The structured Blind Pass at the north end of the barrier island interrupts the southward longshore sediment transport, resulting in severe and chronic beach erosion along the northern portion of the island. We solve a random matrix ensemble called the chiral Ginibre orthogonal ensemble, or chGinOE. This non-Hermitian ensemble has applications to modelling particular low-energy limits of two-colour quantum chromo-dynamics (QCD). In particular, the matrices model the Dirac operator for quarks in the presence of a gluon gauge field of fixed topology, with an arbitrary number of flavours of virtual quarks and a non-zero quark chemical potential. We derive the joint probability density function (JPDF) of eigenvalues for this ensemble for finite matrix size N, which we then write in a factorised form.

In 1939, I.M. Sheffer proved that every polynomial sequence belongs to one and only one $type$. Sheffer extensively developed properties of the $B$-\emph{Type 0} polynomial sequences and determined which sets are also orthogonal. A generalization of multigroup energy condensation theory has been developed. The new method generates a solution within the few-group framework which exhibits the energy spectrum characteristic of a many-group transport solution, without the computational time usually associated with such solutions. In this thesis, we have explicitly calculated all lower order terms for the n-correlation of zeros of certain families of L-functions. These calculations follow from Conrey and Snaith's similar work for the Riemann zeta function. Katz and Sarnak have argued that the zero statistics of families of L-functions have an underlying symmetry relating to certain ensembles of random matrices.
