Return on Investment (SROI), with the objective of quantifying the economical and social value created with the investments of third sector entities. The research showed that the Irmandade da Santa Casa de Miseric??rdia de S??o Paulo is not influenced by its recipes tax payments, whereas the revenue doesn t apply on it the tax payments as it does in other entities. It understands that the entity revenues doesn t have economical nature and relates to the final activity. But, the entity questions judicially the incidence of PIS/PASEP about the monthly payment sheet. The evaluation thru the SROI showed that the entity depends on the social revenues to complement its economical activity. The main research contribution was to foment the concept discussion if the third-sector entity revenues should or not be taxed. The obtained results in terms of methodology value may not be generalized comparing to other third-sector entities. Therefore, it is recommendable to maintain the discussion about the topic.
