Abstract:
Endophytic bacteria in medicinal and aromatic plants provide valuable insights into the microbial diversity of these plants and form the basis for research on their ecological roles and biotechnological potential. In this study, the endophytic bacterial diversity of Origanum rotundifolium Boiss. was determined, and a total of eleven endophytic bacteria were isolated from the root, stem, and leaf tissues of O. rotundifolium. The isolated bacteria were characterized based on certain morphological and biochemical properties. Molecular identification was performed using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The identified isolates were as follows: Kocuria rosea (OR1), Schumannella sp. (OR2), Micrococcus luteus (OR3, OR7), Bacillus proteolyticus (OR4), Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens (OR5), Staphylococcus sp. (OR6, OR10), Microbacterium proteolyticum (OR8), Microbacterium sp. (OR9), and Actinomyces sp. (OR11). This study reports, for the first time, the diversity of endophytic bacteria isolated from Origanum rotundifolium.

Abstract:
Organizational behavior plays a crucial role in effective management. However, there is limited research onorganizational behaviors in road usage charging management. This study aims to address this gap by identifying six dimensions of organizational behavior through focus group studies. Questionnaires were administered to 138 professionals in Vietnam, and the data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The findings revealed six behavioral dimensions: Responsibilities fulfillment (OR1), Progress assurance (OR2), Aligned implementation organization (OR3), Hierarchical and delegated management (OR4), Efficient operation system (OR5), and Transparency and accountability assurance (OR6). Among these dimensions, OR2, OR4, and OR6 significantly impact management performance. Additionally, OR2 mediates the relationship between OR1 and management performance, OR4 mediates between OR3 and OR5, and OR5 indirectly influences management performance through OR6. It is expected that the efficacy of this approach will strengthen the significance of the organizing function and offer a valuable instrument to aid professionals in the field of road usage management.

Abstract:
Organizing function is the significant component of management guaranteeing the success of construction works. Many studies have been emphasizing on the topic of critical success factors (CSFs) within construction works, yet the results have rarely emphasized examining organizing behaviors within public construction work management; these less researched topics were the aims of this study. To fulfil this research aim, a regression analysis design was employed. Data were collected using questionnaires conducted from 139 professionals involved in public construction works management in Vietnam. The structural equation modelling (SEM) technique with partial least-squares estimation (PLS) was utilized to analyze the data. The results revealed 6 behavioral dimensions (i.e., structure organizing (OR1), authorization organizing (OR2), coordination organizing (OR4), human resource organizing (OR3), job organizing (OR5), responsibility organizing (OR6) to assess organizing function in terms of public construction work management. The study also reveals that structure organizing (OR1), authorization organizing (OR2), coordination organizing (OR4) have significant effects on management effectiveness (ME). In addition, coordination organizing (OR4) acts as the mediator of Human resource organizing (OR3), job organizing (OR5); while responsibility organizing (OR6) indicates an indirect influence through the mediator of OR5. The success of this approach is expected to reinforce the contribution of organizing function and suggest a useful tool for supporting the professionals in enhancing public construction work management.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to investigate the protective effect of γ-oryzanol (ORY) against hepatic ischemia reperfusion (HIR) injury and the potential protective mechanisms of ORY. ORY is an important biologically active ingredient isolated from rice bran oil, which has anti-inflammatory and antiapoptotic effects. However, it is still unknown whether ORY can protect the liver from the HIR damage. In this study, ORY was administered orally for seven days, after which the animals were subjected to liver ischemia for 60 minutes and reperfused for 6 hours. Related indicators were analyzed. The results showed that ORY pretreatment significantly reduced the levels of AST and ALT, relieved hepatocellular damage and apoptosis, and attenuated the exhaustion of SOD and GSH and accumulation of MDA and MPO. Interestingly, ORY treatment could significantly decreased ER stress. Furthermore, ORY pretreatment remarkably reduced the protein expressions of HMGB1, NLRP3, caspase-1 (p20), and IL-1β to protect the liver from I/R-induced inflammasome activation and apoptosis. In conclusion, we demonstrated the potential effect of ORY in modulating oxidative stress, endoplasmic reticulum stress, and inflammasome activation during HIR.

Abstract:
γ-Oryzanol (ORY) is well known for its antioxidant potential. However, the mechanism by which ORY exerts its antioxidant effect is still unclear. In this paper, the antioxidant properties of ORY were investigated for its potential effects as a reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS/RNS) scavenger and in activating antioxidant-promoting intracellular pathways utilizing the human embryonic kidney cells (HEK-293). The 24 h ORY exposure significantly prevented hydrogen peroxide- (H2O2-) induced ROS/RNS production at 3 h, and this effect was sustained for at least 24 h. ORY pretreatment also enhanced the activity of antioxidant enzymes: superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPX). Interestingly, ORY induced the nuclear factor (erythroid-derived 2)-like 2 (Nrf2) nuclear translocation and upregulation of Nrf2-dependent defensive genes such as NAD(P)H quinone reductase (NQO1), heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), and glutathione synthetase (GSS) at mRNA and protein levels in both basal condition and after H2O2 insult. Thus, this study suggested an intriguing effect of ORY in modulating the Nrf2 pathway, which is also involved in regulating longevity as well as age-related diseases.

Abstract:
A feeding study lasting 30 days was carried out to determine the effects of dietary Oryzanol (Ory) on the survival, growth, antioxidant capacity, peptic enzymes, as well as lipid metabolism of Larimichthys crocea larvae (11.87 ± 0.59 mg) using four different Ory concentrations in microfeed formulations (0, 20, 40, and 80 mg/kg), all preserving isolipidic (18.25% crude lipid) and isonitrogenous (52.08% crude protein) conditions. Results revealed that larvae given 40 and 80 mg/kg Ory revealed markedly higher survival rates; in particular, the 80 mg/kg Ory larvae exhibited a considerably higher specific growth rate than the control. Furthermore, the 80 mg/kg dietary Ory resulted in increased peptic enzyme activity, indicating heightened digestive capabilities of larvae. Meanwhile, Ory supplementation at 20, 40, and 80 mg/kg also increased antioxidant enzyme activities and reduced malondialdehyde levels, indicating an enhanced antioxidant capacity. Moreover, the incorporation of 20 and 40 mg/kg Ory demonstrated efficacy in enhancing the lipid metabolism of the larvae. This was evident in the reduction of triglyceride and total cholesterol levels in the larval visceral mass, attributed to the downregulation of genes that participate in lipid synthesis, and the upregulation of genes associated with lipid catabolism. Overall, the study suggests that the addition of Ory (ranging from 40 to 80 mg/kg) significantly improves both survival and developmental aspects, possibly mediated by enhanced digestion and antioxidative effects, alongside the induction of lipid metabolism in Larimichthys crocea larvae.

Abstract:
Gamma-oryzanol (ORY), found in rice (Oryza sativa L.), is a mixture of ferulic acid esters with triterpene alcohols, well-known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Our past research demonstrated its positive impact on cognitive function in adult mice, influencing synaptic plasticity and neuroprotection. In this study, we explored whether ORY can exert neuro-differentiating effects by using different experimental models. For this purpose, chemical characterization identified four components that are most abundant in ORY. In human neuroblastoma cells, we showed ORY’s ability to stimulate neurite outgrowth, upregulating the expression of GAP43, BDNF, and TrkB genes. In addition, ORY was found to guide adult mouse hippocampal neural progenitor cells (NPCs) toward a neuronal commitment. Microinjection of ORY in zebrafish Tg (-3.1 neurog1:GFP) amplified neurog1-GFP signal, islet1, and bdnf mRNA levels. Zebrafish nrf2a and nrf2b morphants (MOs) were utilized to assess ORY effects in the presence or absence of Nrf2. Notably, ORY’s ability to activate bdnf was nullified in nrf2a-MO and nrf2b-MO. Furthermore, computational analysis suggested ORY’s single components have different affinities for the Keap1-Kelch domain. In conclusion, although more in-depth studies are needed, our findings position ORY as a potential source of bioactive molecules with neuro-differentiating potential involving the Nrf2 pathway.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
While the great poet, James Whitcomb Riley, a native poet from my hometown of Greenfield, has a strong sense of Indiana and his Hoosier-ness. I compare myself to Whitcomb Riley, only in the sense of place, because my understanding of poetry was shaped around his work growing up in Hancock County. I am personally influenced by other poets such as Sylvia Plath, Walt Whitman, and James Wright in style and in content. My poetry contains a mixture of confessionalism and pastoral poems and doesn’t shy away from critiquing every aspect of place, family, and mental illness. These intersecting ideals and styles (confessional and pastoral in fixed forms/free-verse) place me at a crossroads of my own, where navigating my position within these frameworks alters my view of the Midwest and how a mental illness may, in fact, be worse off because of the isolation, dissociation, and perception.

Abstract:

Abstract:
<p>The ORC Method (Optimised RC-networks) provides a means ofmodelling one- or multidimensional heat transfer in buildingcomponents, in this context within building simulationenvironments. The methodology is shown, primarily applied toheat transfer in multilayer building components. For multilayerbuilding components, the analytical thermal performance isknown, given layer thickness and material properties. The aimof the ORC Method is to optimise the values of the thermalresistances and heat capacities of an RC-model such as to givemodel performance a good agreement with the analyticalperformance, for a wide range of frequencies. The optimisationprocedure is made in the frequency domain, where the over-alldeviation between model and analytical frequency response, interms of admittance and dynamic transmittance, is minimised. Itis shown that ORC's are effective in terms of accuracy andcomputational time in comparison to finite difference modelswhen used in building simulations, in this case with IDA/ICE.An ORC configuration of five mass nodes has been found to modelbuilding components in Nordic countries well, within theapplication of thermal comfort and energy requirementsimulations.</p><p>Simple RC-networks, such as the surface heat capacity andthe simple R-C-configuration are not appropriate for detailedbuilding simulation. However, these can be used as basis fordefining the effective heat capacity of a building component. An approximate method is suggested on how to determine theeffective heat capacity without the use of complex numbers. This entity can be calculated on basis of layer thickness andmaterial properties with the help of two time constants. Theapproximate method can give inaccuracies corresponding to20%.</p><p>In-situ measurements have been carried out in anexperimental building with the purpose of establishing theeffective heat capacity of external building components thatare subjected to normal thermal conditions. The auxiliary wallmethod was practised and the building was subjected toexcitation with radiators. In a comparison, there werediscrepancies between analytical and measured effective heatcapacities. It was found that high-frequency discrepancies wereto a large extent caused by the heat flux sensors.Low-frequency discrepancies are explained by the fact that theexterior climate contained other frequencies than those assumedin the interior climate.</p><p><b>Key words</b>: Building component, building simulation, heattransfer, thermal performance, frequency response, RC-network,finite difference model.</p>

įvesti vienos krypties eismą), o automobilius be veikiančių katalitinių filtrų pripažinti techniškai netvarkingais. Individualių gyvenamųjų namų apšildymui naudoti ekologiškai švaresnį kurą, skatinti gyventojus efektyviau apšiltinti savo būstą naudojant naujas technologijas, laistyti ir plauti gatves esant sausiems orams.<br>The paper analyzes the legislation, to carry out studies of concentration KD Radviliškio city. Urban air monitoring site was selected on the basis of traffic intensity of the busiest streets of the city. After analyzing the data, it was found that the most common particle concentration levels below threshold levels were set on the streets of the most intense and on the streets. Examined the ambient air quality in Lithuania and Radviliškio city.In May, the exceedances found a great deal, so that particle concentration is affected by meteorological conditions. In order to improve Radviliškio urban air pollution situation is proposed to restrict car traffic areas of pollution (eg introduction of one-way traffic) and cars without catalytic active filters considered technically incorrectly. Individual residential heating use environmentally cleaner fuels, encouraging residents to better insulate your home by using new technology, irrigation and wash the streets in dry weather.

Abstract:
Research in abstract argumentation typically per-tains to finite argumentation frameworks (AFs). Ac-tual or potential infinite AFs frequently occur if theyare used for the purpose of nonmonotonic entail-ment, so-called instantiation-based argumentation,or if they are involved as modeling tool for dia-logues, n-person-games or action sequences. Apartfrom these practical cases a profound analysis yieldsa better understanding of how the nonmonotonic the-ory of abstract argumentation works in general. Inthis paper we study a bunch of abstract propertieslike SCC-recursiveness, expressiveness or intertrans-latability for unrestricted AFs.

"Axisymmetrical Thermal Stress Analysis of Laminated Composite Finite Hollow Cylinders Restricted at Both Ends in Steady State." In ASME 1996 International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition. American Society of Mechanical Engineers, 1996. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/imece1996-0860.

Full text
Abstract:
Abstract The thermal stress distributions of laminated composite finite hollow cylinders restricted at both ends and at one end of the cylinders are analyzed using the thermoelastic displacement potential and Michell’s stress functions based on the axisymmetrical theory of elasticity. In the numerical calculations, the thermal stress distributions in the laminated composite finite hollow cylinders are examined. The effects of restrictions at the end of the cylinders on the thermal stress distributions are clarified. The analytical results are compared with the results obtained from the plain strain the ory. It can be seen that the differences in the stresses between the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder increase near the restricted end. The hoop and the axial stresses distribute discontinuously at the interface of the cylinders. The difference in the hoop stress at the interface is minimal in the case of the plain strain theory. For verification, the strains were measured and the analytical results were in fairly good agreement with the experimental results.

Cohen, Zach. "Recasting Concrete: A Case Study in Concrete 3D Printing as an Architectural Pedagogy." In 109th ACSA Annual Meeting Proceedings. ACSA Press, 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.35483/acsa.am.109.28.

Full text
Abstract:
This paper discusses a research-based architectural design called “Recasting Concrete,” which was designed to explore the ways in which concrete 3D printing can be utilized as an architectural pedagogy. The paper begins by discussing how current architecture-oriented concrete 3D printing research is fixated on the technology’s application in construction, and how such fixation has prevented architects from explor¬ing other realms in which concrete 3D printing can have impact, for example, education. Recasting Concrete is then situated within digital fabrication-centric pedagogies that have increasingly been introduced in architecture schools worldwide. The studio’s structure is detailed with particular focus on the ways in which students developed experimental concrete 3D printing methodologies. The work of three student research groups is presented. The studio’s work is then put in conversation with contemporary affordance the¬ory in order to illuminate some of the students’ conceptual learnings. Finally, the paper discusses a novel architectural design approach that students learned through their inves¬tigations into concrete 3D printing.
