Abstract:
Ornidazole of the 5-nitroimidazole drug family is used to treat protozoan and anaerobic bacterial infections via a mechanism that involves preactivation by reduction of the nitro group, and production of toxic derivatives and radicals. Metronidazole, another drug family member, has been suggested to affect photosynthesis by draining electrons from the electron carrier ferredoxin, thus inhibiting NADP+ reduction and stimulating radical and peroxide production. Here we show, however, that ornidazole inhibits photosynthesis via a different mechanism. While having a minute effect on the photosynth

In this a double-blind study, 17 patients wıth rosacea were treated topically with% 1 ornidazole cream. The other group of 9 patients with rosacea received place-bo cream. Applications were performed twice daily and treatment results were evaluated after one month. The cream was locally well tolerated and no systemic symptoms were noted. Topical ornidazole cream therapy appears to be a safe and efficacious therapy in the treatment of rosacea.

Abstract:
One of the most complex problems of modern surgery is the treatment and prevention of anaerobic infection. Main place in overcoming of this infectious complication is devoted to urgent surgical intervention and correct early empiric antibacterial therapy. Special place in the combined empiric antibacterial treatment is devoted to 5-nitroimidazoles. Modern data about clinical efficacy of ornidazole in the treatment of surgical infectious complications is presented in the article. We performed a comparison of therapeutic activity and physical-chemical properties, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodyna
