Dar a conocer destacadas enciclopedias de literatura para niños y adolescentes en diferentes países europeos y la vinculación que se origina entre ellas, consolida nuestro propósito en este artículo. Son obras publicadas en lengua inglesa, italiana y española para educar a un público infantil que atraviesa momentos históricos, ideologías e intereses políticos diversos. L’Enciclopedia dei ragazzi (1922) italiana, nace como traducción y adaptación de la Encyclopedia of Children’s inglesa. La Scala D’oro (1932) italiana, a su vez, es la fuente de El libro de Oro de los niños. Un mundo maravilloso para la infancia (1943), publicado en Méjico en español bajo la dirección literaria del escritor español Benjamín Jarnés, exiliado allí en 1939.Se pone en juego, de esta manera, una transferencia del saber enciclopédico destinado a la infancia para (de)construir a través de la enseñanza de la Literatura, del Arte y del Conocimiento humano una identidad ¿individual, nacional, transnacional, mundial? desde una polifonía de lenguas y de culturas. Présenter des encyclopédies exceptionnelles de littérature pour les enfants, dans différents pays européens et d'interconnecter ou d’afficher le lien qui provient entre elles, notamment consolident notre but dans cet article. Ce sont des œuvres publiées en anglais, en langue italienne et espagnole pour éduquer les enfants qui traversent des moments historiques, des idéologies politiques et des intérêts différentes. L'Encyclopédie dei ragazzi (1922) d'origine italienne, est née comme la traduction et l'adaptation de l'Encyclopédie des enfants en anglais. La Scala D'oro (1932) italienne, à son tour, est la source du Livre d'or des enfants. Un monde merveilleux pour les enfants (1943), publié au Mexique en espagnol sous la direction littéraire de l’écrivain espagnol Benjamin Jarnés, dans l’exil de 1939.Il entre en jeu, par conséquent, le transfert de connaissances encyclopédiques destiné aux enfants pour la (de)construction, à travers l'enseignement de la littérature, de l'art et de la connaissance humaine, de l'identité, individuelle, nationale, transnationale, mondiale? à partir d'une polyphonie de langues et de cultures.

Abstract:

Afan Oromo- the language of the Oromo- is also known as Oromo. The word ‘Oromo’ refers to both the People of Oromo and their language. It is one of the widely spoken indigenous African languages. It is also spoken in multiple countries in Africa including Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan and Tanzania among others. Moreover, it is spoken as a native language, second language and lingua-franca across Ethiopia and beyond. Regardless of its scope in terms of number of speakers and geographical area it covers, Afan Oromo as a literary language is only emerging due to perpetuating unfair treatment it received from successive Ethiopian regimes. This commentary sought to examine prospects and challenges of Afan Oromo. To this end, drawing on existing literature and author’s own personal observations, salient prospects and challenges of Afan Oromo have been presented and briefly discussed. Suggestions to confront the challenges foreseen have been proposed by the author where deemed necessary. The paper concludes with author’s concluding remarks concerning the way forward.

Abstract:

Peut-on espérer faire l’économie de la gestion des muscles et des fonctions dans les plans de traitement orthodontiques ou ortho-chirurgicaux ? En quoi le masseur-kinésithérapeute spécialisé peut-il aider, faciliter, stabiliser le travail de l’orthodontiste et du chirurgien maxillo-facial et éviter les récidives ? L’alignement dentaire et l’équilibre occlusal recherchés par les traitements sont en lien direct avec l’équilibre musculaire de la langue, des muscles peauciers, des muscles masticateurs, des muscles posturaux et les fonctions de la sphère oro-faciale. La réinstallation d’un équilibre entre muscles agonistes et antagonistes passe par un relâchement des muscles contracturés et par une tonification progressive des muscles déficients. La rééducation des dysfonctions oro-maxillo-faciales (linguales, labiales, jugales, masticatoires, ventilatoires) et de la posture globale, ainsi que la gestion des para-fonctions, nécessitent obligatoirement la participation active du patient pour un traitement efficace et pérenne. Cette rééducation est indispensable à l’orthopédie dento-faciale des enfants comme des adultes. L’illustration au travers de cas pratiques montrera ce que la rééducation myo-fonctionnelle peut apporter. Les résultats sont extrêmement satisfaisants pour rétablir les fonctions naturelles sous la condition d’exercices musculaires quotidiens et l’entraînement, tout au long de la journée, des bonnes postures et praxies enseignées, et cela pendant un à plusieurs trimestres sous la supervision du rééducateur.

Abstract:

Glottochronological Classification of Oromo Dialects The purpose of the present article is the classification of the Oromo dialect continuum. Firstly, the previous attempts are discussed. As a method the so-called ‘recalibrated glottochronology’ developed by Sergei Starostin was applied. The results confirm the mutual relation of the ‘mainstream’ dialects, Maca, Qottu and Borana. In the case of more peripheral dialects the differences are bigger in comparison with the ‘impressionistic’ model sketched in Ethnologue16 (Bender compared only those three dialects). The reason probably consists in the chosen method: although it is not explicitly said in Ethnologue16, the classification used combines the qualitative and geographical approaches, contrary to the present model based on strictly quantitative principles.

Abstract:

In current phonological feature theories, the behaviour of glottals poses serious problems for their representation. The special status of / h / and /? / which are often transparent to vowel harmony processes (cf. Steriade 1987; McCarthy 1991, forthcoming; Stemberger 1993), has led to the hypothesis that, at least in some languages, they lack a place node. The representation of ejectives and implosives, though, is very rarely discussed in the literature. On phonetic grounds, the main difference between plain stops and ejectives and implosives is the airstream mechanism used during their realisation, the former having a pulmonic egressive airstream while the latter involve a supplementary glottal constriction, which may accompany either egressive airflow, as in ejectives, or ingressive, as in implosives.

Abstract:

Introduction : L’objet de cet article est d’évaluer les effets d’une gouttière d’éducation fonctionnelle souple dans le traitement d’interception des dysmorphoses de classe II division 1. Materiels et Methodes : Une étude EGIDYS observationnelle prospective, multicentrique et non comparative a été menée chez 81 enfants de classe II division 1, présentant un ou plusieurs troubles dysfonctionnels. Les patients ont porté une gouttière souple de la gamme EF Line® à raison de deux heures minimum par jour et toute la nuit pendant douze mois, associée à des exercices d’éducation en fonction des cas. Ils ont été suivis après un mois, quatre mois et douze mois de traitement. La ventilation, la position linguale, la tension des lèvres et de la musculature péri-orale, la forme des arcades et les measures céphalométriques dento-squelettiques ont été évaluées au début et après un an d’éducation fonctionnelle. Resultats : À l’inclusion, l’examen fonctionnel montre que la majorité des enfants présentent une position de langue basse au repos, une ventilation buccale ou mixte, un tonus musculaire labial et péri-oral anormal et un maxillaire souvent étroit. L’examen céphalométrique initial enregistre les parameters suivants : surplomb, recouvrement incisif, inclinaison des incisives inférieures par rapport à la ligne A-Pog, angles SNA, SNB et ANB. Après douze mois d’éducation fonctionnelle avec une gouttière souple EF Line®, on observe une amelioration des fonctions de la sphère oro-faciale, objectivée par une correction de la position de la langue au repos, ainsi que de l’indice lingual en faveur d’une position de la langue contre le palais, une réduction de la tension de la lèvre inférieure au repos et en fonction, ainsi que des muscles buccinateurs, une augmentation de la capacité à respirer par le nez et un changement de forme du maxillaire en faveur d’une forme arrondie. On observe également une réduction importante du surplomb et du recouvrement incisif, ainsi qu’une baisse significative de l’angle ANB due à sa composante SNB qui est augmentée. Cette première étape du plan de traitement orthodontique aboutit à 73 % d’amélioration des dysmorphoses de classe II division 1. La correction de la malocclusion et des troubles fonctionnels est corrélée de manière significative à une bonne observance du port de la gouttière EF Line®. Conclusions : Cette étude a permis de montrer que les éducateurs fonctionnels souples EF Line®, de par leur conception, corrigent efficacement les troubles fonctionnels liés à une mauvaise position linguale et que cela entraîne des modifications dento-squelettiques positives par rapport à l’absence de traitement. D’un point de vue clinique, les gouttières souples EF Line® ont un intérêt dans le prétraitement orthopédique et orthodontique des dysmorphoses de classe II division 1.

Abstract:

Cette étude s’intéresse à l’évolution des capacités de production de la parole dans le vieillissement, dans une perspective lifespan. En effet, en plus de la diminution des capacités de production langagière, l’âge entraîne une réduction des capacités de contrôle moteur de la parole et une dégradation des structures oro-laryngées. Cependant, les effets de l’âge sur les capacités de production de la parole restent peu étudiés, particulièrement en langue française. Dans cette étude, nous nous centrons sur l’analyse du délai d’établissement du voisement (VOT), un paramètre important de la distinction entre les occlusives voisées et non voisées en français, et qui constitue un indice intéressant des capacités de coordination entre les gestes glottiques et supra-glottiques. Dans ce but, nous avons proposé une tâche de répétition de non-mots CVCV, comprenant les six consonnes occlusives du français /p,t,k,b,d,g/ à des participants de 40 à 80 ans, répartis en quatre groupes par tranches d’âges de 10 ans. Les résultats montrent la présence d’une diminution des valeurs de VOT ainsi que des pourcentages de voisement des premières consonnes voisées des non-mots après 60 ans. La présence d’effets délétères de l’âge sur les capacités d’initiation et de maintien du voisement des voisées du français est discutée.

Abstract:

AbstractThis article aims to reopen and advance the discussion of the geographic location of Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite, the author of the Corpus Dionysiacum. While various locales, for example, Antioch and Alexandria, have been proposed, none of the hypotheses about Dionysius's identity and location has to date gained the universal acceptance among scholars. This study shows that the baptismal rites described in the second chapter of Pseudo-Dionysius's Ecclesiastical Hierarchy and in the fifth century Ordo of Constantinople, recorded in the Euchologion Barberini gr. 336, have several unique features in common, such as the threefold renunciation of Satan, balanced by the threefold profession of faith, and the blessing of the baptismal water with the consecrated oil. These features are not attested by any other source contemporary or earlier than the Ecclesiastical Hierarchy and the material of the Ordo. Based on these unique similarities the author advances a new hypothesis that Pseudo-Dionysius describes a Constantinopolitan rite and very likely lived in Constantinople at some point in his career. Six objections to this hypothesis are considered and answered in the second part of the paper.

Abstract:

Abstract This paper argues that there is nothing “differential” in the licensing conditions of Differential Object Marking and outlines an analysis that unifies dom with dative object marking and with a broader set of “derived object”-marking configurations. We show that neither morphological nor syntactic distinctiveness can be the driving force for dom: accounts of dom as a morphological distinctiveness device are inadequate diachronically and very unefficient functionally. Syntactic analyses that postulate DP-internal differences or construction-specific double-licensing conditions fail to capture the basic fact that dom is a relation between the objects and the predicates selecting them. Precisely, the burden of our unified explanation falls on the checking requirements imposed to the DP complements by the structural heads selecting them.

Abstract:

Summary This article is intended as a contribution to the history of Spanish grammar of the 16th and 17th centures. It has two parts. In the first the author places grammar studies within the framework of Spanish linguistics of the Renaissance; in the second, he delineates their evolution with reference to Latin grammar and the teaching Spanish as a foreign language. It is well known that nationalism and the intention to establish the literary foundations of the language are the most important agents of grammatical studies during the Renaissance; yet, attention must also be paid to the rupture of medieval Latin-Romance bilingualism, to the new intellectual paradigm in which rhetorics substitutes for syllogism, and to the influence of Erasmus. The grammar of the troubadours and Latin grammar – medieval and humanist – evoke an interest in developing grammars of Romance languages; it made the appearance of Nebrija possible. In his grammar of Spanish we may stress its capacity to be a grammar for foreigners and the value of this document for the history of Spanish. Spanish grammar writing of the 16th century is dominated by Nebrija; is strong presence is evident with the critical reception Villalon and Valdes give to his work. In the 17th century the work of Sanctius initiates a rationalism which favours pedagogical methodology and linguistic nationalism. Jimenez Paton, Correas and Caramuel are the most important authors of that period. With an exemplary linguistic realism Correas applies Sanctius’ theory of the elipsis to Spanish, and he recognizes the singularity of Spanish grammar in contrast to that of Latin. The grammars written for foreigners in the 17th century are at the height of inductive methodology.

Abstract:

the present study follows a qualitative research approach that analyzes the perceptions of people linked to the different fields in the tourism sector of the province of El Oro in Ecuador. Currently, this province has professionals who lack a good level of English proficiency to provide foreigners with the best service. The researchers applied semi-structured interviews, capitalization of testimony, and focus group discussions to 15 participants associated with the different activities in the tourism area. The present study aimed to explore the needs and uses of the English language in the tourism and Hostelry sectors of "El Oro," the implications of having staff with good English language knowledge, and the impact of knowing English in the tourism sector. The results revealed that staff required having an appropriate level of English proficiency to make tourists feel comfortable during their stay. For this reason, knowing English has a positive impact in all the areas of the tourism sector. The researchers suggest further studies regarding the effectiveness of different strategies and techniques to develop English for Tourism Purposes (ETP) at the university level and examine the impact of knowing English in the different fields of the tourism sector.

Abstract:

Abstract In this article, I offer a critical discussion of the work of prominent dialogue theorist Edda Weigand from an integrational linguistic perspective. The discussion centres upon Weigand’s ‘Mixed Game Model’ (MGM), a model which is claimed to constitute a holistic theory of dialogue and to describe how language is integrated in a general theory of human action. I am particularly interested in determining how much (un)common ground exists between the two approaches especially since both style themselves as ‘non-orthodox’ and accord considerable theoretical importance to the notion of ‘integration’. In the end, I come to the conclusion that despite what turn to be some rather superficial areas of convergence, the gap between integrationist and Weigandian thought remains considerable and most likely unbridgeable. I suggest that this state of affairs can be explained by the highly divergent views concerning the nature of linguistic inquiry and the role of theory therein held by those in the respective camps.
